I am a HUGE musical theatre fan! I grew up dancing, but I cannot sing so I dont get involved in any way!
But I love Rent (all time favourite musical), A Chorus Line, Chicago, Cabaret, West Side Story, oh man, I could go on!!
@CupcakeLove: LOL Maybe we could combine our talents? You go out and dance, and I'll sing from the sidelines!
I LOVE musicals! I've been in a fair few amateur productions, too. My favorites are Phantom of the Opera, Man of la Mancha, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Spamalot, Wicked, and Les Miserables. <3
I love musicals too! I always try to see one when I'm in NYC. My faves are Wicked, Rent, Les Miserables, and Chicago. and Avenue Q. I am super excited because I have tix to see Legally Blond in August -- Omigod!
I love musicals too. I was in a few productions in high school, which actually was not what got me into them. I only saw RENT because an actor I liked was in it; he wasn't even a main role, just a cameo in the life support group.
My favorites are RENT, Wicked, See What I Wanna See, Avenue Q, The Last 5 Years, and Tick, Tick...BOOM!
When my sister and I go on road trips, we sing show tunes the whole way! We'll take turns singing the boy parts and girl parts.
Currently on my iPod: Rent, Mama Mia, Moulin Rouge (even though it wasn't stage), Tommy, Miss Siagon
Also love: Wicked, Avenue Q, Altar Boys, Les Mis, Phantom, Lion King...
Haha. I'll have a degree in theatre in about, oh, 5 months. I LOVE it. My favs are City of Angels, Wicked, RENT, Legally Blonde, Phantom (All time favorite, ever), Chicago. Man, I could go on.
@slam: Oh. My. God. Ohmigod you guys. Love it! lol
I adoooorrreeeee musicals. Adore. Favorites? Rent, Tick Tick Boom, and Spring Awakening. Next, Legally Blonde.
Oh man, I can't live without my musicals! Favs are Wicked (listend to the soundtrack today as I cleaned!), Sweeney Todd, Avenue Q, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast...I could go on and on!
I have a degree is Musical Theatre and teach dance. I am so lucky that I can play musicals on a daily basis and get paid for it.
My favorites would be Rent (great fun to sing) Urinetown (great idea and laugh), 42nd Street (love those tappin' feet), Lion King (amazing visual experience), Throughly Modern Millie (love).
There are a lot of musicals I love, and too many to type. Every show is worth seeing, if I could just get my wallet to agree. =)
I LOVE me some musicals! My favorites are Rent, Wicked, Dreamgirls, Grease, Jersey Boys, Spamalot, Phantom... too many to name, really!
I love musicals!! growing up in ny, my parents took me all the time and I LOVE it! I even spent 4 years at performing arts camp (french woods, anyone??) because I love it so much. I would say my favorites are Avenue Q and the Full Monty, but I could name so many more!
LOVE musicals. I want to go to New York this winter for my birthday and see some shows! Also, Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal are giving a concert in NYC ON MY BIRTHDAY (it's my 50th).
Got to be in chorus of Fiddler on the Roof, it was heaven. I'm seriously underemployed right now, so hopefully I will land THE JOB so I can take this trip, and see my daughter who moved to Toronto last year (I'm in Oregon).
LOOOOOOOVE Musicals!
Les Mis, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Phantom, and Thoroughly Modern Milly are my top faves.
I am also a musical theater addict! I don't know if I can even choose my faves...I have too many. Some that come to my mind at this moment are Wicked, Jersey Boys, Legally Blonde, Avenue Q, Lion King, Phantom, Rent, ... so many more. I buy soundtracks like crazy and even though I have not been able to see many of the shows, I do ok for someone up in Western Canada! I have actually seen quite a few...on my most recent trip to New York a few years ago, my friend and I saw seven shows when we were there! Haha...expensive trip, yes, but SO worth it!
I'm seeing In The Heights on Tuesday. Has anyone seen it? I think the cast performed on So You Think You Can Dance a few weeks ago. Yay!
@sarahsd: I saw In The Heights last summer in New York! I absolutely loved it. You'll be wanting to dance to the music that's stuck in your head for a long time afterward :D
@Amaryllis: OMG - I am also a huge Terrence Mann fan! I thought I was the only one obsessed with this wonderful performer. I saw him in Scarlet Pimpernell years ago and met him after the show - it was amazing! My best friend was in the running for the role of Wednesday's boyfriend in the Adams Family musical, and I was so hoping he would get it so he could work with Terrence!
I'm another bee with a degree in theatre. I haven't really been using it, but I love musicals just the same.
My favorites: Assassins, Ragtime, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Les Mis, Rent, A Little Night Music, The Wedding Singer, Urinetown and Ave. Q.
I sang for Terrence Mann!!! He was lovely and charming
I'm getting my degree in voice and am a total broadway baby! I love all the old school musicals, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Bock and Harnick, Lerner and Loewe!
I just finished a production of RENT (costumes), am currently in The Sound of Music, and will be doing 1776 in the spring!
Les Mis is my all time favorite, ever since I played Viola (hence the screenname!) in the pit during the summer stock version of it 8 years ago. Sadly, I no longer play often, but once I finish my Master's, I'll be back with a vengeance! Favorites include Les Mis, Guys and Dolls, Spring Awakening, Wicked, Lion King, Phantom of the Opera. Movie musical wise, I could go on for days.... love love love Gene Kelly - An American in Paris is my all time fave! Brigadoon, Singing in the Rain, On the Town, Summerstock (with Judy Garland!). Other non-Gene Kelly films - Hello Dolly! (although he did direct it!), Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, Mary Poppins, State Fair, Music Man, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers....
Musical theater geek here! I did show choir and drama all through high school, and even though I couldn't that well at the time, I played a lot of character roles like Ado Annie in Oklahoma and Rizzo in Grease. My dad always said that I was so determined that I wanted to sing well that I finally worked on it enough that I'm pretty good now.
I thank the tv gods for Glee... a weekly fix of my musical theater addiction.

Any fans of musical theatre? I completely love 80s mega-musicals hehe. My sister did theatre for a while, but I could never get into it -- I have 3 left feet. I haven't been to see a show in a while since Spamalot in 2007 or so? Anyway, just wondering if anyone out there shares the love?
My favorites are Les Miserables, Beauty and the Beast, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Jekyll & Hyde, Rent, Wicked, and songs from sooo many others. (I wasn't kidding about the 80s thing...) Also, shhhhh! Don't tell FI, but I am not so secretly in love with Terrence Mann and really want to see The Addams Family musical, which I only recently discovered even exists.
