I’m going to be a BM for the 7th time in an upcoming wedding. I hadn’t met most of her childhood friends before this. For the most part, it’s been a lot of work, but it’s been a lot of fun getting to know her girls and getting closer to the ones I already knew. There was a little drama but it was mostly from misunderstandings and miscommunications, which for the most part got soothed over.

I’m in my 8th wedding soon too. A LOT of drama in that bridal party. Mostly because some of the girls seems to be drama queens… I have tried to get a handle on some of it, but for a bit it was out of control. But it had nothing to do with the bride! Love her! Two of her girls however have been very difficult… One of my fellow BMs had to step in and set them straight… we’ll see what happens.

I was also a BM to a total Bridzilla years ago. Myself and another BM almost dropped out two weeks before the wedding because of how NASTY this girl was. My mom made a good point though – I commited to this, I have to see it through. So I took her abuse for two more weeks, saw her married and don’t talk to her anymore.

I feel like ANY wedding party can and will have a little bit of drama. There really isn’t anything anyone can do about it as it can happen for any multitude of reasons. But the right girls will try and squash it or minimize it as much as they can. However, I think a good friend and BM will not only NOT make drama for the bride, but any drama that happens between the BMs will be kept from the bride – because she has SO much other crap to deal with, she does not need to handle this as well.

@HappinessIsInDaisies:  I’ve been around the block once or twice. Hah hah.
Number 8 is a while off, and it’ll be my first round as MOH.

Bride 7 was actually a MOH TWICE last year, so it’s an honor to be in HER wedding.

I’ve been a bridesmaid only twice. The last time was 4 years ago and I decided, during that process that if/when I ever got married, I would definitely NOT have a bridal party. It was stress. Fairly nonstop. From beginning to end. Plus, there were too many bridesmaids (9) and most of us didn’t know each other. I don’t blame my friend (even if she was a liiiiittle entitled throughout the process), because the majority of the problems were between us bridesmaids.  I love my friend and was happy to stand up for her, but would have been just as happy to be a guest. Now, I only have an MOH (my best friend and blood cousin) and she’s overall been a disappointment. At this point, I kinda wish I hadn’t even chosen an MOH at all.

I’ve been an BM six or seven times. The brides never demanded things from me except the get the dress, show up, and look good. I’ve always had a great experience.
