I'm a May 15th Bride and feel like I am WAYYYYY behind. I have the venue, dress (which needs some work), just ordered my invites. Still need caterer, photog, flowers, vases, etc....oh yea and dj. have a meeting with oen next week. Also have my cupcake tier but nothing signed.

I am May 14, 2011! I have booked our venues, officiant, photographer, florist and transportation. I am probably a little ahead, but I live out of town, so it is a bit challenging to get everything done!

@silly rae: So far all we've booked is our venue, but we're very close to booking our caterer and photographer.
We're probably going to have a friend of ours officiate, but if he doesn't want to do it, that'll be next on the list. I've gone dress shopping but I want to lose a few pounds before actually buying one, and I know that if I pick one too soon, I'll second guess myself a million times.
Next on the list is figuring out flowers (I might just do them myself) and then I can breathe for a while.

It's about time we got excited :). My dashboard countdown says we only have 470 days left.
We've booked the church & reception hall (which will handle all the food, but we haven't decided on the menu), but that's it so far. We've also picked our wedding colors & asked all the bridal party. I've dress shopped and found the perfect one but am wait to buy it (gotta save some more $$).
It's gonna be a busy next year & a half.
I have finally been able to set my date...sigh. :) It's for May 14, 2011 too. :)
I found that my venue (banquet hall in my town) is open then. I like it because it has a cute gazebo outside (where I'm hoping to have the ceremony - fingers crossed! and then an indoor reception. It's a place where there's plenty of parking, has a decent area for dancefloor, seating, bar, etc. :) Then, if worse came to worse...coouulld have ceremony indoors..but until then, I'm excited about the outdoor ceremony in the lil' gazebo. Yeah, it's standing room only...buttt....I'm looking for under 100 people. The hall said they've done weddings out there w/ 200 people, so I should be set. :)
I'm looking to do a heavy hors d'oeuvres reception, but I hope to add in pasta and bread and lil' dessert stations too. :) It's for a Sat. evening, cuz I want dancing all through the night kinda time and allow my guests to mingle and try all sorts of foods. I hope I can pull it off.
Anyway, yeah, I've been tryin to come up with ideas for a couple months now in between us getting a house too and I'm excited to finally be able to have some of these plans more concrete.
Also, was so anxious I picked up my dress from preownedweddingdress.com. Though I did try it on a couple weeks ago...but it's not fitting quite right. Err....all the fast food and stress from moving from our apt. to the house has obviously been a deterent. However, I just HAD to get the dress and try it...since it was under $200.
Our budget...well we aren't quite sure. It's probably going to be $4000-5000, but that's probably including the HM. I think.... Still workin' on that.
ANYWAY...thanks for listening to my rant..haha. I'm just excited now that I have a date for sure! :)
Good luck with your planning ladies. I don't think it's too early to start...as you can see I'm already workin' on it too. haha.

We have hired our wedding planner, booked our venue (We got our #1 choice! Woot!), meeting with the DJ tonight, I asked my BMs and MOH (FI is slacking on that one!), made an appt at Kleinfelds and applied to Say Yes to the Dress, but they havent responded! Lame! hahaha. I think that is it! We are having everything at one location so we dont need to book a church....like Smiles1979 we are also having a heavy heavy hors d'oeuvres cocktail type reception which I am totally pumped about!!!!! Our planner has a lot of her niche places in mind that she really likes to use so that narrows a lot down. we just really have to meet with them and approve, so I am not THAT stressed. The venue was the most stressfull thus faR!

Soo awesome about appt. at Kleinfelds and at least applying to the show, SYTTD! One of my fav shows. :)
If I had a much bigger budget, I think I personally would make an appt. at Kleinfelds and make at appt. with Keisha (sp?) and have Randy give his opinion. :) I think those 2 are my favs.

BTW-totally booking the DJ! He is amazing! I had read so many great things about him prior to the meet and greet that I pretty much knew that we were going to hire him right away. Someone from VA is getting married in NY on our date too and called him last week and asked him already! He save the date for us though. PHEW!!!!!
I will tell you. Us May 14th 2011ers are REALLY on the ball!!!!

haha..well I'm tryin' to be on the ball, but it's tough already..haha.
Our DJ is one of my FI's cousins. He does some DJing for weddings and things as well as a bartender, but he can't do both jobs..haha. I haven't experienced his cousin doing any DJing...but I know he's a really outgoing person and so I can only imagine he'd do a good job. :) Well I mean, it's his gift to us..so we aren't going to say no! :) Plus, my FI's aunt already told us the other day that his cousin would have been insulted if we didn't take him up on his offer to be our DJ. He recently got engaged himself, but it's not going to be around our timeframe, so that's good too.

Trying to get the boy to go back to STL w/ me for a weekend so we can meet w/ the priest and FINALLY set a date, but may 14 is definitely one of the ones we're eyeing. or the 20th or 21st
woohoo for 5/14! I JUST booked the church last week... and other than that, I haven't done much else. Ha.
I've been searching in mags for gowns I like, but am waiting to try any on until I lose a few lbs. Is anyone else dieting before trying on dresses?
Hey Team, when are you all planning to book your photographers? I'm not sure when is too soon and when is too late.
My first wedding dress appt is on 4/10th, so I am not really dieting per se, but def keeping up the work outs and eating healthy! I wanted to stop eating cheese for a little bit (i.e. Pizza), but I gave in already! hahaha
I want to book my photog soon. I feel like anything or anyone that needs to be secured on our date should be booked asap. Both my venue and my DJ had offers waiting on our booking! That makes me nervous!
Do you guys ever feel like you are doing a lot and you wont have much to do for a while bc we are so far out?????
Well, I'm glad to see you ladies are on the ball. :)
I've had to re-evaluate my sitch...grr.. Ended up realizing I don't have the $ that I thought I would...my FI and I are paying for everything ourselves (at this point). I may have fam. to help, but if they can help, it won't be alot. So, I am still figuruing on my plan of having to do this on my own.
My budget right now looks like pretty much $5000 and that's wedding and hm. I reallllllly want to not have to budge on my FI's and my want to go to WDW for our honeymoon, but that means eating up over 1/2 the budget......sigh! Leaving me with pretty much $2000 to do the rest of the wedding and now having to find another venue (my 1st venue plan fell through).
Okay..enough for now about my 'woe is me' feeling. haha.
Happy to see that you ladies have things a little more settled down...even if the date is a little farther out. It seems like I'm always reading/hearing that you NEED to book things out this far in advance if you want to get certain vendors...so then I don't think it's too early.
@cabanagrl9: Well, yes and no. Some things you need to work on booking now and other things you can wait until later...just have to figure out what those things are. :)

I'm May 14, 2011 too! Everyone keeps telling me I'm "getting ahead of myself" and planning too early but I feel like I'm gonna lose my top choices if I don't book now... May is peak wedding season!
We have booked our venue (which doubles as ceremony and reception), DJ, photographer, & cake. I picked out our videographer and florist but I'm waiting on contracts before I deposit.
I LOVE wedding planning :o)
I definitely don't think it's too early! I almost lost out on my first choice photographer to another bride--and that was two months ago! I am meeting with a potential videographer next week. The one thing I am holding out on is my dress--I still want to shed a few pounds and I also don't want to be second-guessing my decision for the next year.
lergx6: Be careful about May 21--it is Wash U graduation weekend and things could be a bit crazy (especially if you are blocking hotel rooms). I know that was the weekend we originally going for, but I called many of the hotels we were interested in (we have many out of town guests) and many said they were unable to block rooms that weekend. I've gotten a bit more done since this was posted last month.
We've booked our venue, caterer and photographer. I bought a dress, although I'm not 100% sure I'm going to wear it. Our friend has agreed to officiate, and I've spoken to a florist I like, although I'm unsure if we're going to go with her for sure.
@Sugar Plum: Where are you from in Pgh? I am from there as well! I live in New York now, but I am originally from Bethel Park. It was a tough decision deciding btw Pgh and NY for our wedding! On one hand I am bummed that my friends that have never been to Pgh wont get to experience it, but on the other hand I am very excited to have my family and Pgh friends see my life here in NY! Where are you getting married???

How is everyone doing??? Any updates?! We have hired the photographer and I had my first dress try on! We went to Kleinfelds and they were filming Say Yes to the Dress, but honestly I didnt even realize they were there when I was trying on! I found one I really love, but I am waiting for my mom to come so she can see it too.
Have you girls looked at dresses yet??????
Hey everyone...I got engaged on Christmas 2009 and will be getting married on May 14th, 2011.
So far we have picked the date, have decided who will be standing up for us, picked the flower type and colors for the wedding.
Within the next few weeks we will be checking out wedding/reception venues in town (Wausau, WI).
Can't wait to read about everyone else's plans as they progress!

We just booked our date finally last week, so I am now proud to say I'm a member of the May 14th brides!! Our ceremony/reception venue is booked, which is a restaurant as well so food is good to go (but nothing finalized yet). I am about to book our photographer, just need to talk to her on the phone. And I just went dress shopping for the first time this weekend!! This is so exciting, it really feels like it's happening now :PPP
When's everyone doing their save the dates? When we booked, my mom was like "You better get on that now!"
We are planning on using an engagemen picture for our STD and we are going to get those take in June (hopefully. we havent booked a date yet! hahaha) and then have them sent out in September maybe? Thats 9 months in advance, so thats plenty of time. I just hope its not TOO far in advance!
What are you guys doing about buying your dress? I am pretty sure I found "my one" and my mom is coming in next weekend to look at it and hopefully buy, but i am scared its too far in advance! It will literally be 1 yr to the wedding.
ALSO-has anyone else stalked the 10 day weather forecast to see what its going to be like on May 14th this year???? No?!? hahaha. I totally have and so far it looks like its going to be a crappy day!!! hopefully it will clear up by next year. hahaha
Not only did I check the 10 day forcast (also supposed to be yucky here) but I went as far as to research the weather for the past 5 years in this area... oh good it's rained every year since 2005 on May 14th... praying we break that for 2011 cause I'm supposed to get married outside!
I found my dress yesterday!!! I'm going to wait until July/August to order it though (lose a few more pounds 
). As you can see in the picture it didn't quite fit...but I still felt like a princess in it.
Also found my sister's dress (she's my MOH) and dresses for my 3 nieces (flower girls)...they are all going to be the same fuschia colored dress.
Tomorrow my FI and are both off of work so we scheduled some appointments to check out a few venues. Hopefully we will be lucky and find the perfect spot.
So what is everyone else doing these days? Is everyone doing save the dates? I found some on Vista Prints online that looked good and were inexpensive (I've used that company before for business cards...inexpensive, good quality and fast shipping).

@sugarplum-that is HILARIOUS! i did the same thing too......hahahahha. AND the weather hasnt held up very well! AND i am getting married outside too! argh. hopefully the weather gods will be on our side next year!
@Amber-BEAUTIFUL! I love the back of the dress. anything that shows off the back is a fav of mine!
I have attached pics of the bridesmaid dresses and MOH dress. This is from the designers website. The girls will have a few options to choose from (style wise) but will pretty much be in this color. My MOH will be in the tri colored dress. I want them all to be mini dresses too! hahaha.

Hi everyone! Just thought I'd join in: I'm a new Bee, but have been engaged since January and will be getting married May 14, too. How great is it that there is a whole group of us getting married on the same day :)
So far we've booked our venue and I have my dress. Other things have been planned, but no confirmations yet! Feels like I'm so behind, haha.

im may 14th too!!!! yay! i feel like i have soooooooooooo much to do and i am a detail freak soooooooooooooo :) i have booked the reception venue... gotta finish my classes b4 i book the church... the cake, and i am getting my catering qoute figured out and then that will be done.... i have no clue on a photog!!! :( no dress yet either haha! but im gettin there!
