Hey Brides!
After watching *MY FAIR WEDDING with DAVID TUTERA* this past Sunday on the WE channel, I have totally fallen inlove with LACE WIGS & Hair Extensions! http://www.wetv.com/my-fair-wedding/episodes/joanne-superstar-bride
This epidodes bride was named Joanne and naturally she has very short hair. For her wedding she wore a full long *Lace Wig*, the same kind of wigs that Beyonce has and she looked BEAUTIFUL! Not only was her hair perfect but you could not even tell that it was a wig. I know that Lace Wigs can be pricey but I did find some online in the 300 range. I think it is worth it to have flawless hair on my wedding day, rather than dealing with my hard to manage frizzy hair!!
What do you brides think or feel about Lace Wigs or Hair Extensions on your wedding day??! Anyone try it out yet or planning to?!

I would also love to see any pictures of Brides wearing Hair Extensions or Wigs!! I'm clueless when it comes to this and would love to get some idea's and see some beautiful styles!

Hey! I have been considering at least extensions for quite a while! I'm actually planning on ordering clip-in ones this week to test drive them a have ample time to play with them before deciding. I've considered getting extensions at the salon, but they are so expensive and can be damaging to your hair (and I already have quite a bit of damage due to coloring).
I've looked at lace wigs, also though! It would be amazing to think that the whole--"will my hair turn out?!?!" burden could be lifted. However, I can't help but think it'd be a little weird at the end of the night when you get to your hotel room & you pull off your wig... I think it might kinda freak out FI :)
Hey JamieAnnette!
Glad you are thinking the same Idea as I am! I think Hair Extensions (clips), Weaves and Wigs are a GREAT option for FLAWLESS and Beautiful wedding hair! Have you ever thought of using "half wigs". I know Britney and Jessica Simpson and Gwen from no doubt wear them all the time.
Plus, I would suggest not taking it off when the wedding is over and wait till the morning when your getting ready. I think it may even be BONUS points for your fiance to spend his wedding night with his new sexy wife and her long sexy hair hahaha, could be fun for both of you!
I think this Lace Wig is also BEAUTIFUL! Love the style...

I just need to find a Hair Stylist in the Pennsylvania area that knows how to apply it and style one for me...Not all stylists know how to work with Lace Wigs
I wore a lace front last year. Get it put on by a pro. If you do it wrong, the glue (if you use glue) will clump or the hairline won't fall correctly.
Thanks for the tip Miss Tatooo, I will be sure to find a pro who knows about Lace Wigs to put it on for me and style. If I was planning on using bangs , maybe I could also just use a regular wig?
Do you have any pics Miss Tattoo!? :)
@Miss Tattoo: Yes! I've seen so many bad lace fronts!
Definitely deal with a professional...or watch a lot of tutorials and practice, practice, practice.
Now I'm nervous RAYRAY haha, I have faith though I'll find a good wig and a good stylist.
Your from around Philadelphia RayRay? Have any suggestions of stylists?
I'm a natural head and I wear synthetic lacefronts from time to time just to try something new. Watching youtube is a MUST!!
It can be difficult if you're natural to do it because most suggest pulling out a SLIVER of your own hair out to make it look more natural (which I don't do).
I generally braid my hair down and place on top of my head. I don't use glue, however, if I want to make sure it's going to stay on, I use Got2Be Freeze Spray on the hairline to make sure it'll stay on.
I have a couple pics somewhere that I need to find.
With that being said, I'll be getting treebraids for my wedding day. I'm just too concerned about how natural it'll look and I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for a lacefront.
@April_Fools_Bride: I'm from Philly, but have never gotten a weave, so I can't recommend anyone. Sorry :(
@April_Fools_Bride: no pictures. They were all on my old laptop that my ex wiped out to be an ass.
You don't have to use glue either. You can get tape if you want to take it off more often.
Hey!! Now we're talk'n....LOL!
I've been wearing lace wigs for about a year now and after experiencing my best friends weddinghair drama...I'm looking forward to not having to worry about all that on my DAY.
I spend between 2 & $300 on mine and guess what...it's totally worth it.
My hair is the one thing I will not have to stress about..ya know.
If I want it wavy...silky strait...curly..whateva. I will have that!
I've never had any problems with my LaceWigs looking as realistic as possible.
"NO One Has to Know"
Plus these wigs are a chance to give my own hair a break from the chemicals and heat damage from curlers and flat irons.
I will say though...these wigs take dedication. They have to be well maintained.
Girl..go for it! It's your day...you only get one. Make it Happen!!!!
I think there are some wigs that are inexpensive but look very real. I had one that I actually dyed purple and people thought it was my real hair, so I would definitely recommended at least taking a look at http://arda-wigs.com/. I was thinking of wearing a wig for my wedding, too, just because I love wigs, I can never get my bangs to sit right all day, and I want my hair to be more red anyway. The picture is of me wearing the same style wig as my purple one but in blond, it lasted all day and nobody seemed to notice it was a wig.
That's realy cool that no one noticed it...Your hair is probably the same basic texture as the wigs you wear. RIGHT?
Unfortunetly it's a lil different for African American Woman. The texture of the average woman of color's hair is so different.. that we almost have to go totally undetected. Peolple tend to stare at our hair if the texture is of another decent. Imagine if you were to arrive at your wedding in an Afro Wig...Exactly!
Well that why a wig for us would have to be vertually unnoticed. Especialy at the hairline. Which means us spending a good lil amount of $$.
Not the best pic of me and my hair is back in ponytail, but you can get an idea of the difference in the hairline than the average Wig.
Lace front wigs are a great option especially if you plan on taking your honeymoon right after the wedding; they are great for the beach.
@YSQueen:hi what are tree braids? i wear my hair natural and sometimes get box braids but never heard of tree braids
I'm going with clip in extensions. I want to add volume and length to my hair for the wedding. Thinking of getting them soon to get a feel for them.
@Tally7: It's kind of like invisible braids. Here are a couple of images I googled.
Depending on the length of my hair, I may consider extensions. Not sure I'd be comfortable with a wig.
thanks I may look into that - I like to try new things once in a while --
@amariem25: Lace/Lacefront wigs are wigs where the hairline (or the entire wig) are made using a mesh like lace material so that the hairline is less noticably fake.
It became really popular with celebrities like Beyonce because her real hair is natural, however, the hair that you see her with most often is a lace/lacefront wig.
Beyonce's natural hair:

A lace front wig with the lace in the front still there. You cut off the lace in the front to match your hairline.

Does anyone have any good sites for a lace front? I'm trying to grow my hair out but I want a "just in case" option. ^_^
Not AA, but definitely considering some sort of extensions for my wedding. I had extensions many years ago that were sewn into tracks. I've lost touch with the lady who did them for me and she was very reasonable; however, I've had trouble finding similar, affordable options.
Also, my hair has been thinning considerably and I'm terrified of causing any further damage to my scalp. I work in an industry that sees a considerable amount of AA women with permanant hair loss caused by braids, weaves, tracks, etc. So, I came across a web site (proextensions.com) either here on the weddingbee or from a google search that has clip in extensions. I ordered a set this weekend and hope that they will be an option for my wedding...we'll see!
I wore a full weave (none of my hair left out) for my wedding. I ordered Indian Remy Naturally Curly hair from Wagmans. It looked so natural. Everyone was complimenting how beautiful my hair is. I had it dyed and highlighted too.
@homegirl: Where did you get yours? Are you using glue or tape?
You ladies are freaking me out. My hair has been natural for FOREVER and if I do anything, it's usually twists or braids. Most of the time though, I just slap a scarf on it and go. Can't do that anymore. But I don't know how these wigs, extensions, weaves etc are going to look with natural hair...and my hair is REALLY natural, all kinky and stuff. I don't even know what to do because I always think weaves should leave a lil' of your hair out but I can't because my hair be breaking combs and ish :(
@bRooklynRocks: My weave didn't leave a lil of my hair out and it (the weave) looks very natural. I have bangs with this weave, but my friends have full weaves with a part (none of their hair is left out) and it still looked natural.
@homegirl: ITA with all of this. I'm a HUGE fan of lace wigs and can't even imagine my wedding day style without one.
There are a LOT of options, even Ebay manufacturers or "lace front" wigs which don't have the lace throughout the whole unit, but still can look flawless for a much lower price than a full lace wig. It's worth it to check out your options!
Just for poops and giggles...here's a site to check out that has a lot of interesting updo's and such for "us".

And here's the style I picked out even before I picked a dress! lol I'm planning to wear a birdcage veil, so I think this will do nicely.

@Miss Tattoo: I've bought hair and hair products from HairSisters.com and have been pleased with what they offer. But, I've never worn a lace front.
If you check out YouTube, there are many women who do lacefront reviews and can point you to some good brands/websites.
@RayRayFurious: Oh yes...yes indeedy Hairsisters gets a whole lot of my beauty dolla's.
I wear a lace front wig and im trying to decide whether or not to wear it for my wedding.... but this is a pic of me in my wig. I love it!!
I wear a lace front wig everyday but i can't decide if i want an updo with my natural hair or my wig... but this is what my wig looks like. i love it!

@Miss Tattoo:You should try bestlacewigs.com very reliable and fast free shipping. They sell regular exctension as well, and as any other legit company they can have your wig custom made. They are located in China. I was scared at first but they have better hair than a lot of company I used and where I PAID WAY TO MUCH. Other companies:
sassysecrets.com, misswigs.com seems to have mixed reviews.

yes I am!!! I just decided to do this about 2 days ago. I am not however going to spend $200-$300 on a freakin wig. I am going with the synthetic lace wig. They are only about $60-$70 and that is just fine for one day.
I've decided to do a weave with the Virgin Indian Hair extensions. I'm getting married away in Jamaica and I don't want to fuss with my natural hair. I'll be sure to post pics for any future brides who may be interested!!!!
I'm not a fan of lace wigs or lace weaves or whatever you call it. I'm not knocking anyone who wear it, to each it's own but personally, I think lace wigs look like a fake hairline. But that's me. I don't usually wear hair weaves. I usually put on a half wig every now and again but for my wedding I'm going to suck it up and wear a weave. I'm wearing Indian Curly hair 6 oz. I'm going for this curly updo something like a messy bun but not really. Don't know how to explain it but that's what I'm doing to my hair for the wedding.
