Me too. I live in Arvada. I'm getting married in Golden on July 12, 2008. I'd love to see a Colorado girl make it to full blown bee. Have either of you applied?
Oh, I wish. Moved to WA from Arvada two years ago, after 10 years in the Denver area. I miss it like crazy!!! You have to tell me everywhere you are having everything, so I can wish... We are going to spend ten days in Aspen for our honeymoon (as FI knows how really much I miss Colorado.)
Our Ceremony and Reception will be at the Mt. Vernon Event Center in Golden (not to be confused with the Country Club). The ceremony will be outdoor (at 10:30 am) with the Log Gazebo as the alter. You can see pics on the website: http://www.mtvernoneventcenter.com/tour.php
We will then transition into the indoor center for the reception. I'm using Intricate Icings for Cake, Holcombe Photography for pics, Mt. Vernon for catering, The Wedding Bouquet for flowers.
July2008Bride - we might see you at Red Rocks! My photog loves to take his married couples out for pics of just the two and he LOVES Red Rocks. Plus we want a picture taken in the street with the Welcome to Golden sign in the background. So what are your other plans? Time?
Aspen is great for a honeymoon, you should totally do the Crested Butte to Aspen hike and spend a night in Crested Butte!
JulyBride - I'm getting married in October at Devil's Thumb Ranch. Haven't done too much planning yet (bought dress on Saturday though) so I guess I have to get in gear soon.
Oh, I love Crested Butte too! And I totally want to take him to Telluride, although I have never skied there - used to always go in September to go hiking. We will have to have a trip back every other year at least.
When we were first dating and I still lived in Arvada, I had him out for a long weekend and we stayed at the Adagio (near City Park) and saw all the Denver sites... if you are looking for a romantic weekend getaway right in town its a nice place (real fireplaces - hard to find in Denver hotels)!!
Hey ladies! I'm a Red Rocks bride, too (May 25!). Glad someone posted this. I'd love to see a Colorado bee, too. :) Good luck to anyone applying! [I live in Stapleton.]
JanainCo!!! OMG! You're the one! LOL!!! YOU got Peter for your photography! When I called (back in JUNE of 2007... 13 months before our wedding date) I got this email from Kathy Holcombe:
> From: Kathy Holcombe > > Sent: Sunday, June 24, 2007 4:31:49 PM > Subject: Re: 2008 Wedding > > Oh NO! We are in the middle of negotiating July 12, 2008 right now > with another couple. our date wasn't flexible and I was devastated that I couldn't get Peter to do our wedding. Now I know why! LOL!!! Well I'm glad you got him. He does amazing work and yes, I love Peter's Red Rocks pictures.
We're using Bob Sullivan Photography and he's wonderful. He did our engagement pictures and has done some really great RR shots as well. Limesnall? Who are you using for your photography?
I live in the Northglenn/Thornton area, and we have and afternoon wedding at Red Rocks and then going to The Legacy Ridge Golf Course in Westminster for our reception. They have a wonderful view of the front range and the flatirons. We initially were thinking the Stanley on the 4th of July (the anniversary of when he proposed) but we thought Estes tourists would just be too much.
I looked at Mt. Vernon Country Club. I didn't know there was an event center on Mt. Vernon. We're having our rehersal dinner in the middle of downtown Denver at The Burnsley Hotel. And are accomodating most of our guests there as well.
Gosh, I'm so excited that there are a few of us on here from "home" Who's officiating at your ceremony Limesnall? We picked Joe Woodson. And Livvie, if you need things for your October wedding, I have several extras I'd be willing to sell that are all new. I think at first we got so caught up in buying things for the wedding, that we didn't think it through and my FMIL bought stuff and my mother bought things and my MOH. I've got like 4 guest books, and 3 different Unity Candles and all kinds of stuff. The best part is 7 different sets of champagne flutes! LOL.
hi everyone! i live in NYC but am getting married at the St. Julien Hotel in Boulder in August! Does anyone have a good bakery they can recommend for the wedding cake?
OOOOOOOHHHH I love the St. Julien. I worked in Boulder for a while and would go to the St. Julien quite often.
The bakery we're using is called Gateaux www.gateauxpasteries.com They are in downtown Denver, and might deliver to Boulder. If you need help with anything here being so far, I'll be happy to get info for you. I've been to several bridal fairs and have gotten a lot of information for the front range area. I can see what I've gotten for Boulder bakeries.
JulyBride, LOL! I happen to be using Peter, too!! Wow! That's TOO funny that you and Jana share the same date and both wanted the Holcombes! What taste we have! : ) But I'm glad you like Bob Sullivan! I haven't heard of him - I'll have to go check out his work. :)
I agonized over each and every of my vendor choices...probably because I hate decisions and saying no to people...
Our officiant is actually my youth pastor that I had back in Chicago. He is now pastoring a church in southern Wisconsin, and we're flying him out with his family.
The small world of Denver weddings means that I'm also using Rachael from Intricate Icings for our cake. ARIES527, she's awesome! I totally recommend her, if she's still available!! She's up in Lafayette, very close to Boulder.
Another great cake place to check out is the Elegant Bakery in Lakewood. Great taste AND designs. St. Julien should also be able to make a cake through their caterer - at least I saw that once with a Real Wedding on the Knot...
Oh, and Shamane's Bakery in Boulder is supposed to be really good. That was the next place on my list for a tasting, if I still needed to look...
Yay! Oh, finding you gals feels so great! Best wishes in your planning!
I'm totally bumming now! Both of you got Peter. *pout* the photographer is the one thing I'm truly agonizing over. Bob doesn't have a lot of pics on his website, but when the FI an I went to his studio he had great pics. Also there are several pictures of his work at the Chapel as well. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'm really hoping he captures the feel we're looking for. I can't wait to get everyone who attends the ceremony on the chapel steps for a picture.
We should all do lunch!
I'm with you limesnall. Finding you all is AWESOME!
Wow, you're using Peter too, so awesome. Do you have engagement pics on his blog? If so, let me know, I'd love to see them. OUrs are on there from Redstone. And I'm using Rachael for our cake too. Small world huh.
Both Peter and Rachael are awesome in what they do.
July2008Bride - the MV event center is actually in Golden and has no association with the country club.
St Julien is really nice, I love the back deck they use for weddings.
Another GREAT cake place is Haute Cakes in Boulder. Kim (the owner) makes the prettiest cakes I've seen. I did a tasting with Shamane, and while her cakes were realllly good, I just didn't like her as much as Kim. For what its worth
Does anyone have any recommendations for florists? Preferably ones that use local/organic flowers? There are a couple from the Boulder Farmer's Market that we love, but we haven't settled on anything.
Jana, we haven't done our engagement photos yet - i think we're going to try for a destination portrait session! They just announced their locations on their blog, and the Death Valley one is really appealing to us! [Plus, J is intrigued about the book Peter's working on! lol!]
I agree - I've been really happy with both Peter and Rachael, and feel fortunate that it all worked out to have them.
For flowers, I'm using Erin from Plum Sage Flowers. She tries to get most of her flowers locally from a market in Longmont. The small world of the Denver bridal world is that Erin is getting married this summer and she is also using Peter for her pics!
Livvie, you're getting married in the Winter Park area, right? You might consider a florist up there. I can only imagine the delivery fees might be outrageous!
J and I might be going skiing this weekend, but most days I'm free to get together.
just wondering out of curosity
