Today I purchased some real hair clip in extensions as my fine hair needs a bit of omph for the wedding (wearing loose waves and all down). I spent a little time talking to the lady at the place I purhased them and she advised full head extensions if I’m just looking for volume. Now question:-
I opened them tonight and noticed that both full head pieces had six clips each. I thought if I bought two full head there would be less clips on a second piece?? When I popped them in they both work from ear to ear. Is this right? do I cut the clips off to the size I want? Total novice so any help appreciated!!

@skyeatnight: Youtube has a ton of tutorials on clip in hair extensions…check it out!
I have fine hair too and plan on trying some clip ins-they are very expensive but I feel like they’re worth it.

I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking… But I’ll give it a shot.
2 full hair packs = 2 individual wefts each with 6 clips (right?) So your issue is that they each have 6 clips so they each should go from ear to ear? That doesn’t sound comfortable to wear on your head.
You can definitely cut them. I’d leave one with 6 clips to wear in the middle of your head, and cut the second one down to 4 and wear it closer to the nape of your neck.

I too am going to use hair extensions. I need more oomph as well. I love this you tube video have you seen it?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgKxeQFCrSU&feature=related
I am doing this style for my wedding. Are you doing your own hair? If not you might let whoever is doing your hair play with them a bit.

@Gingersnap: This is exactly what I was asking about. I thought about maybe cutting one down to four to allow me to put it lower as two six clip wefts seem like they would have to go close together.
I’m doing my own hair so will need to practice.
Thanks for the links ladies. Hopefully be a massive help!
Anyone got pics of them in clip in hair extensions?

I would cut them too. Mine came with 3 larger wefts that I place in the back and then smaller wefts that I place on the sides. I can’t leave mine straight or they look REALLY fake. I curled mine and my own hair and I LOVE them.
This is a photo from before my boudoir photo shoot so the makeup isn’t normal, but you can see my hair.

@milesbella: Yours look amazing! You look gorgeous and you would never be able to tell that you had extensions in. I’m curling my hair so it should look more natural and identical to how yours looks.
What would you cut the six down to? Leave at four and six (which means two left over) or three and four which would still leave a four? If that makes sense?

I also use hair extensions sometimes. Ive used them on and off for 8 years or so. I have one large that goes from ear to ear, then four 3-clip wefts, then some 1-clip. If you have short hair in the front, I would definitely cut them or purchase some single clip wefts so that the front of your hair doesn’t look dramatically shorter than the back. And once you try them out a few times, they get really easy to put in. Good Luck 🙂

Thanks – it about killed me to pay $85 for them, but for my boudoir pics, I really wanted them. I’ve worn them a few times out with Fiance and all our friends compliment me and say they look great (I don’t think they’re lying)? 🙂
Mine came in 8 pieces, which included One 8” weft, One 7” weft, One 6” weft, One 5-3/4” weft, and Four 1-1/2” wefts. I think the long wefts have 3 clips each, the medium ones have 2 clips each and the smaller ones are single clips.

You ladies are fantastic! so helpful. I paid good money for mine (perhaps not where you want to be cheap) so I’ll be very careful when cutting them down. I think two full six wefts is too much.
