My fiance and I have a very strict budget for our wedding. I know we won’t be able to have it in a fancy hall or anything, since the rental for most of those places is 3/4 of my total budget. I’m hoping to find a rental hall, you know, where it’s just an open room and all they do is supply the tabels and chairs? Kind of like a Knights of Columbus type place… but a little on the nicer side. Would anyone be able to recommend a place? Did you have your wedding or event there? Did you go to a wedding or event there? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you dont mind me asking what is your budget? My Fi and I looked at some awesome but not very expensive places.

Also is location important? Suffolk county, nassua?

@SparkleBee11: I think totally we’re going to have $5K that we are chipping in and anticipating $2K from family.
I think right now we would consider both Suffolk or Nassau. We live in Suffolk and things seem to be a little cheaper out here.

Idk if you have looked at that. They have just rooms with chairs.
Which are all very affordable to rent the space.
Suffolk is definitely cheaper.
Party Room Rentals Long Island
set up for a kids party but the room is definitely rentable.
I would call DJs and such. They may have done events at these lower key places and can suggest a few places.

How many guests? I can’t remember the place but I went to a wedding years ago and it was a small affair, 2nd marriage, but on the water luncheon. It was lovely. You could find a really nice restauran,maybe a place you already like and just have a luncheon type affair. I wish I could remember the place. She came by boat and the ceremony was out back in their gazebo. Then lunch was inside and very good. Sorry I can’t be of more help.

FH’s sister had her wedding at the VFW in Centereach by the bowling alley. From what they said they were very nice there and more then accomodating. I dont know if they supplied tables and chairs though. Call and find out. Cant hurt!

@girlymetalchick: try to think outside the norm for venues–I suggested to a musician friend of mine to have it at Vail-Leavitt Music Hall, her DH is a musician too–they did and LOVED it, they got married on stage (not sure if you’ve been there but it’s a really old historic theater with side balconies and everything) and then there are separate rooms for reception area. They usually didn’t do weddings, that may have been the first but it was super cheap, like $300 or something! Also if you want rustic, there are lots of farms out in eastern Suffolk, privately owned that may be open to the idea. Good luck.
