I had ordered a 2nd dress for the reception since my main dress is HEAVY and there’s no way I’ll be comfortable all day and night in that thing. Well, the 2nd dress was a flop and I literally cannot find yet another dress I like enough. So, I remembered that when my sister got married (2005) that mom had tried to get my sister to use her dress which was flat out refused. She understood, but was of course a little disappointed. So, to my issue… I just asked her if I could use it (if she didn’t mind me hacking away at it) and now she’s SUPER EXCITED. Neither of us can really remember what it looks like other than long, sheer sleeves, a high neck, and possibly a chiffon overlay. haha. I’m pretty sure it’s got some gorgeous lace on it that I could use for something but a lot of it has got to go. Only concern, my parents just celebrated their 38th anniversay 4 days ago. Any brides that tried to revamp mom’s dress run into issues with durability of fabric or lace?
I’m nervous I may gotten her too excited about the idea and it just might not work out. It’s not preserved or anything. It’s just in a soft, zippered box under their bed and has been for the last 38 years. With the exception of 10 minutes about 9 years ago when she tried to get my sister to try it on. haha
