Water, little travel sunblocks, different flyers for things to do, maps, snack foods....just a few ideas.
I love the citrus fruit from that area, I'd be happy with a bag of lemons and oranges. Maybe something beach related
@Ika:i'm having a destination wedding in sb too!!!! where is yours?? yay santa barbara!
We made a booklet with addresses, directions, schedule of events, things to do near the hotel, places to eat, etc. We also got maps and magazines from the local CVB for free!
@ Mrs Meowerson - We are having the ceremony at East Beach and the reception @ the fess parker doubletree. Where are you having yours?
Thanks ladies these are great ideas...keep them coming
Anyone know where to get nice but inexpensive tote bags?
ooo lovely! still looking at locations but thinking about the chase palm park carousel. luckily, Mr. Meowerson's brother is a fantastic caterer in SB, so we need a place that will let us use an outside caterer.
the doubletree is so gorgeous and i love how inclusive their package is! which rooms are you using? i LOVE their plaza.
There is a fantastic little bakery/restaurant on State Street in SB called Anderson's. They have amazing cookies, kringle, etc. A little something from there would be great to have in a welcome bag.
Ok, now I want to go to SB this weekend and eat there. mmmmm pastry.
Oh so pretty! When I think of SB mostly all I think of is wine, so I don't have any good OOT bag gift ideas to contribute... unless you want to give everyone a bottle of wine. ;) Santa Barbara coffee?
ooo spaniel got me thinking...maybe like a map with all the vineyards from "Sideways" on it, or something like that?
I got mine at Cheaptotes.com. They were Cheap but didnt look it at all. My bridesmaids loved them.
@ Mrs Meowerson-Would have loved to have it in the plaza but since I only have 30 people we will have in on the anacapa patio. Very nice but smaller from what I can tell in the pics.
@ Ladyox - thank you. We are going out there next week to wrap up all the loose ends I will definetly look for Andersons while we are there.
@ Spaniel - Now thats a good idea. Anyone know where to find inexpensive wine?
@ Miss Austin - Thats a good find. Now if I can just figure out how to screen print
@Ika: are most of your guests from Philly? Meaning, would generic 'california' type things work?
@Ika: If you don't need them to be SB specific, check out Trader Joe's when you get to CA. They will have a lot of California wines to choose from. Unless you're looking at 2-buck Chuck, you can probably get it for $5-6+ a bottle.
@Ika: I lived in SB for 4 years... and am a California native. I think going with more "California" type things, might be easier than SB type things (as I can't think of anything SB is particular known for (that would fit in a bag!). My east coast family always loves: See's Candy & In N Out. There's an In N Out about a 5 minute drive from East Beach... I'd put in a gift certificate and directions to that; directions to La SuperRica (amazing handmade tortillas); and a small box of See's Candy!
Edit: There's also an AMAZING hole in the wall ice cream shop on the pier - that's a MUST!
@oracle: I LOVE your In n Out and See's Idea. As a so cal born and raised girl I totally second that!
@oracle:I LOVE that ice cream shop!!!!
I got to SB about once a year, my grandma lives there and we always go to the ice cream shop.
There is a little diner at East Beach--you MUST try their banana panckakes. They are phenomenal.
I tried to talk my hub into doing a destination wedding in SB but he just wouldn't go for it. I even made him take a romantical stroll at the courthouse last summer...no dice. :P
Oh man now I'm going through SB withdrawls.....
If you have time while you are here you might want to check out Farmer's Market for inspiration: http://www.sbfarmersmarket.org/farmers.php. I really love the SB Pistachios.
For wine, check out grocery stores for local wines or http://carpinteriawineco.com/
If you want something they take home too, consider some coffee from SB Roasting company.
I have heard great things about Andersen's pastries too.
@Ika: Like PP said, if you're around on a Tuesday late afternoon/early evening, you can get goodies at the Farmer's Market.
If guests are going to be a around for a few days, a gift certificate for coffee at French Press is good, maybe tickets to one of the museums in town (or zoo). Also, the SB Museum of Art is free on Sundays. McConnell's ice cream is yummy, but unfortunately will melt in an OOT bag!

Hey Ladies,
We are from Philly but planning our destination wedding in SB. We have about 30 guests. Any ideas for fun things to fill our OOT bags with?
