Hi date twin! We don't have any NY traditions that will be included in the wedding. I like your idea about the fortune cookie.
I just had to laugh at this b/c if we were to incorporate our NYE traditions into our reception it would be us eating too much good food, drinking WAY too much good wine and dancing to music that we play for each other off iTunes. I guess that kinda sounds like our reception, except we wear our pj's. :)
We aren't doing any "traditions" per se, but we are incorporating some New Year's elements: my guest will sign their name in a calendar on their birthdays, and beside it there will be a sign saying :Fill our year with joy & celebration - find your birthday & sign your name!" And for favors, we are also doing pocket calendars that will have favor tag tied around them with the phrase "Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each new year find you a better person." ~Benjamin Franklin
We wrote the ceremony ourselves, and it says a bit about the New Year, new beginnings, etc, and our vows our resolutions (we will be saying, 'I resolve to always be your friend, to love you faithfully, etc etc) :)

Hey January brides,
are any of you incorporating any New Year traditions into your reception? We had thought about some, but have not solidified any. Our favors are going to be personalized fortune cookies. Some with our name and wedding date and some with the phrase: It is our good fortune to have you as our guest!
FI mentioned black eyed peas, not sure how to do that beautifully
