I've seen some pretty awesome ones made out of krispy kreme donuts! Basically just a giant krispy kreme tower!!
I know I wouldn't kick that out of bed for eating crackers. Mm
Hey!
Thanks for the suggestion. hehe.. I do not know to mant who would kick that out of bed for anything! hehe
Ill have a look for some pictures. I think we might be looking for something different than that though... hmmmm...
Ideas or pictures ladies?
Cheesecake, cheese cake, and pie are pretty popular alternatives to regular old cake.
I also knew of a couple who didn't cut the cake, but scooped the ice cream instead--they even had an engraved ice cream scoop!
We're definitely gonna do the rice krispy treat cake because it has special meaning to us. FSIL did a cookie bar at her wedding where her mother and his mother each made over 700 cookies (of all different types) and they did empty boxes so the cookies could be used as favors as well.. Then to simulate the cake feel they had a cupcake tower with amazing cupcakes that had filling inside them... Everyone loved it!
I love the Rice Krispie Cake. I've also seen a huge reeses PB cup cake! I think cakes like that are so much fun! We are doing a cake buffet instead.
Ladies!
Thanks for all of the amazing ideas....there seem to be a lot of options :)
Do you all have any inspiration pics of how these are going to look? :)
Croquembouche (the cream puffs can also be smothered in chocolate yum)!

Macaroon Towers are gaining popularity too :)

Oh my goodness.. those two are so much fun - where are you finding the pictures? I have googled every combination of words I can think of to find some pictures! hehe
Any more ideas ladies?
I'm so happy to see another non-cake wedding!
We're doing a chocolate chip cookie cake. I don't like cake but I love cookies. I haven't seen it yet, but I have an idea in my mind; there will be a large round cookie "cake" (like at Mrs. Fields) at the bottom and then there will be two tiers, with smaller cookie cakes at each level, above it. So it would look like your traditional tiered wedding cake, but with giant cookies instead.
I've also seen weddings where it was all pies, or cupcakes, of course. Just imagine your favorite dessert, and then try to make it in "wedding cake" form!
I went to a wedding with frosted brownie squares...that was great! I'm doing a cupcake tower.
runskiclimb - That is such a fun cake as well. Are you making this yourself?
I found a whole ton of pictures last night that were cookies! I will post it if I see one with multiple tiers.
I am hoping for a few more suggestions to get the brain flowing... this could prove to be quite interesting!
proud peacock - frosted brownie squares sound amazing! I think i need to just start visualizing how all of these things can be in cake format... since I would like to have something that somewhat resembles the shape of a cake and that we can cut! hehe
We did 2 cakes and 9 pies....and guess which flew off the table? Yup, pie, licked down to the pie plate.
There's a whole pie thread over on IndieBride: (if the link doesn't work, it's about half way down the 'Bouquet Toss...and other Antiquated Traditions' list of topics)

Hello all!
My fiance and I are in the process of choosing a wedding cake - this has proved to be difficult just by the virtue of us not really caring for cake! We both do not like cake wa whole lot and we are having a yummy dessert at the suppers. However I would like to have something as a pseudo wedding cake. We have considered cupcakes. Then I seen this pic below from a blog post on here (sadly I do not remember who made the post - sorry :( ) and I just knew that you ladies (as resourceful as you are!) would have some suggestions for a 'non cake wedding cake'.
Any takers?!?! :)
