@leenh78:  I’m a millenial (1985), but SO will be 33 or 34 when we get married. My sisters are both from the 1970’s, and they were married young (22-23).

I’m sure there are plenty of thirtysomething ladies on here. Congrats! October is my favorite month : )

I’ll turn 36 the week before our wedding.  First marriage for both of us, waiting until I found THE ONE!

@leenh78:  Another GenX-er with a NH connection here!  I have a house in Meredith on lake Winnie!

@leenh78:  don’t feel old! Just think about how much more you have to bring to the table. I know myself and what I want in a partner and in life so much better than 10 years ago, and I have so much more to offer. We are skipping things like the bachelorette (been there done that), and a shower (we have enough “stuff” even after getting rid of things when FI moved in last year).  My best friends do want to celebrate so they’ll be hosting a small non-shower gathering (another bonus my friends are at a point in their lives to comfortably be able to host).    It also seemed to me, personally, a little silly to let my dad pay for the wedding (he offered) but that’s just a side effect of me being stubbornly independent.  I do think he’s going to gift us the wine for the reception.  Other than that we are having a fairly traditional wedding, despite being “old.”

Have you tried looking on the thirtysomething and fortysomething boards? There should be some Gen X brides there.

Personally, I’m a younger millenial (born in 1994) who isn’t even getting engaged for another four years. I am hooked on the Bee, though, and I have no shame about that. 🙂

@lilcafe:

@leenh78:  Another bonus to being “older” already having crossed major hurdles like buying your first home, makes being newlywed easier if your not worried about those things!

34 and getting married in October too!! This is my second time around though. Seriously, it’s much better to get married in your mid-thirties then settle for someone in your early 20’s. Lessons learned!!

@leenh78:  Exactly. I just said yes to the first guy that asked. Oh well, no regrets, it brought me to where I am today!
