We are having a tough time choosing a venue. Our top two options are The Royal Sonesta and The Chicory. Two totally different spaces. If we went with the Royal Sonesta we have the whole hotel to work with and I think that would be nice. We would also have our wedding reception in the ballroom with the courtyard off of it. I have looked through some photographer websites and every cake that’s done by the Royal Sonesta is pretty sad looking. Unfortunately, I don’t think you can bring your own cake vendor in. A part of me likes the idea of being in the quarter since my fiance’s family is all from New York I think it would be fun, but another part of me is like Bourbon Street (YUCK) lol Thought I do like the energy of the quarter.
I like the Chicory but I don’t think the “rustic” look was what I was going for but I feel like I could definitely glam it up. The food seems to be a lot better at the Chicory and there is a beautiful bridal suite. The place is huge though and we are only inviting 150 people so I’m afraid it may look bare. I like the idea of it being a little away from the quarter but still close enough to walk if we want to have an after party down there somewhere.
I’d love to know anyone’s feedback on either or if you’ve ever been to a wedding or had your wedding there it would be most helpful! Thank you so much Bee’s!
