My JP dress doesn't come in until January and I'm feeling soooo impatient. Would love to see pictures of other beautiful brides in their Jennys to help me cope!
I can't post at work (we use IE so the photo thingie won't open) but if you look at my previous thread, I posted my Packham. I went for an oldie but goodie- the Eden. Shes coming in December! What undergarments are you wearing with yours? I have a tendency to look boxy so I was thinking of doing a corset but I worry it might show through...
@RexManningDay: Moved over here so as not to completely take over that other thread!
Have you ladies decided on accessories? I'm struggling with this a bit. I'm not going to wear a veil and the dress has so much going on itself, so i want to keep things simple. (sorry rexmanningday, i know you want pics of these on brides! I'll get some in the near future :))

@atlbride2013: I tried on the eden and loved it! it's incredible. what color did you get it in?
@coffeeeeee: OMG, thank you!! I was just about to ask you about your accessories but I didn't want to threadjack!
I am having a hard time actually. I bought this headpiece which I do love:

But if I wear that, I definitely think a veil would be too much and I go back and forth on whether I want to do that or wear a Juliet veil:

So, yeah....also having a hard time totally deciding on my make-up.
I'm hoping things will be clearer once I get the actual dress and can try the headpiece on with it?
Would love to hear what you ladies think! :-)
@atlbride2013: I love the Eden! But on my body, the middle part hit me at just the wrong spot and made me look extra wide. Did you get ivory or platinum?
I can't wear a corset unfortunately, because the lace back on mine goes pretty low. I'm not even sure I can wear spanx (and I'll have to get cups sewn in). Hopefully I can lose about 10 pounds and look okay as is?
But you might be able to get away with a corset! Or you may also not need anything!
@coffeeeeee: Mine is in the ivory. I absolutely loved the beading on the gold but the dress has what i call "an oddly placed crotch flower" and i thought it really stood out in photos with the gold beading but not as much as the ivory.
As for accessories, I tried on only one veil and headpiece at the boutique but they weren't my cup of tea. I'll post photos when I get home. I really want to do a voluminous juliet veil for the ceremony though and then for the reception switch to roses in my hair.
@atlbride2013: I mean, these dresses kinda are begging for a juliet veil, I think.
@RexManningDay: that headpiece and veil are both amazing! maybe wear the veil for the ceremony and then switch into the headpiece? (with a friend to help who is verrrry careful). omg that veil is making me re-think the no veil thing...
in terms of make-up, i'm going to go really natural/light rather than trying to do anything that "goes" with the dress. FH isn't big into makeup, so i don't think he'd be too into me doing anything '30s inspired. but it would be beautiful to do soemthing like that.
@atlbride2013: I had the EXACT same thought about the flower! hahaha, yeah that would be awkward.
@RexManningDay: Love the headpiece. That is sooooo beautiful! Can you switch from veil to headpiece after the ceremony? As for makeup, I was looking at what Claire Pettibone sent down the runway for 2012 (wish i could post the photo now, will when i get home), very ethereal and fresh.
@coffeeeeee: You hit the nail right on the head. I would do the veil and switch to the headpiece for the reception, but I just think it would be best if the hairstylist put on the headpiece for me and it stayed put all night. Also, in a way, the headpiece is a showstopper and (since we're doing pics before the ceremony), then I wouldn't have any photos with the headpiece at all.
Ah, so many trite decisions to obsess over.
@RexManningDay: ie - looking boxy in the Eden. This is my biggest fear. I don't consider myself big by any means but I am already hitting the gym to lose 10 lbs and tone my arms. I'll have to add a corset to add some curves since I naturally have a lean athletic body type (no waist!). As beautiful as it is, it is a terribly unforgiving dress...
@RexManningDay: hm true. man that headpiece is amazing. i would love to see it with the dress when you have it!!!
@atlbride2013: Oooh. Just looked that up! Beautiful! Are you going to do a bolder color eyeshadow too?
I'm thinking of going with something like this:

But possibly with a redder lip:

@coffeeeeee: I'll post some pics when/if it all comes together. :-)
@atlbride2013: I saw the pics of you in the dress (and I know the sample is huge on you), but I think it's going to look great on you. It doesn't hit you in the same spot it hit me at all. Definitely post some pics here when you get it though! (And yes, toning up my arms is my current biggest obsession).
I was supposed to wear flats because my fiance is only an inch taller than me, but then I fell in love with these shoes and that went out the window.

@RexManningDay: gorgeous!
I think i'm going to wear flats...but i have no idea what...
I welcome any suggestions!!!
@atlbride2013: youre going to look incredible in that dress! it's true that it doesnt have a lot of shape, but it's going to look gorgeoous.
@atlbride2013: um, i just looked at your photos. this is not just a hypothetical "you're going to look amazing in that dress" you already do! even though the sample was too big on you. i dont think you're even going to need a corset.
@RexManningDay: those are going to look great with the dress! plus i like when the bride is taller than the groom! i think it looks really cute.
@coffeeeeee: Haha! Thanks! Funnily enough, I bought those shoes to go with my first dress. They were supposed to be my splurge item before the JP dress debacle happened. Though they actually ended up going better with the Jenny Packham dress. Meant to be?
For you, maybe flats that have a little sparkle to them that echo your dress?
Not necessarily this color, but I like how the buckle on it would go with the center design of your dress.
@RexManningDay: oh man, yes! so much better with your new dress! (just looked at your old vs new dress)
I was thinking something like that. maybe in blush? I would like to have a color, but i think the dress wouldnt work with a BRIGHT color.
I was also thinking about a t-strap heel. something like this, but in a different color (and smaller heel):
@coffeeeeee: YES! T-strap would be perfect!!
Not that you necessarily want to go with this color either, but one of my bridesmaids just bought these. Might be a good heel height?

@RexManningDay: those are lovely!! that's exaclty what i'm thinking but in some undetermined color....
@coffeeeeee: By the way, I just saw your other post about accessories with your Papillon. This is where I got my headpiece from, in case you're interested: http://www.etsy.com/shop/MillieICARO?section_id=6242992
I think she has some really lovely Art Deco pieces that go with the JPs!
Thanks ladies for all your lovely comments! I think as JP brides we are all going to make our guests go WOW. The dresses are all just so stunning.
For makeup, I'm going with a soft and romantic look. I'm also getting extensions before the wedding so I'm definitely thinking of doing some type of vintage undo. I also think that Kate Moss's juliet veil at her wedding was absolutely exquisite but finding a dupe for it hasn't been easy. Everything I've seen so far has either looked too much like a cap or doesn't have quite the amount of fabric volume.

@coffeeeeee: Those shoes are soooo cute! I actually love the black and gold so much, very art deco!
@atlbride2013: Thanks! :-)
Perfect choice for make-up and hair! I can't wait to see it all come together. It's going to look divine.
I know what you mean about the Juliet veils. It took me a while to find one I liked on Etsy. My mom is actually going to try to make me one. The problem is, one of the reasons Kate's is so gorgeous and falls so well is because it's silk tulle instead of bridal illusion tulle. Which is expensive (around $40-$50/yard).
If it helps, this is the Etsy seller I found that makes the one I put above. She's been really nice and has excellent reviews. It might be possible for you get something custom-made by her? http://www.etsy.com/shop/AgnesHart?ref=seller_info
So I'm not a jenny packman bride, but I am stalking this thread because I love love love the looks you are all going for! You will all look gorgeous ladies!
@RexManningDay: That headpiece is absolutely amazing!
@FoolsintheRain: Thank you so much! You're so sweet. I hope I can ultimately pull it off.
@RexManningDay: I back google image searched the veil you posted yesterday and found her etsy shop. I'm seriously rethinking not having a veil now....
@coffeeeeee: Having a veil or not having a veil has become my latest dilemma! Seriously!! I'm just hoping when my dress comes in I'll have an epiphany about it one way or another? Argh!
What sort of veil are you considering now? A Juliet cap also?
@coffeeeeee: Oh love! I also love that cap actually. When I ordered my headpiece, I didn't think it would be as big as it ended up being. But I actually looked back at that cap photo and was like, I can do this. Ha!
But because I have that amazing lace back on my dress, I really don't want to cover it up with my hair or a veil...which is why the side hair/side juliet veil are the options I'm considering.
@RexManningDay: Yeah, a juliet veil. When i bought my dress and they put a veil on me, it totally didn't go with the dress and i felt overwhelmed by it. then they put a birdcage veil on me, which i like on other people, but also really didn't work with the dress. I've never tried on a cap veil so i'm not sure how it would look on me and how i would feel in it.
@RexManningDay: Yeah you definitely dont want to cover up that back! it's amazing.
Yeah i love that cap too. i'm not sure i can pull it off though.... i mean i think it would really work with my dress, but it's definitely intense!
@coffeeeeee: I know. You have to own it for it to work (same with my headpiece, I think, so I'm trying to work on my confidence with it)! That being said...I think that cap would look A-MAZING with your dress.
I know juliet veils are kinda hard to find in bridal shops. What I ended up doing was buying some cheap tulle from the fabric store. Then my mom gathered it and we tried it out just to see what it would look like. The only thing is, it's the type of veil, IMO, that really needs silk tulle to work and not the bridal illusion tulle (because it needs to fall instead of being stiff). So it was good to get an idea, but if I really want to take the plunge, we'll be going to buy some silk tulle.
Do you already have your dress or are you going to be picking it up from the store? If you're still going to be picking it up, I think you could have them fudge a regular veil on you (if they don't have a juliet cap), to look similar to that gathered style. Just to get an idea!
@RexManningDay: That's a great idea. I have the dress already (bought the sample bc apparently they dont make the Papillon any more and the sample fit. score!) But it's at my parents' house, so I'll have to wait til i go there. but I think i'll get some tulle just to get an idea too!
