Hi!  did you book any vendors yet?  My fiance' and I live in Brooklyn, so it's kind of difficult planning from 2 hrs away...ah!  We are coming out this weekend to meet photographers and DJs.

We are having the wedding at Hotel Bethlehem

We are using Nuesse Photography, Phoebe Flowers, Gruvin Enterprises for our DJ, 2 daises design for my day of wedding coordination, and simply smooth for our limo.

What about you?  I am also planning on doing my hair and makeup at technicolor salon in bethlehem.

Let me know if you have any specific questions. I am still working on a lot of things (to many for being almost 3 months away!!!)

I recommend Laser DJ -- they do uplighting and the Monogram Gobos...if anyone is looking for that.  Phoebe can't be beat for florals!

Nuesse does beautiful photos, but can get pricey!!  I recommend Steve Klaver.  He does photo journalistic and does some gorgeous work.  He's also extremely affordable.

Hi!  I'm getting married in Bethlehem, PA as well!  June 27th of this year is our big day!  We're getting married at Green Pond Country Club and having our reception there too.  W're using Freddie Frederick, Jr. as our DJ ~ I really really really wanted him and he was the first vendor we booked (last February!)  I am also using Technicolor Grand for all of my beautification services.

I am getting married October 9th in Bethlehem.  We have done a lot of comparison pricing and bridal shows.  Our reception is going to be at Saucon Valley Acres in Bethlehem.  I was born and raised here and didn't even know it existed - the place is beautiful and the owners are great to work with.  Also, I hate the idea of spending $30 or more per person for a bar charge when half the people don't drink.  They allow you to bring your own in, and they supply the bartenders.  This is saving us thousands we can put toward something else.  We are using Haven House Photography and they do beautiful work at a great price.  Our cake is from Village Bake Shoppe (was included with reception) but we chose them to do our flowers as well.  They are a little pricier for the centerpieces than other quotes, but they explained more of what we would be getting.  Good luck!!

I'm not getting married in Bethlehem (maybe if my fiance was a Lehigh alum also ...) but I just saw that the Sands is supposed to open in June at the old Bethlehem Steel grounds. It looks like there are two buildings on the grounds that will be a museum (National Museum of Industrial History, affiliated with the Smithsonian). It's probably not the most romantic venue, but it might be a cool place to have the reception!

And - since they're opening up the grounds, you might be able to get photographs among the old blast furnaces, etc. I bet the contrast of the bride and groom all dressed up with the old industrial machinery would make amazing photographs.

A friend of mine got married at Hotel Bethlehem - it's a beautiful venue!

I live in Bethlehem but am getting married in Philly. Technicolor is my regular salon and I'd highly recommend them. Danielle is great. Easton Bakery made the best wedding cake I have ever tasted and I believe it was under $200 for a 150 plus wedding. I've been to two recent weddings at Hotel Bethlehem and they have the best filet I've ever had. I'd warn the mural ballroom can get crowded if you are going 130 plus, I was at a great wedding there where the dance floor was just so small we kept falling off.

I also know a friend had a great experience with Easton Trolley. Douglas Benedict is a great area photog. http://www.douglasbenedict.com/

@OctoberOrchid: I really want to try to convince my  photog to do our engagement shoot up here because I heart the blast furnaces.

@sarks624: You should try! There are so many amazing photos from the blast furnaces. Maybe if you show your photographer he'll be convinced!

    I found this site - http://www.bethlehem-pa.gov/about/imageGallery/historicalBethlehemSteel.htm

Hopefully they're letting people in to walk around - it was always locked up when I was living there. If you do it, I'd love to see pictures!

    Hey All!

I am also getting married in Bethlehem but on September 5, 2009. I am kind of feeling your pain as I live outside of Philly. I have recruited my Mom to do some of the dirty work since she still remains in that area.

Well we are having the wedding at the Bethlehem Masonic Temple. It's a place where many of my family members have had their reception or get togethers. It is a huge place that holds up to 400 guests which is great for my 200+ guests. Their price per plate is 24.95 which is great for my small budget.

Since I am not really a flower person, I chose a silk florist in Walnutport called Forever Silks (www.foreversilks.com). I am actually letting Ginny use her imagination and creativity to come up with a funky bouquet for me. I will get my bouquet, a toss bouquet, 6 bouts, 3 corsages and loose petals for $150.

I am using Haven Hill Photography (www.havenhillphotography.com/). Great price and the owner Lisa has such a wonderful personality. I have spoken with Agnes from Nuesse. She is wonderful but unfortunately her starting price was way out of my league (unfortunately because her work was fantastic). As some of the other girls, I am also using Technicolor for my hair and for the other attendants. I never used them before but I have heard wonderful things about that place.

I saved the best for last, the cake. I nearly went with Village Bake Shoppe but I didn't like the way they were treating my Mom or I so I did a little research and found this wonderful bakery called Granny Schmidt's Bakery (www.grannyschmidts.com) located in Emmaus. The starting price for most of their cakes were less then the starting price for Villages. Michelle has been so great working with me and the cakes are so delicious!! My sister even said that the sample cake was the best wedding cake she has ever tasted. If you know a little bit about wedding cakes, then it would be good for you to know that the baker, Colleen, was an apprentice for the famous Sylvia Weinstock.

     Good luck with your planning!

    Hello everyone,

I am also a LV bride. I am getting married on October 10th, 2009 on a family farm just south of Bear Creek Ski Mountain. We have a lot done, so far, but i am in need of an officiant and a seamstress to add a corset in the back of my dress...any suggestions?

     Good luck to everyone!

I don't have her name handy but if you call Bridal's by Sandra in Nazreth they can recommend a great seamstress (they won't take dresses that aren't bought there but they have a woman who helps out when they are really busy who works out of her home). She did an excellent reasonable job on a bridesmaid dress for me

CassieBeth    October 23rd, 2010   Topton/Kutztown, Pa and Lansdale, Pa

Hey guys, I live in Topton, PA- right outside of bear creek, and kutztown. My fiance is from Kutztown, born and raised. I am originally from Lansdale, Pa- right off the turnpike, south of lehigh. I am having my wedding in October, 23rd, 2010. We booked a reception/ceremony- in the same place- and catering included. I wanted to book and I wanted to book fast! :-)

Now it seems that only the little stuff are left from here on out....

and by little- i mean the HUGE list of stuff to do.... :-)

@raeszxtwo-im from a similar area and am having a pretty difficult time finding a farm/barn venue setting that is reasonably priced and allows me to bring my own caterer. just out of curiosity, does your families farm often hold events? im doubting thats the case, but i figured it doesn't hurt to ask. im sure your wedding was beautiful!

im doing my best not to settle on a reception place that isn't beyond wonderful..im running out of time :/
