Any Colorado Brides here?

posted 9 months ago in Denver

I'm actually getting married at DTR this October.  It's fairly expensive, especially if you want it in the summer.  Summer site fee is 8,000.  Oct-May (I think May, maybe late April) is 4,000 site fee.  Minimum food/alcohol in summer is 10k and in the off-season it's 5k

email me  at yamundo at gmail dot com if you want some more information and other places we looked at.

even though it's pricey, there aren't many places in colorado like it, so i definitely think it's worth it if you can swing it.  we have a lot of OOT'ers coming and really wanted someplace where everyone could stay and no one had to drive.

Hey everyone, I am actually from Mississippi but am getting married in Estes this August. Has anyone heard anything about St. Malo or Mary's Lake Lodge? I would love anyone's input on either of these two locations since that is where are plans currently entail.

Hope you all have a good lunch this weekend. Sounds like a lot of fun and a good way to meet lot's of new people.

My FI proposed to me on the steps of St. Malo church.   :)  We originally wanted to get married at The Stanley in Estes, but the smallest room (the music room) at the Stanley was $10k for just the room fee. That didn't include ANYTHING other than an empty room. So now we're getting married at Red Rocks.

For lunch:  This Sunday the 24th at the Rock Bottom Brewery in Westminster off Hwy 36 and 104th at NOON.  I have a little metal Bee that looks like the weddingbee Bee so when I get there I'll make sure the hostess knows that anyone asking for the wedding bee table be directed over.

I'm looking forward to meeting whoever can make it  :)

oh wow, that sounds a bit daunting!  and i thought i had it tough living in kansas, planning a wedding in colorado with my fam coming from california and his from florida!  yay, i don't feel so bad anymore!  good luck!  wowsers, that's intense!  one thing that i hadnt really considered in my planning was the lodging costs that the guests have to pay.  keep that in mind--airfare is expensive, and so they just may be looking for a motel 6 to balance the costs rather than a hyatt to enjoy the experience.  sorry i dont know any specifics about the place your looking at to help you out :(

hahaha...apparently i've missed a lot of posts in the past day.  my previous post, i thought, was in response to iheartcolorado (i didnt' see that there was a whole-nother page already formed!)

wish i could meet y'all for lunch.  any chance you'd like to meet in the middle of kansas?! yeah, didn't think so!

I think St. Malo's is beautiful, but I don't want to add anymore stress to the deal by worrying about whether enough people won't come so we can fit in the church.  bummer. The price on DTR does seem high, especially during the summer but I wonder if there is a lot included in the fee or if it is just like the stanley hotel. I don't even know what the average budget around here is anymore, but once you go over 10,000 which seems almost bargain basement on the bee and the knot I start to feel a little bad for spending so much money on just one day. On the other hand, with so many people coming from abroad I want there experience to be really good. In this case it's more than a wedding... there are serious cultural and language barriers for our families and this could make or break their relationship. So it has to be especially well done and there are a lot of extra costs like translators and transportation for the foreigners and arranging things for them to do while they are in town. what do ya'll think is a reasonable budget?

Hi Colorado Bees! I just wanted to let you know that I might not be able to make it for lunch tomorrow I found out this afternoon that some paperwork for a grad program I plan to start in the fall is due this Monday and not next Monday, as I was origninally told I am going to try and get it done after I go out with some gal pals tonight, but if I can't, I will have to do it tomorrow. I am sorry, and I hope you will keep me posted when other CO Bee events come up! Hopefully I will meet you soon!

I meant to tell you...iHeartColorado...you should check in the archives; someone posted awhile ago about a calculator where you plug in your zip code and it tells you the average wedding cost in your area. I think it was a bit upwards of $30k in the Denver-metro area.

Just a reminder, that we'll bee meeting at the Rock Bottom Brewery tomorrow for lunch at noon to whomever can make it.   Ask the hostess for the Wedding Bee table  :)

aww, it looks like all the momentum has died down here.... I'm a total lurker on weddingbee, we're not even officially engaged yet, but everything is so pretty! anyway, I live in Boulder and work wherever I can find work. I just wanted to say hi to other CO hive readers! We totally need a CO bee! There are so many fab. things (like mountains and canyons) that the rest of the country is missing out on from lack of a CO bee, imho.

It hasn't "died" I had a really bad car accident and for the last week have been pretty much out of it. We've gotten together for lunch and have gone shopping. I just haven't been feeling well. :(

Boulder is very pretty. I love the flatirons. I would love a full blown CO Bee.

Agreed, violarulz.  It'd be great to have a CO bee!  [Soon-to-be-congrats, btw!]

The whole world of blogging was a bit of a mystery to me when I became engaged.  At this point, I have enough to talk about that I could start a blog, but now I don't have time!  My wedding's in two and a half months, and now all the DIY projects are coming to the forefront...agh!  For all of you brides who have a way's until your wedding, start a blog now, and apply when you've got some substance!

Regarding lunch a week or two ago: July2008Bride and I were the only ones to show, but we had a blast anyway!  Even went tiara-hunting after lunch!  I'd love it if we could organize another WB get-together, if everyone's interested!

So sorry to hear about your car accident - that's awful!!!  Is everything ok???  How's your back??

July2008Bride - I truly hope that you're feeling better soon.  If you need any help with wedding stuff, let me know.

Limesnall & Violarulz - so who will be the first one of us to apply to be a full blown Bee?

I'd totally be up for another attempt at a get together.  I feel badly that I wasn't able to make it.

Well have a great Friday and weekend to follow

I'm doing okay. I'm able to walk now using a walker. My daughters have been coming over and helping me but mostly my FI has had to do everything for me. From picking me up to take me to the bathroom to feeding me, dressing me, helping me bathe, everything. I haven't done anything about the wedding at all. Well yea, I did. I freaked out over not being able to walk, and the skin being ripped off my body so I called and cancelled everything. The only person who wouldn't let me cancel is the chapel. She told me to calm down and wait and see what happens.

I also found out that I'm losing my job in a couple of weeks due to lay offs. My heart just isn't in anything right now.  :(

July2008Bride-I am sorry to hear that you were in a bad accident. I hope you recover nicely! And, I know it's odd since we haven't met, but let me know if you need anything! I'm always up for helping out another Colorado gal.

ViolaRulz-You will have to let us know when you get engaged. Maybe we can plan our next outing around hearing your story?

I am definitely up for another get together; I was so bummed that I missed the last one. Stupid grad school!

And, I definitely agree that we need a CO bee. I started a blog (mostly because I am a closet lover of writing), but I am not sure that it competes with others I have seen. I would love feedback or to support another CO gal who is a wannabee

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: tahoma; font-size: 13px">July2008Bride- OMG! I'm not working right now, so if you need any help around the house I'm kinda available most days of the week.....

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: tahoma; font-size: 13px"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: 10px">I'm glad I was able to jump-start this forum again. it's fun to hear about people HERE, not just in all the places I've lived before Boulder/Denver.

PS- if you know of anyone who needs a paralegal, I'd REALLY appreciate the reference.

I'm a colorado bride too! I just found this board and got pretty excited!! Even though our wedding isn't until next winter, I'm fully into the planning process! I'm getting married in my hometown Vail, but live in the D.C. area... so glad to see other CO brides here!

Welcome, vailbride!  Congrats!  How's the planning going so far away?

[Debi, I'm so sorry to hear about everything...please let me/us know if there is anything you want help with.  Are all things cancelled?]
