For my wedding, we contacted a local day care teacher who had been recommended to us.We had a bit of inside information, she used to take care of my nephews.

Do you have any friends who have young children? Maybe they could put you in touch with someone they like and trust. Or you could call a well regarded day care center and ask if any of their teachers do private babysitting.

Call a nearby college and ask to speak with the education advisor. When I was in college as an education major we had a ton of opportunities to get extra credit by doing childcare different places.

The daycare is also a really good idea. Also, not sure if you have a church or not: if you do, talk with the youth pastor and see if there are some kids who are needing a way to earn money for camp or missions trip or just some that would be great with kids and willing to work with an evening.

My FSIL owns 3 day cares and one is 5 miles from our reception venue.    She has offered to open her center as long as we pay the employees.   She said she does it often for wedding.    So, check with local daycares and see what happens.
