I am hoping to get some info from any Nurse Practitioner/CNS Bees that may be on WB. I am a Registered Nurse, and I work on a psychiatric unit. I started off as a nursing assistant at 18 and got my license when I was 21, so I have literally been doing this half of my life now. I have been considering going back to school for my advanced practice license in psychiatric nursing. Here are my questions:
1) Are you making enough money to justify the cost of graduate school? What are your wages like?
2) How many hours a week do you work on average? How often are you on call?
3) With changes happening to health care in the country, do you see reimbursement for midlevel providers increasing/decreasing/staying the same?
Please feel free to PM me if you would prefer. I understand that this is not a field you can excel in if you’re only in it for the money, but I do not want to take on any further student loans if I’m not going to be able to significantly increase my earning potential.
Thank you so much in advance!
