I really hope there are some central Il. brides on here!  My fiance and I are trying to decide on a photographer. We took an entire day and met with 4 photographers and absolutely loved 2 of them!! Now, we can't decide who to go with. One of my big issues is this: I am a little worried about touchups. Not to sound vain, but I have some scarring on my upper arms and I don't want to see them in the photos. One of the photographers does basic touchups, the other does basic as well but can do more intense touchups. I'm assuming basic touchups could hide the scars, I hope!! My question(after much rambling) is this: Has anyone used Bruer photography in washington or Bridges Wedding Photography in Bloomington??? Or do you know anyone who has??? We loved them both, now we can't decide. aaagh!!!!

    Hi there!

Not sure about these two. Go with your instinct. I'm getting married next October and have booked RK Pictures. His website is www.rkweddings.net Not sure what you're considering paying for your photographer, but my package comes with a custom designed Album and the DVD of all images plus unlimited coverage for around 2k! I've also talked to some of his past clients and they just love him.

Good luck. I'd just go with what you feel. You should feel a connection with the photographer as he or she'd be part of the family for a couple of days!

    -Claire.

I think I might've already replied to you on the b-n sight, buuuut... I say def go with Bridges. I just looked at the Bruer sight and, to be honest, the Bruer photos look a litte too touched up to me. Bridges doesn't have to add gratuitious photoshopping to their photos  because their pictures are expressive enough to begin with. That way, you end up with wedding photos that look like wedding photos, and not computer experiments.

(although I understand your case is different! I'm gonna ask that my bright red face be toned down, I know it!)

Hi Kourtann! I'm a Central Illinois bride! (Living in Peoria, getting married in Bloomington) Bruer photography was one of my favorites when I first started looking for photographers but they were downright unresponsive
when I was trying to get in touch with them for a meeting! Hopefully they've been a little more helpful for you.

My photographer is Mark Romine. Here's his wedding site: http://www.romineweddings.com/romine.html and his regular portrait photography site (which is a little more up-to-date, actually, and I tihnk gives a better idea of his current photography style): http://www.romineportraits.com/.

I really can't say enough wonderful things about working with Mark. He's been really wonderful & helpful every step of the way. I have a couple posts about choosing the photographer here: http://www.weddingbee.com/2007/09/20/if-a-pictures-worth-a-thousand-words/

and about our engagement photos here: http://www.weddingbee.com/2007/12/11/jumping-on-the-bandwagon-2/

My only experience with touching up was that the weekend prior to our e-pics, I ended up scratching up the wrist of my left hand while trying to fish my cell phone out of this crevice in my car it had fallen into (which is actually a really funny story all in itself). So the day-of I still had these icky scabs on my hand. I asked Mark if he could do anything about it and when the pictures came back, my hand was picture-perfect! You can see a close-up here: http://romineweddings.com/Alex_Ashley1/

Hopefully that helps a little!  And if there's anything else you need help or ideas with from another Central IL bride, feel free to email me at chickadee@weddingbee.com. I'd love to help out anyway I can!

Is your scarring deep (not just surface), or can it be camouflaged with Coverblend?  That might ease your concerns about retouching.  Otherwise, I'd talk to the photographers specifically about this and ask to see examples of their retouching.  I think your concern is fair!

I don't have any helpful recs.  :(  I'm too far north (Chicago suburbs).
