I am! We’re getting married at Barcelo Maya Tropical Resort in the Riviera Maya.

Most of the typical things you’d need a vendor for are covered by the resort however I am flying in a MUA from home and hiring a local photographer(Octavio Montes).

Where are you getting married?

@Phebelasha:  We’ve been to that area quite a few times in the last few years, if you have any questions ask away! 🙂

@Phebelasha:  i am!! in the riviera maya and having a non resort wedding so ive been looking into vendors

what kind of wedding are you interested in? resort or non resort? legal or symbolic . religious weddings arent legal in mexico (eg if youre catholic thats a seperate ceremony), and symbolic is normally to describe a normal wedding…but where youve done the legal bits back home

drawback to a legal wedding is you are required by law to have blood tests but resorts can get a doctor to your hotel room so its not a big hassle. also there are some requirements if you have been previously divorced

its definitely more expensive to have a non resort wedding but for me, the privacy of it (as opposed to resort weddings where there are often lots of people surrounding you on the beach) and the fact that people can stay where they want, meant that it was best option for me

@newname_99:  Hi! I’m thinking of having a non-resort wedding. May I ask what venue you booked?

I really wanted Xcaret, but their packages are at least  for 70 guests.

@Ms_DW_bee:

im havign the ceremony at xcaret, and then the reception at a beach club called blue venado (5 mins from xcaret). its basically a blank canvas – ive uploaded pics of it in daytime, and then dressed up with the fabric and better tables. theres no rental fee 5pm-2am if you get food and drink from them, i think minimum might be 20 people?

its on the sand…but covered with the roof which is great if its a bit windy or (god forbid) rains. im  going to dress up the path with tiki torch type things, and maybe use some lanterns etc

because its 15 mins away from everywhere else – its private, quiet and dark – so you can see the stars really well and use lighting really effectively

I’m getting married at Xcaret Eco park on March 15th 2014. What vendors do you need? I have a few already.

I am excited I found this post and I would love to meet more bees getting married in Mexico! We are going to be at Moon Palace- an all-inclusive.  I have been going to the palace resorts for awhile and my family loves them.  Right now I’m on the hunt researching outside photographers, so many options!  I have been using bestdestinationwedding.com as a resource but it seems like a lot of those posts are old.
