Welcome!

I borrowed an idea from a bee and proposed to my girls!

I wrote them each a letter of why I wanted them with me on my day and gave them a card that said Will You…… On the front and Be MY BM/MOH? on the inside. I also gave them a ringpop and have a picture of me down on one knee proposing to each of them!

This might be better a little further down the line… but I love the idea of giving the bridesmaids a ‘guide’ with your colors, your suggestions for dresses, shoes, jewelry, important dates, names, phone numbers… etc

hi!

I am an avid scrapbooker and I LOVE to be creative. We are having a destination wedding to Jamaica.

I created a small scrapbook page and put some 3-d stickers of a bikini and luggage and drink, flip flops, palm trees, etc and at the top was a little bubble that had a bow on it that said “Will you join me in Jamaica as my bridesmaid?”

of course they freaked and were crying and what not 🙂

I bought each of them a headband and attached a note to it saying ” Will you keep my head on straight and be my bridesmaid?” I then bought round boxes and placed each one in a box with a big pink bow.  My girls loved it!  It was just a fun and cheap way to ask them to be a part of my big day.

I bought a “blank-inside” card with an image that went with the girl and wrote her a letter about how much she meant to me. They all loved it! My baby sister started college this fall and her note hangs on the mirror in her dorm room.

My sisters are my co-maids of honor, and I used an online photo site to make them photo books of our lives together so far.  The last page of each book had a picture of all three of us, with text asking if that sister would be my maid of honor.  They loved it, and they weren’t too expensive to make or send (maybe about $8 each).

I sent flowers to my girls either at work or when they least expected it. I picked a beautiful budget friendly arrangement and wrote a card how much they mean to me and how much I’d love them to be part of my day.

Every girl loves flowers. If you can’t do it for all of your girls, at least your MOH, make her feel special, she’ll be doing a lot!

I wanted to do something special as well-I wanted to ask my maids in person, but they are scattered all over the country (from LA to NYC and everywhere in between!)

To make it personal, I set up my digital camera on a tripod and recorded a video of myself explaining why the person was special to me, and asking them to be my bridesmaid. (This was a little awkard and took a lot of takes, but it was SO worth it.) Then I used iDVD to create a personalized DVD with slideshows of pictures, songs special to the two of us, and a series of videos we’ve taken over the years (including, of course, the message from me.) This was EXTREMELY well received – they appreciated the extra effort so much, and have all said they’ll cherish the DVD forever. Its also really inexpensive to do-just the cost of a blank DVD and an envelope to mail it in.

I also included in the package a handmade card with photos from our life together, and included some additional details about the wedding, along with some other goodies. It was so fun to reminisce about why these girls are so special to me and why I picked them in the first place.

I designed some cards and matching t shirts for my girls on zazzle.  Did this a while back.  They’re adorable.  And yes, they are somewhat of a proposal to them.

I’m also sending along with it a handmade martini glass, from a local vendor.  Going to wrap that sucker up in a heckuva lot of bubble tape too!   And it’s all going in a decorative hat box and wrapped and then sent to them.  That’s how it’s gonna go down.

I’m goofy.  I want to somehow catch everybody off guard if I can.  It’s  all gotta go down quickly because when I get engaged I want to catch everybody off guard.  And I’m awful at keeping secrets.

Right when I got engaged, my girlfriend gave me a cute notepad with a bride on it that says “soon to be mrs…” … I wrote each girl a personalized note on that paper, telling them how special they are to me and asking them to be a bridesmaid. I also had them over for some champagne and dinner to celebrate.

I sent my girls Monke-mails.  It’s this HILLARIOUS thing that careerbuilder.com does where you can write your own text, and a monkey says it!  You can pick the voice and clothes, etc.  It may not be sentimental, but it sure is funny!
