I’ve looked at her website before but was still a bit intimidated.

We really need a king headboard (preferable footboard too) but am too scared to try it.  My husband is pretty good with woodwork stuff but doesn’t have a lot of patients so I don’t know how well he would do.

I always thought solid wood was still really expensive, how did you build that bed fram for $80?

Yes! I <3 that site.

We’ve saved plans for a BUNCH of things that we want to build (when we have the time/when other projects get done).

I’m very impressed by the bed & table!

Was it all that difficult to make either? We’ve been looking to buy a new dining set & i actually showed my partner the site & suggested we build our own, but I think he was a little intimidated by the whole idea himself  (even though I was totally gung ho :P)

Okay – so I’ve never seen this site before now but how cool!  It makes me really want to go build something now!  Too bad there really isn’t anywhere in our apartment that’s condusive to building.

I did pass some of the instructions for building a bed on to my sister though.  She’s looking to move out of her sorority house and into an apartment next year and needs bedroom furniture.  She was trying to figure out how to afford some nice stuff that will last her for many years so maybe her and her SO (and/or my dad) can build her a bed!

I love that site! It seriously intimidates me, though. Everything you have built so far has been beautiful! How difficult was the bed? I want to build it but am afraid!

How funny! I have been drooling over the Farmhouse table for 2 months and really want to try building it!!

Had you ever done anything like this before?  How was the learning curve?  Did you cut your wood yourself?  I have been thinking of having Home Depot make the cuts for me,

I think this site is neat.  However, not a lot of people own table saws or chop saws.  Some of the materials you’d have to pay for (like paint) that she has lying around.  My advice, search craigslist especially in college towns and look for furniture that’s free or nearly free and refurb it (by distressing, striping, or painting).  Also, I don’t know how well you could do this if you lived in an apartment (due to the smell and noise).

You might be able to get Lowe’s/Menard’s/Home Depot to saw the stuff for you if you give them exactly what you want.
