Sooo, thought I would give this a go. I havent seen many NZ bees on here, probably not the best time for a chat but whatever! Where is everyone from?!
There's a few of us lurking around - me, Kemma, nzgirl for a start :) Where in the land of the long white cloud are you?
I was actually surprised at how many kiwi bees I've seen on here. I'm from North Otago.
Scribbles looks like your wedding is just around the corner, hope this nice weather sticks around for you.
@PrincessConsuelaBananaHammock: Thanks, we hope so too! The good thing however is that we have planned for a "kiwi winter" wedding so the fine weather will just be a bonus.
I'm a kiwi! I've lived in Hamilton my whole life :)
Another Bee from NZ here!
Me too! From Auckland, wedding just out of Palmerston North but living overseas at the moment
Yay seems like there are quite a few kiwi bees! I am in Lower Hutt. :)
omg i started this thread and then bailed! How embarrassing. I live in Auckland atm. Cool that everyone is from all around NZ.
@Miss Circe: Your wedding is so far away, have you started planning yet?
yup, Im from NZ also!!!!!
forgot to say living in Coromandel
@sweetmamam: Whoop - my name got mentioned!
I'm in the Manawatu, got married in Feb 2011, expecting our first bubba in October this year :-)
So nice to see some other NZ ladies here :-)
Me! I'm in Palmerston North, but originally from the UK! :)
Ooh forgot to say where I'm from, Hawke's Bay :) Lived in Auckland for the last three years but have just recently moved back home!
Am I the only South Island Bee?
I live in Auckland, but our wedding is in Queenstown (and on the same date as you hayleycook!) :D
Me! Born and bred in Auckland, still here!
@PinkLimeNZ: Yay! Same date! Where are you getting married?
@Sarahbear: Awesome!! First day of summer...heres hoping the weather plays ball! At Gracehill, how about you?
@PinkLimeNZ: Kumeu Valley Estate! Just around the corner! Its literally like 15 minutes away. lol. I shal keep an eye out for you :-P
@Sarahbear: Haha how cool! Sure you won't be able to miss us if you do, we are having ferraris lol!
I'll probably hear you then haha. Did you go to the wedding show the other day? Or are you pretty much sorted? I think I entered every single competition i could.
I went to the wedding show, raced around. Still havent looked thorugh the magazines etc I got.
I'm an Auckland Bee
@Sarahbear: Lol no haven't started planning yet, I've just been researching but I figured since I'll be busy with my Masters and/or Phd in 2014/2015, I might as well get a headstart. I'm not engaged yet, I'm a waiting bee. My boyfriend and I are saving up for my ring and his watch at the moment and he's got his heart set on proposing during our trip to Las Vegas next year (he said he wants to make it as special and memorable as possible) - his friends won that KFC Vegas trip and they're taking us with them.
@Sarahbear: and @traveller: Are you guys talking about the Bride and Groom show? I went to that too - lol but as a bridesmaid for my one of my best friends who is getting married in April next year. There was soo many people and so many vendors. Some of the gowns they had there were to die for - especially the John Zimmerman ones.
@Miss Circe: omg getting a free trip to vegas!???!!! lucky you!! Vegas is soo awesome. Have you been there before?
yes, the bride & groom show at ellerslie, it was busy. lots of lovely gowns, jewellary etc but as I'm having a DW not all stuff is applicable.
@Miss Circe: Do you have a ring style in mind? I know a real good place...lol. But seriously, i do, I have good tips The B&G show was good this year but probably because I can actually use the discounts that were on offer now that my wedding is but a few months away!
@traveller: I know right?! I started jumping up and down like a maniac when they asked us to come along. I've never been.. have you? I don't want to threadjack but if you'd like to PM with any recommendations of where to go, I'd really appreciate it Where are you planning on going for your DW?
@Sarahbear: Ooh if you know of any good places, please let me know I'm really considering getting a custom ring and have started e-mailing some jewellers locally and overseas and getting quotes and such. I have a ring style in mind - this ring from Sutcliffe caught my eye but I want emeralds and moissanites instead of diamonds. Yeah your wedding is coming up soon - how exciting! Whereabouts are you planning on getting married and having your reception if you don;t mind my asking.
@PrincessConsuelaBananaHammock: I'm in the South Island :-) PM me if you want to know where (I currently don't want to say more specifically on a public forum).
I'm a waiting bee :-).
Me! Sounds like there are actually quite a few of us in and around the Manawatu :)
@Miss Circe: You could PM your ring ideas? I'll get you a quote. Im getting married at Kumeu Valley Estate. Its the only venue we looked at and I loved it. I didnt think it was worth getting all cofused over venues you know? Not like i am with my dress
I thought I'd jump on this thread to say hello. My fiance and I live in Melbourne, Australia but he only moved to Aussie three years ago from Whangarei and also lived in Hamilton. I'm orginally from the United States and wishing we could have a NZ wedding but we'll having it in my hometown back home. I'm so excited to hear that there are so many NZ brides on here- I'll look for some advice on where to travel when we come over this September. But I'm sure my fiance already has so much in store for us as New Zealand is his home country. Best Wishes to all of you NZ bee's
@Sarahbear: Oh Kumeu Valley Estate! That's in my "to check out" venue list It looks gorgeous from the pics and my boyfriend is from that area. Heehee well the dress is very important - and it doesn't help that we're somewhat limited in choices in NZ. What sort of style are you leaning towards?
@Miss Circe: Yea its so pretty without being fussy (KVE that is) their website is shit though. They are having an open day on the 27th of May, you should go! They set it all up in different styles, let you sample canpes and stuff. It starts from 10am.
Yeah, the dress...I dunno. The one i really want isnt available in NZ and is $4000 anyway. Heres a post i dd tht shows the dresses.
@kcweddinggirl: hi! ask whatever quesitons you want about travelling in NZ, im sure between us we will all have some good advice.
@Miss Circe: we are having it in Phuket, very excited! Its still almost a year away as we had to postpone it for a while. I have been to vegas in 2008, was soooo awesome, we drove from LA, we were only there from friday till monday - so much to do and see! There are shopping malls, one is south of vegas but worth going, will have to google it to find what its called again. Also there is a free aquarium somewhere thats meant to be good but we didnt know until we were leaving and didnt have neough time. Visit all the main hotels, Paris is great, so is Bellagio and definietly go to old vegas downtown to see all the famous sights you see in the movies :-).
@Sarahbear: I saw your posts about the dress you love in the USA, did you know there are some companies you can find online in the USA that you can pay for them to receve your parcel and they will charge you to onsend it internationally, so you can buy from websites that don't send out of the USA. I will try to find out their names. Also I love the christina rossi dress 6010, its pretty cool, have you seen it? http://www.astrabridal.co.nz/christina-rossi-cr6010.html
@Sarahbear: I wish I could but since I'm not actually engaged, I'd feel a bit weird visiting venues. Plus I am buried in uni work at the moment - three essays and a exam in the next month... yeah it sucks lol
Oooh both those gowns are really beautiful. Have you made a decision on which one you would get? Your last post said that you were leaning towards the Christina. It sucks that you couldn't actually try on the first dress in person though.
@traveller: Oh wow I've never been to Phuket before but I've heard great things from my friends who have been there And thank you, I'm copying and pasting your post into my "places to visit/things to do in Vegas'. I definitely want to check out all the hotels, especially the Venetian - I saw that you go on a gondola ride hehe.
@kcweddinggirl: Let us know if you need any advice/tips for where to go and what to do Where in NZ will you be going to?
@Miss Circe: yes, we never even went to the venetian, we forgot lol but heard its great. If I think of anywhere else I'll let you know. Also you probably already know, in Vegas you can walk on the street with alcohol, so you can grab a cocktail or a beer and walk around at night, there are a few night stalls.
Glamilton Bee in waiting here :)
@MissBettsy: Hi, :-)
I'm a NZ bee! Nice to see so many other Kiwis here :) I've been engaged since last September but just gaining wedding planning momentum now - 8 months to go! Yay!
