Snag some Crayola Model Magic. It’s a cheapo air dry clay, that dries to a texture that is actually pretty darn close to that of a mushroom. It’s fun to work with, and can smooth out with water, but be sure to let it dry slowwwly in a more humid room like the bathroom or the kitchen or it may crack.

Actually, mushroom tops crack sometimes… So maybe sculpt the stem and let it dry slowly and then sculpt the top and stick it out in the summer heat! XD

Either way, it’s fun to work with, you can blend colors and shades easily, it’s dirt cheap, can be sanded, and is readily available at a craft store or super store like Target or WalMart, which other children’s art supplies.

Small painted bowl glued upside down over a branch/stick (cut to size) would work.  If you only had one glass small bowl (like a condiment bowl), just use some newspaper strips soaked in 1/2 glue & water mix and lay flat over the bowl. When dry, peel off, trim & paint to make the tops. Glue to a short stick.

@futuremrswood25:  Naw. Just make a ball, snoosh it into a fat disk, then make your left hand into an “OK” symbol and poke the disk with your thumb to make a bell shape, then just roll another chunk of it into the stem and stack them up. The material is giving and stretchy, king of like pizza dough (but with less spring back) so once you get the hang of it after a few, it would take maybe a minute to knock each one out. I bet you could get the sculpting done in half and hour while watching a TV show you like.

I can definitely be guilty of psyching myself out sometimes. I bet your centerpieces are going to turn out absolutely fantastic. 😀
