I am lusting after a dress and hoping it will be mine… but I don’t think it has any built in support. It’s got a definite 1930’s feel to the cut and I am concerned about smoothing out my silhouette, so I thought maybe a corset will be the answer.
I’ve owned corsets before (steel boned) just for fun and as outerwear/clubwear in my younger days, but now I want to really consider my options. I think I would like one that covers the hips, Edwardian style.. but do I want an overbust or underbust?
When I’ve worn underbust corsets before, I’m not thrilled with how my breasts look and how there tends to be a little “roll” on top near the armpits. 🙁
Is there a specific type of corset that comes down over the hips AND has a regular molded bra cup instead? Or do I need to just plan on wearing an underbust with a bra?
I really don’t want to wear multiple undergarments if I can help it.. and I want something that will work for the day and not be visible, so no frills… but I don’t need a hardcore corset for long time use or tight lacing or any of that so I’m thinking I can consider a cheaper option? I see a ton on eBay these days that are super reasonable… would cheaper boning be okay for one day of wear?
I’m just hoping to get the desired effect in the dress to give me a smooth look but love corsets and prefer them over modern day spanx and the like (yeah, I’m weird). Thoughts?
