Any Colorado Brides here?

posted 9 months ago in Denver

Hey ladies!

Wanted to see if there's interest still to try another gathering!

With my own wedding now one month away (ack!), I can't confidently say I'm willing to plan, pick a place, and make a reservation, but it would be awesome to meet some more Colorado bees!

What do you say?  :)

First, paging Jana!  Our engagement photos are now posted on Peter's blog!  :)

Second, I'll be spending most of my evenings next week at Archiver's, trying to finish up as many of my DIY projects.  Since I'm not really in a place to be planning outings (unless I can kill two birds with one stone!), I thought this could be a fun way to meet AND get some stuff done, all while being inspired in the presence of each other!

For those who haven't experienced the sheer joy of Archiver's, it's a scrapbooker's heaven, and all-things scrapbooking can be translated into all-things wedding!  I would say it's our equivalent to Paper Source that all the Bees rave about...can't say I've actually been to one, though!  Point is: we don't have a Paper Source, but there are three or four Archiver's in the Metro area!

I go to the one in Aurora (I-225 & Alameda), but there's one in Westminster/Broomfield area & another in Highlands Ranch, I believe.

Any interest???  I'm leaving for Vegas tomorrow for my bachelorette party, but will be back online Monday, and ready to "craft" Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday!

Hope you're all doing well!  Happy wedding planning!   -Linnea

Ok colorado brides--

I'm getting married in Vail, but I've been looking around for Bands. As it is now, I've been in contact with Liz from Deja Blu... you can see some of their videos and songs here http://www.gigmasters.com/Dance/DejaBlu/

But the thing is, I want to reeeeally be sure the band is fun and will get everyone dancing. Does anyone have any ideas of a great band that will travel and won't cost me an arm and a leg?!!

Happy planning!

HI Limesnall

Great Pics!  SO you were the brave bride that went to Death Valley.  Very cool and what an amazing setting.  They look awesome.

Any of you girls looking for paper should also try Donahue Paper Emporium off of I-25 and Dry Creek on Yosemite.

Linea,

I've been so out of touch!  I'm sorry that I lost your number. We moved and unplugged the answering machine and poof..it was gone.

After the accident, I was a mess. My back is doing okay. I don't feel it with the drugs for my leg.

Isn't your wedding like REALLY soon?  Do you need help at all?  Anything I can help you with let me know.. even if you need a DOC to help, I'm more than willing.

Give me a ring... or drop me an email...or lets get together. I'm doing much better now.  Would love to get back in touch with you. I'm gonna go now and check out your epics on Peters Blog.

Loralie,

Where in Estes are you getting married?

Limesnall - Linnea,

I hope you're having a wonderful honeymoon. I keep checking peter's site to see if your pictures are up. They will probably be password protected, if they are, I hope you're willing to share. I can't wait to see how beautiful you looked on your day.

much love,

Deb

vailbride,

We used Jonny Mogambo Band (who are actually from the Vail area) and they were INCREDIBLE!   I'm in the midst of leaving for our honeymoon, but I wanted to wait to give my rec. until after the wedding.  Superb!!!!!  Seriously!  They broke the generational gap, they had more energy at the end of the night than the beginning, and were wonderful to work with!  They can get anyone to dance.  :)  Good luck finding the right band!    -L.

Thanks limesnall!! I'm definitely going to check them out. My mom actually knows the singer Jonny, and told me it would be a good idea too! Did you look at Tina Marx and the Millionnares or the Harry Baxter band?? Thanks, and hope you have fun on your honeymoon!!!

July2008Bride - we were hoping to get married at the Stanley because that's where he proposed to me - at Cascades Restaurant.  But that wasn't really working out since they are revamping their wedding system and I couldn't wait til the end of October to book our venue.  So instead we're doing it at Marys Lake Lodge.

Has anyone been to a wedding at Marys?

I am a new Colorado Bride to be on this sie. I am getting married on May 23,2009. I just happened to stumble on this site, but am wondering if I am lost. I don't understand the whole bee concept and it seems like everyone on here has a really high budget. My fiance and I are planning a wedidng for under $10,000. I feel a little out of place here.

Hi careeradvisor -- the "bee" thing is just the term used for the ladies who blog here, like Miss Cookie and Miss Pineapple.  I think the original blogger, Mrs. Bee, started the blog during her wedding planning and then expanded it to include new brides-to-be after her wedding.

As far as the small budget goes, you're definitely not alone!  I know lots of friends who planned theirs for under $10k, and there are definitely other posters here who are operating on similar budgets.

I think Weddingbee attracts two kinds of people -- people like me who have no idea what they want and need inspiration, and people who are crafty and doing lots of do-it-yourself (DIY) projects for their weddings.  Most of the bloggers/Bees are very big on DIY projects.

Anyway, I hope that helps you get oriented on the site!

Welome Careeradvisor27! Glad to see you've discovered weddingbee! Please let us know if there's any way we can help you plan your big day! Where in Colorado are you getting married?! Don't worry about the budget thing, there are plenty of brides on weddingbee with budgets in your area. Happy planning!

Hi Careeradvisor27

Congratulations on your engagement. Trust me. We didn't have a big budget wedding (and I lost my job in the middle of our planning and also had a pretty bad accident..talk about STRESS) I used WB to get ideas for the most part. The one piece of advice I can give you as far as the boards, etc goes. You know in your heart what is right for YOU. Don't come here looking for validation of your decisions. Someone will always tell you you're not thinking of your guests, being a bad host, or you should (my personal favorite) "Re-think getting married until you have more money" *rolls eyes*

So remember.. wedding planning?  It's like trying on clothes. When you try on that outfit in the store and look in the mirror and it fits beautifully and you love it and it makes you feel great, you know it's right and don't need to ask anyone "What do you think? Should I buy it?"  it's those moments when you think to yourself "If I just lost 2 pounds it would fit great" and you go out looking for an opinion that throws your sense of direction all out of whack. In your heart, do what you and your fiance think and know is best for you. Our wedding ran under 8k. AND we paid for all of our bridesmaids/groomsmen and parents wedding apparel. It CAN be done.

If you need anything, always feel free to PM me.  Happy planning!

Hi ladies, thanks for all of the nice comments. We are getting married at Copper Fields Events Chateau in Wheatridge. I like the fact that they do the set up, a bar, and an onsite caterer. They can also do the decorating etc. Saves me a lot of time. They have a baby grand piano so my goal is to fnd someone who can play for my wedding.
