I printed my invitations, rsvp cards, and travel inserts at a kinkos. Not the most glamorous choice, but they did a decent job. It is $15.00 per "design" that you provide them, as a labor charge, plus the cost per page of printing. They also provided me with paper at no "extra" charge (I was told that the paper source paper I brought to kinkos couldn't be printed on using their printers, due to the paper's luxe texture). The only complaint I had was that on some of my inserts, the ink broke off a bit on some of the letters. That might have been due to one faulty printer though. My invitations were fine. Make sure you have them run one test copy for you.
I used www.nwprintedsolutions.com to get my invitations thermographed on my own paper, with my own design. I think the two-color thermography was $250. It would've been less if I hadn't needed metallic gold thermography powder.
They also do offset (flat) printing, and can use their own paper if necessary. They were very accommodating, customer service was great, and I'd recommend them.

i've heard good things about the printing capabilities of chain stores like office depot, too.
My wedding is over a year away, however, I have already decided on who will be printing my invites (my fiance works for a paper & graphic supply store, so our we are getting all our paper at a discounted price)...anyhow try looking into small mom and pop print shops in your area. My future sister-in-law did this, and paid only $50 for printing. Most will print on the press, so it's very professional, and on a press you can run ANY paper, unlike the one above who had an issue because of texture!!!

mercurio brothers is great but they're in the bay area. they've done work for people out of the area though.
