While the design she came up with is cute, the current design is similar to what you’d find in a fashion magazine, which is going to make it feel more casual.  This isn’t a bad thing, but it won’t feel too fancy or formal with the current design elements.  If you want something that feels more formal, you might have to start from scratch.  I’d start with a different graphic; it can even be a simple flower or swirls.  Maybe consider putting it in a greeting card format; making that change for our invitations made a big difference.  Next I’d use a script font instead of the modern sans serif.

those are very cute! It’s tricky with no attachments, otherwise i would say a belly band with a suit looking heart. less is sometimes more embelishments. What about doing a monogram wax seal on the back of the envelope?

Ooops – didn’t catch that you’d sent them off.  The wax seal idea’s great!

Maybe an inner envelope? Or tie a ribbon around them?

Yup I agree with PP that you should tie a ribbon around them! Since the envelopes have red liners, I would stick to a black or gold/mustard-colored ribbon to complement the details on the invites. I disagree with the PP about the fonts, I think it looks lovely!! Good work!!!

@MsVoyageur:  I like the fonts, I just said they weren’t formal.

@Tangled:  Hi, I think there is an extra “h” in THIRTEEN on your invite that shouldn’t be there?

I think the idea of a tie ribbon would be pretty cute too
