Looking back at all the items I have bought, I am almost done shopping! I tend to get excited about things and go all out!
I have already got my dress, im going with my bridesmaids on friday to get their dresses. We booked a caterer, potographer, baker and DJ. And we have our venue and reception site.
With every pay check I always buy a few items that I see on sale for my wedding, usually at michales cuz they have the 40%-50% off coupons every week! I got my invitations, vases, ribbions, guest book, ect.. there and all 40-50% off! yay! Im just glad I got alot of it outta the way, it's relieving! I know I won't be as stressed out when it is closer to my date. :)
Hello Kikalaha,
Wow, you really have a lot done already. Let's see we have the wedding venue (booked it before we were formally engaged) because it's on a military base and they book up fast! Okay, ceremony and reception site (same place), cake was ordered last Saturday (yummy), we registered for gifts and yeah I think that's it. We have met with photographers and florits, we just need to make a final decision. The DJ, well that will be hard. I need someone bi-lingual that can play good music but isn't cheesy.
I love that you mentioned Michaels because that is where I will get most of my stuff from too. Were your invites DIY? The florist we choose will take care of vases, but we need invitations (I'm making them) and ribbon for our cake!
So much left to do...I need to catch up to you!
it's so exciting! It took me a while to find a bi-lingual Dj, but it was worth the time I spent! My fiance is hispanic and we definately need some good tunes! :) Just don't let them charge you extra for it! This one guy was gonna try and charge us over $100 more! which is crazy! We ended up finding someone with better music, and way cheaper!
Yes my invites are DIY, I got them on clearance for $20! They have really nice ones there from $29-39. And they have new ones on clearance every other month! They had ribbion on sale at michales the other day when I went they were 2 for $5, and the good kind!
You can also sign up for michales e-mails, you get a new coupon every week and they send you the new ads as well, so you can see ahead of time if there is anything good on sale! I like to just pop in there from time to time cuz they have good stuff on clearance! I got some really nice candy jars for my candy buffet from $1.99-$3.99!! I love michales! :)
Hmm. I've bought my dress, my MOH's dress (only one attendant), booked the church, reception site, photographer, officiant, and rehearsal dinner location. I need to finalize my DOC, but I think she's set.
So, now I need decide on invitations, send out STDs, work on the website. I'm working on the cake and flowers. Oh, and we still haven't asked the Best Man. And I haven't decided on children in the wedding or not.
Hi ladies,
I just found this thread, how nice to see where everyone else is at at this point. Well we have so far booked our place, made deposits on DJ, and photographer. Bought my dress and shoes, booked my hairdresser, got our guest list pretty much in order, I bought my table runners this week along with the vases, candles for the tables, I am determine to be able to relax the last mont or so before, lol ya right! Well I hope I am running ahead of the game :)
Hi! I'm getting married May 15, 2010 in La Jolla, CA. The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoors and the reception inside.
I took care of the big stuff first to help me determine how much I have left in my budget for the small stuff. For example, I ordered my dress, booked the reception & ceremony venue, booked the photographer & DJ, currently in process of designing my invites, decided on menu, decided on cake, booked hairstylist, determined where dress rehearsal will be, have our invite list with addresses, sent std e-mail, created website, hired a coordinator,
Still need to order/decide on groom and groomsmen suits, order bridesmaid dresses, select florist, determine decor, take care of small details (ringbearer pillow, flowergirl basket). Another big thigk I have left is the honeymoon.
Whew....i look at the list and think wow...i've done a lot. Othertimes I look at my list and think oh no!...I've got a long way to go!
wow Deelim, you have done alot! Good for you! I just started thinking about my invites, when are you guys planning on sending yours out?
@ MexicanMami: We came really close to choosing May 15th, but ended up with the 22nd instead. We're also getting married in San Diego (well, in Julian, but we're from SD) and I have a Maggie Sottero dress! I think now is a good time to order your dress. Mine came in exactly 2 months, but it was kinda a freak occurrence - I've heard you should order at least 8 months in advance, and Maggies normally take 6 months to arrive.
We're getting married on May 15, 2010 in Wilmington, DE. The ceremony will be in a church and the reception is on the terrace of a country club which is a historic mansion. It took us a really long time to figure out where and when we were going to have the wedding (I'm from CA and he's from DE and we met in Boston), so I feel like I'm totally behind a lot of you, but things are starting to come together.
We have the ceremony and reception venues, we chosen a photographer, we know who will make the cake (it's part of the package at the reception venue) but we haven't picked out the design or flavors, and we have room blocks at two hotels since the majority of our guests are from out of town. We've asked all of our bridal party to be in the wedding. I know which invitations we are going to get, but am still in the process of figuring out the save-the-dates. I think we've also found our DOC. I've started researching bands, DJs and florists, but haven't decided on those yet. I just started shopping for my dress last weekend. I also know which wedding website host I want to use, but haven't created the site yet. And we haven't registered.
So much to do! But I'm excited to be able to move forward finally. Good luck with your planning! : )
So far we have all the biggies figured out, it's just a matter of paying for it! *argh* We've got down payments for our venue (ceremony and reception are at the same place) and our photographer, but we're still waiting to do the same for our caterer/rental supplier and florist. I have my dress and the bridal party attire is picked out, but they have until January to purchase it. We also registered at Crate and Barrel (doesn't everyone? but I love their stuff). Doing some DIY favor trials right now, but it's hard to get excited about anything when the economy is screwing us so badly.
Hey! I am now a May 15th bride! We were getting married May 8th but due to Mother's Day and decorations we decided to go with the next weekend! Just wanted to say hello. Oh, we have booked our venue, caterer, band, photographer, florist, put money down on chair, tables, tent, etc., found our soloist for the ceremony, and we've booked our officiant. I have also purchased material for bridesmaids and flowergirl dresses and found the seamstress to make them :) Yea!! We are trying to get as much done as we can before January b/c I will be starting back to Nursing School then which will be VERY stressful. After January we just want to be worrying about paying and finishing final touches! Happy Planning!
Well... I've got the venue, caterer, DJ, photographer, ceremony trio musicians, cake and favors figured out, I'm getting my dress this month and FMIL is ordering the flowers, helping FI find the right officiant and is planning the RD; I've already got STDs printed and guest list assembled and am working on small details now like invitations, favor packaging, lighting, sparkler/matchbox design, etc!
Do any of you have blogs? I'd love to follow along with you all, too--my blog is http://howengaging.wordpress.com!
Wow ladies, way to make me feel like the slacker I am! haha. So far Ive booked the church, and booked the reception location.
Thats it for now, but I have a whole lot of ideas.
Here's my pathetically neglected wedding blog, http://radiantswedishfish.blogspot.com/
Don't feel bad, goosegg. All I know for sure is the date, the dress, and the reception site... oh, and who I want standing at the end of the aisle. ;)
We didn't get engaged until August so we're trying to condense the typical 12-18 mo. engagement to do lists into 9. So overwhelming!
Aw CheshireCat you'll get it all done! And espressogirl, I kind of know how you feel... we only had 11 months, but took a couple of weeks or so to pick a date! So from then on, it felt really rushed as we're in Charleston and everything books up so early!!
Any other updates, May 15th brides?!? I finally found my dress and ordered my STDs to be sent out at the beginning of next month...
Hello all May 15th brides!
I am also getting married on May 15 2010 in Toronto, Ontario.
Dont you all love our date.... Its the 5th month of the 15th day of the 10th year (all multiples of 5, can you tell im a teacher at heart?)
I just ordered my dress, picked up my bm dresses. We've been engaged for a while so we booked our reception and ceremony site(outside wedding) first. Florist is done too. Photographer chosen. I hired an invitation designer to do our stds and invites, so the stds should be digitally done soon then we just have to print!
I think I have to get a move on hiring the person to do cake. My FH is doing all the honeymoon stuff(thank god! im pooped from all the wedding stuff)
When is everyone getting your FH's tux and the groomsmen suits/tux? I know nothing about suits?? Do you have to order them far in advance??
Thoughts?
Looks like all of us 05/15/10 brides are ahead of the game!
I'm also a May 15th bride!!!! The date is too perfect for words! My engagement ring even has 15 diamonds :) I guess that is our new lucky number!
I have almost all the planning done and now just need to pay for it all eeekk!! I still need my veil, to make 50 more invites (our #s went up), unity candle, and programs. And probably a lot of last minutes things too!
Hi all. I was almost a May 15 bride. I'm May 22 now. My fiance's birthday is May 15 so that made our decision easier. We wanted him to have his own special day and to drag out the celebration a little bit more. I love seeing what everyone else has done so far-sometimes it makes me fell really good about our progress and sometimes I feel really behind.
Oh gosh I feel behind. you guys all have A LOT more done than I do. Here's where I'm at.
Gathered a lot of ideas on almost everything.
pretty much decided where the ceremony is going to be.
still deciding on a reception cite
Got the photographer
Got some work done on the gues list.
Decided most of the wedding stuff will be DIY from invitations(family will be helping with that) to the cake(a dear friend from college that was a pastry student will be helping with that)
Narrowed down honeymoon locations.
Got an officiant
Got the bugget mostly worked out
So basicly it is just stuff in my head lol. Life is a wee bit full for the both of us. I'm finishing an externship, graduating, moving, and trying to find a job with in the next month. He is well ingrossed in his final year of college. and we aren't even in the same town.
Can you tell we're both procrastinators lol
5.15.10 Yippee! We are getting married just over the South Dakota border from MN. We are also getting married outdoors (hoping we won't have to spend an arm and a leg on a tent, but who knows!). So far I have my dress, jewelry and shoes, all of the bridesmaid dresses and jewelry, the tuxes picked out and the guys registered at the tux shop, I have the venue, dj, photographer, minister, grooms supper location, block of hotel rooms booked, invitations being designed and hoping to have them printed just after Christmas... um I think maybe that's it? lol Oh wait, we have just about all our decor (I keep finding things!) and I have my bridesmaid gifts. We are not having a caterer, we have friends of the family that are serving Italian for our 125-150 guests. Yeah budget! :-) I have 2 boys and my fiance has no children so it will be a "family" wedding. We are incorporating the "Family Medallion" ceremony into our cermony to include my boys (4 and 7). Colors... what are everyone's colors? Ours are brown and green.
I'm one more bride to add to the date!
I got engaged in the beginning of May of this year and wanted to get married in April but also wanted to get married outside and those two things don't really go together! lol
Anyways I have pretty much everything under way. Everything has just kinda fallen into place which has made it seem a little scary. Makes me feel like I'm not doing something right!
We booked our venue ( which includes our DJ, catering, ceremony and reception ) Have a family friend that is a photographer and she is also doing my flowers ( she's really good at both). I found a dress online I was in love with which of course was on clearance ( made an appointment to go try it on that weekend and bought it after only trying on three dresses and that being the last one) and while waiting for my appointment I had my two bridesmaids with me and we were browsing and found their dresses kinda by accident! Best part of it is that their dresses have pockets! they are just exstatic about it!! Shoes are flipflops ( grooms not too much taller than myself and I am a total flipflop girl ). Decided to be different on the cake; we decided to do cheesecakes with raspberry hearts on the top of them.
Invitations are a DIY. Already did save the date magnets (couldn't have turned out anymore perfect). Sent those at 9 months till and then not sending formal invites until 8 weeks before. Already have our rehersal dinner location booked as well the night before.
I have lots of little odds and ends to do but ALL the major stuff it done and a major relief. My brother and my best friend both got engaged in September one day apart and I am watching what they are going through just trying to find places and the run arounds they are getting and I am glad that everything for me has been SOOOO easy.
As far as colors I am going with formal black and white. Red as an accent color and for the flowers ( red roses and black magic roses ). We are getting married at a private ranch that is TOTALLY green and lots of beautiful lighting and flowers around so black and white is very fitting for us!
What have everyone picked for their first dance song? I think we are going to do "History in the Making" by Darius Rucker but if not it is going to "Whatever it is" by Zac Brown Band!!!
Wow! Everybody has gotten so much done! Im a May 15th bride too and I have only booked our officiant and the caterer. We are having a small luau styled wedding at our home for 50 people in Southern California. I really need to get going on this don't I?
Me! Nothing's planned though, I have my dress at least. We're just going to Vegas, but I really have to crack down on what exactly we'll be doing once we get there. :)
Hey girls! Yeah for 5-15-2010!
I am getting married on the beach in Virginia Beach, Va. Our reception is at the Lesner Inn on the Chesapeake Bay.
We decided to be way laid back with our wedding. We rented several cottages along the oceanfront for bridesmaids, groomsmen and family. Our ceremony is right out front on the beach of our (BM) cottage. Growing up on the beach I always wanted to walk out my door and get married! it came true!
We have booked: ceremony location, reception venue, photgrapher, band, florist, transportation, invitations, hair stylist, cake, rehersal dinner food/cake, and DRESS. I got my dream Maggie dress!
Congrats to all you ladies! Cant wait to read more!
One more to the list
wow! all of you are pretty much set, I just got engaged two weeks ago, and we knew we wanted to get married sometime in the spring, and may 15th it was, but I didnt actually start planning until it was official.
this is what we have done:
have ceremony hall
booked the reception
got my dress :) and thats it!
I have ideas, but nothing set in stone, we had a photographer in mind, but she's not returning my calls :( so now I have to keep looking for more... have an interview with a dj, and ideas on favors. I know I'm really behind after reading all of your posts. HELP!!!
Hi ladies!
OMG...al of u are almost done! I'm getting solemnized on 15 May 2010 too and having my dinner the same nite and another reception the weekend after. So far, this is what I've got:
- Bridal hse (outfits & makeup);
- Photographer;
- Venue; and
- Bridesmaids and MOH's packages
Am going to settle our caterer, decorations & invites by this month/year. Wedding cake & wedding favours are KIV.
Qn: What are u all giving as favours?
xoxo,lala
This is my date! We have our photographer, venue, catering, dress, favor (idea), centerpiece idea, bridesmaids dresses, & most of the supplies. Need to do the tasting for dinner and cake, groom and groomsmen clothing, dj, and flowers! Fiance is in charge of DJ, I need to decide if I'm going to make or buy flowers. Excited!
I'm 5/15, too! Things are really starting to come together.
Dress is in,a nd my first fitting is 2/6 (of course the dress is about a size too big, but better safe than sorry!) We ordered the bridesmaids' dresses were ordered Saturday and should be here mid-March. Cake is done. We had our tasting. Photographer and engagement pics are done. DJ is all set, and our rehearsal dinner site has finally been decided upon. Next up tuxes, favors, and ceremony details...and I have to follow back up with the florist about some additional details.
I really thought time would stand still but it is all moving right along!
I have the ceremony site, reception site, hotel rooms, photgrapher, DOC, cake, dress ordered, bm dresses picked but not ordered yet, and should be deciding on a florist this week. The major vendors left will be the DJ and the Limos. Now its time for the details!
That's my date! 05.15.10! I feel like a slacker! I've booked my venues, photographer and caterer, but that's it! We just decided on our wedding party and finalized our colors. (Even though, I'm still debating the colors!) I'm a really laid back person, but now that it's actually 2010, I'm starting to get a bit nervous! Since I'm a plus size bride, I'm having problems finding a fabulously, gorgeous dress! This has stopped me dead in my planning tracks! I'm new to WeddingBee and hope that constant communications with fellow brides will give me more inspiration.
THAT'S MY DATE TOO! MY FIRST DRESS FITTING IS FEB 19TH. I HAVE MY CEREMONY SITE, OFFICIANT, RECEPTION VENUE. INVITES CAME IN THE PAST WEEK AND WILL GO OUT FIRST WEEK IN FEB. CAKE TOPPER HAS ARRIVED. PUT DEPOSIT DOWN ON HONEYMOON ON FRIDAY. PHOTOGRAPHER IS BOOKED.
NEXT UP:
WEDDING BANDS
FLOWERS
TRANSPORTATION
FAVORS
I'm May 14th! We're doing a Friday morning brunch (most people are coming from out of town, so work isn't a problem) We've gotten a lot done (venue, caterer, wedsite, invites, attendants, dress, cake, jewlery, registries, dj...) but the list seems to keep getting longer!
My FI is currently working on getting our photographer and we need to figure out men's attire. I need to locate shoes. We're writting our own ceremony and need to start working on that as well as ordering our flowers (we're doing silk- since we're doing 2 receptions we can use them at both!) and figuring out other decorations. We need to order rental things soon (sound equipment and tablecloths). I still don't know what I'm doing for centerpieces (though I'm thinking something with pinwheels!) We need to order wedding bands and we're still deciding if we want to do ( or even what to do) for our guest book and/or program (is that super necessary even?) And we still have meetings with our caterer to deal with...
Right now our focus is on wedding bands, photographer and getting invites out. We're sending early since we didn't do STDs and pretty much everyone is coming from out of town... And I'm trying to figure out a course of action for decor...
I'm so glad that everything is coming together! We just got engaged in Mid-December, so we were a little worried about getting everything done! We're keeping everything pretty simple and bare-bones... The FI and I don't have a lot of money to throw around and would much rather have money for an apartment and getting settled than a big extravagant wedding... We're doing pretty much everything for about $4,000 which is super exciting :) At this point, we have most of the essentials... everything else is just icing on the cake!
100 days ladies! (and 99 days for Cinnamon Stick!) - we are in the home stretch. Can't wait to be a Mrs
and on that honeymoon!!
Hey everyone! Ours is may 15 too and we are getting married in the chruch where we met. Then we are having our italian themed reception in a local restaruant over looking Lake Michigan. SO excited!
82 Days, 19 hrs, 54 mins & 46 secs to go !!

Hello All,
I am May 15, 2010 Bride. I want to know how far in the planning stages everyone is. Our wedding will take place in San Diego overlooking the bay. This is also a blended family ceremony as both my fiance and I have children.
I think I found the Maggie Sottero dress I want, but I'm afraid to comit since my wedding i s next year. However, everyone keeps telling me that I need to order now!
I'm new to this so I hope I can get some insight from some of you.
God Bless!
