I’m just curious to see if any bees moved after marrying their SO and how was the adjustment. My FI may possibly be getting a job offer in another state. It’s bittersweet because I’m extremely happy for him but of course sad to leave my family and the only place I’ve ever known. But there’s something romantic about the two of us beginning our lives together, just us, depending on eachother 😉

Similar situation, but different country. However, it will be a new city for both of us, and the particular city is because of a job offer. In my case this will happen in about a year.
There are certain aspects I’m excited about, but mostly I’m sad to have to leave my family. I’m also nervous about job prospects because my job doesn’t travel well over the border.

We moved from Southern California to North Carolina the day after our wedding. It’s not easy to leave everyone behind, but it definitely made it feel like we are really really married. Now that I’m pregnant, I do wish we had family nearby.

There’s that potential for us too! It’s really exciting but also kinda scary for me. And to add even more fun to the mix – my FI is in medical school, so we won’t even find out where we’ll be moving to until about a month and a half before the wedding! But I definitely agree that it’s an experience that really unites you two!

@Mrs_Pacman: We moved a couple months after we got engaged (so last June). It was nice to start our lives together as a couple in an area away from our families. Even though we would have gotten our own place back home and still started living together as a couple, there is just something different about doing it 8 hours away from our families. It’s definitely been an adventure!
That being said, I really do miss my family. We’re hoping to move back in a few years (ideally before we have kids). I think if it were a permanent situation I would be having a harder time because I’m very close to me family. However, since I know we will be back there at some point I am enjoying living in a different state!
