The ones I’ve been looking at are http://www.aodaivinh.com and http://www.aodaiminhthu.com. Everyone I know who has gotten married used these sites and they said they were fine. Some people on weddingbee said their experience wasn’t that great. I don’t know if you can send them a pic to custom make though. Do you have any family in Vietnam that you could send the pic to?

How big is the Vietnamese community where you live? Is it possible there’s someone in your area who knows how to sew ao dai? My mom asked around where I am and found a local woman who made her ao dai for a reasonable price and it turned out well.

You may want to try to venture down to New Orleans. I know that there are a couple tailors in New Orleans East that will make it for a reasonable price if you bring in fabric. There are a couple stores that also sell just the fabric only and a few places that sell the entire ao dai. Minh Vy Fashion is one that comes to mind when I think about New Orleans. If you can’t find the item at Minh Vy, they can probably recommend a tailor for you.

This place called Y Nhu in San Jose is supposed to be really good! This is where the local pageant girls get their ao dai made.

@jbanhthon:

I have a friend who has a super good ao dai tailor in vietnam, if you provide him with phot of how you want it to be and your measurement, he can make it for $100 and I think he can also ship it to you. I am one picky person when it comes to clothes, dress or anything I wear, but I would consider having him design my ao dai because I’ve seen his work on my friends. She has so many ao dai that this person made for her, and they are soo gorgeous and the fabric is unique, one of a kind. Let me know if you still need help in this department.

@Simplicitydal: Do you know if he has a website of his previous work?  I’d love to see it.  Is he in Dallas?  I’m moving to Dallas in October, do you know where is a good place to live?

I actually just received my order from AoDaiVinh. The order was placed on may 9 and i received it today May 24 (estimated shipping date was for May 27). I am very satisfied with my aodai. I agree, the communication is definitely better before the payment and definitely lacking after payments. But all in all, my ao dai fits perfectly. I couldn’t be happier. I was very skeptical about ordering from this comapny because of all the bad reviews but i figured at this price it was worth the risk, and I am glad I did. So, if you are debating on whether you should give this place a shot… i say go for it!

My Ao dai is from Thai Nguyen couture (The designer for PBN and Asia singers)

That’s quite expensive, the one I got is cost $1000, but it totally worth, very beautiful. YOu could wear it many time as you like after the wedding if your Ao Dai is modern, unless you chos the tradition one with phoenix and dragon.

It would take about 2-3 month to made depend on when you need it.
