So excited to be a part of this community of brides to be! Can’t wait to chat with you all about the planning process. 🙂
I’m curious if anyone out there is getting married on Long Beach Island, NJ. My family has vacationed there for years, and I’d love to explore it as an option.
Where venue did you decide on and what options did you look at? What’s great and what’s not? Anyone have any luck renting a home for the occasion?
PS – Especially looking for alternatives to Bonnet Island and Mallard Island (though they are LOVELY!). I’m just assuming they’re pretty pricey … but correct me if I’m wrong?
Thanks so much all! Would love to hear all about your big days.

I’m getting married at Bonnet Island this September! You are right – it is pretty pricey (I’m lucky my parents have offered to help out a lot), but I’ve tried to control the spending in other areas to balance it all out. The catering fees are actually pretty much on par with what you find in NJ – but since BIE and Mallard are “private estates”, you have to pay an additional “estate rental fee”. The caterers and people who work at BIE have a great reputation tho. It’s been smooth sailing so far, and I don’t even live in NJ anymore so I’ve been doing everything long-distance. There are absolutely cheaper options tho – the Stateroom is one, and the Gables is another I think. I think if you google “LBI weddings” some other venues would pop up.
My parent’s have a house on LBI, and FI’s parents found one to rent for the weekend – so we’re really excited about spending the wedding weekend on the island! We’re using MDS for flowers and the Artist Group for photography – both LBI/Manahawkin locals, and reasonably priced for NJ.
Feel free to message me with other questions!

magazinegirl37: I am having my ceremony in ship bottom on the bay at sunset park (13th street and bay terrace) and the reception is at the Boathouse Restaurant in beach haven!<br />they don’t do August weddings however, so if you want to change the date to sept. or oct. then its beautiful there!

I’ve been to several bridal and baby showers at the lobster shanty in Point Pleasant if you’re willing to go off LBI. – I believe they also do weddings.
And also Martells Waters Edge in Toms River.
