I too am getting married at Edgefield! When is your date? Are you doin the whole thing there? We are just doing the ceremony there on 3/20/10.
I'm using the theatre. It is such a great location because you can have guests stay there and they can entertain themselves with golf or the spa! Are you having in house beauty stuff? Did you reserve rooms?
I attened a wedding there in 2004, I don't remember the name of the building it was in but they had the cerimony outside the building in a little grassy area set up with white chairs. It may have been Blackberry Hall and Meadow. The reception was inside the building we had some type of roast among other things that was good. It was a lovely wedding. The bride rented a room in another building close by for her and the galz to get ready in. I snuck a shot of them through the window that truned out well. The boys played golf in the morning before the wedding. The building where the receptoin was held could have been devided by a wall but she had quite a few tables maybe 15 so used the whole building. The lighting came in through open doors and the windows which made for some great pictures some not to great pictures. Watch the lighting and make sure you have a photographer who knows how to work with it.
Yeah we have a lot of international guests flying in for the wedding. I think we have about 50 rooms reserved at this point. Yes that 2004 description above is Blackberry Hall. I am having my hair and makeup done at the spa...a lot easier than having to go somewhere else. Guests arrive as early as Tuesday! So my fiance and I will be spending 6 nights there so we can spend quality time with friends and family. Remember to closely review your Event Order as the date approaches, I found several errors and kept insisting that they correct them before I sign the contract. Enjoy!
ours is pretty easy, since the reception won't be there they are just doing the coctail hour which will actually be cookies and cocoa. I love it there though!
We're having trouble deciding about whether or not to have it at Edgefield. We love everything about the site except Blackberry Hall. To be able to hang out with all of our out of town guests, and have them stay at the same location where the wedding takes place is so awesome, but I think Blackberry Hall is not as beautiful as the rest of the site...
So for now this is a possibility, but not for sure...
After a wonderful wedding there on May 2, I highly recommend it. Blackberry hall is not attached to any of the other buildings which allowed us to have an awesome band and feel removed from other guests. You can decorate the tables with lovely flowers etc. we also opted to have seat covers and sashes on the chairs which added to the ambiance. Good luck deciding. As for numbers we had 115 guests and the space worked great.
