Our flowers of choice are all roses. Black magic or baccara roses and wanted hearts roses. Since we picked February in order to save money on venue and all vendors we knew we were going to get screwed with rose prices since our wedding was in the Valenintes Day month.
We were actually really shocked that our florist bill was as low as it was.
We’re having aproximately 500 roses between 6 guest tables, on the cake, on the cake table, memorial table, escort card table, gift table.
The total bill came out to $2500 but the rose bill alone was $1,000. $2 per rose during Valentines day season, is pretty good. I thought we would at least be charge $3 per rose. And those Wanted Hearts are BIG roses. They’re twice the size as long stemmed roses.
So Feb brides – are you struggling with flower costs due to your wedding being in the love month of February?

I was a bit lazy in ordering mine and had to pay an extra amount, but we’re still getting our black magic roses for 1.79 a stem. Not too shabby!
ETA: You saved by having your wedding the weekend before rather than the weekend of. I would have paid closer to 1.40 a stem if we weren’t getting married the week of.

Just in case anyone was wondering
Black Magic or Baccara Roses
and Wanteds (florist calls them heart roses) they kind of look like carnations almost….but coloring similar to the black magics

@FleeSircus: Black Baccaras are beautiful, but just a tad too dark for what I was looking for. Black Magics are just perfect since our colors are red and black. I’ll definitely show pictures!

- Wedding: February 2014 - Windstar on Naples bay
I live in an expensive town so flowers were expensive anyways. And I’m doing all my centerpieces myself. The Bill was 485 and that was just for boutoners and corsages, two arrangments and a toss bouquet.

With my wedding right after valentines day I knew to avoid roses at all costs.
