OK, so we are doing things a bit unconventional in the fact that FI told me he purchased a ring back in October. Even though he wouldn't tell me WHAT he got or WHEN I will get it, we considered ourselves good as engaged and started planning. However, his 1 request was that we hold off to tell his family/friends until the holidays... he wanted to make it a Christmas Miracle for his family (who were convinced that he would never get married). So, I sewed a button in place and have done very well not saying a word when in the company of his family. My family and closest friends know... but also realize that it's not official yet until we announce it to everyone- oh, and when I get the ring, of course. GAH.
Well, Christmas time is here. FI's brother is in town from California for an early X-mas and is in the area until the 23rd. We're packing lots of celebrating into this weekend so as to have time with his bro before he returns to Cali. At one point, FI said he'd really like to announce it while his brother was home. He HAS to have the ring by now... he ordered it at the end of October and they said 4-6 weeks to arrive. It's been well over that.
Could this weekend be 'IT'? We're having dinner with his folks and bro tomorrow night for a belated birthday celebration for his Mom (who chose to wait to celebrate until the bro was in town). Then Sunday we're doing an early Christmas so it all can be done with the entire family. I'm thinking Sunday... I'm thinking that's when he'll officially propose and perhaps I'll have some bling to adorn my left hand. :)
I'm nervous, excited, antsy... you name it. I'm a project manager as a profession so surprises when it comes to planning are not ideal in my world. The way this has unfolded has been perfect. He told me he got the ring, we began the planning (lots done so far!), and he still gets to surprise me. :)
I never put myself on the Waiting List as we were engaged... but there is still some waiting going on. Hopefully, this weekend will put an end to it and then things will feel 'real'. EEEEEEEKKKK!!!
