    Have you considered moissanite?

cdpslh913059487:  I guess technically I have a lab created stone, as I have a FB OEC moissanite. It’s absolutely beautiful, and I love it. Although, I have no problem with lab-created stones, I just wouldn’t want a CZ (for durability reasons).

My rings have natural diamonds, but Chatham Rubies. I love them! The fire in them is stunning.

I love lab created stones. I don’t have one, but I think they’re fantastic. They’re more expensive than you might expect though.

I love lab created stones!  I always thought it’d be neat for BF to get me one because we work at a national lab & it’s how we met 🙂

What is your budget? We can probably help with some options. What size are you looking for? Any particular shape?

Moissanite is a really great option, I have one and love it. The shape/cut affects the price quite a bit – and also whether you upgrade in color or not.

Lab diamonds are really expensive, and it’s very hard to find ones on the larger side (someone please correct me if this info is obsolete).

Lab created sapphires can be pretty affordable and so can natural heat treated sapphires.

cdpslh913059487:  I agree a peachy pink moissy would look awesome as a right hand ring..im not a huge fan of colored stones for an engagement ring.  If your trying to save money instead of ethical reasons you may want to look into laser drilled clarity enhanced diamonds..they are way cheaper than unenhanced diamonds..just be sure they are certified laser drilled diamonds and not fracture filled. Goodoldgold.com has a great article on clarity enhanced diamonds.

Lab-created diamonds aren’t cheap, especially in large sizes. I’ve never even seen one for sale much over 2 carats. Even a 3 carat moissanite would be over $1000.

cdpslh913059487:  I have a lab created sapphire from Wink CZ in this ring, It’s very pretty and was really affordable.

I don’t know if Wink still has lab gems or not, but moissaniteco does.

I doesn’t look like they have any in a pear cut, but they do have ovals. It may be worth it to contact them and ask if they will be adding pears, or if they could special order one.

cmbr:  yup.  Technology has only recently made over 1 carat available, and they’re not much cheaper than natural.
