I've added in one session with a trainer a week--I am, shall we say, not always motivated to work out, so it helps me get in the habit of going to the gym. I actually made it in four times this week and I'm pretty proud of myself! My dress fits right now as is but I wouldn't mind shaping up a few spots (arms and belly!) ahead of the wedding.
@Frog E.: I'm sure having a trainer helps keep you focused a lot! I meant to start working out beginning of January, but it was just SO hard to get started again. I begrudgingly started recently, but it'll take a lot of will power to keep it up, that's for sure!
Weight wise, I'm probably okay (though I certainly wouldn't object to losing a couple more lbs), but like you, I really just want to tone up my body!
Ugh I'm getting SO BAD at trying to shape up for the wedding. Two weeks ago I was exercising every day, eating sensibly, feeling good, and then starting last week I got really lazy. I tried on my dress again yesterday and I think I look like I've gained a few pounds since the last time I had it on. Oops.
I should take this warm weather as a blessing and go for a run in the park.
Ha I just posted about Insanity in another thread. I did it two summers ago and it was awesome, but I didn't do it religiously. I started last week again but I alternate a Jilian workout in or a run on the treadmill when I am feeling sore or lazy. I also do a spinning class once a week. I like insanity because it is the only workout tape I have seen where the participants on the video have to take breaks!
@medsie35: It kind of scares me that even the people on the videos (that already have, like, perfect bodies) need breaks! Hahaha, if THEY can't keep up, how am I going to keep up??
But Shaun T looks like he's really nice in real life, even though his workouts are super intimidating. I did 6 days worth so far (not all in a row cause I was too sore in the beginning), but now my body has adjusted to the point where I feel a little soreness, but not so much I can't move.
I hope I can keep this up until the wedding...
(the downside is I'm starting to get HUNGRY all the time, and I have to try really hard not to eat anything in sight. D:)
@reginaphalange: Hehe, I have a hard time running in anything below 60 degrees (that's when my asthma likes to start trouble). I'll probably pick up running again when it warms up again...which unfortunately probably won't be until after March!
Gosh, I sure am. I hope I can lose about 10lbs before the wedding lol. Im gonna keep trying at least!
I'm not til April but I am really feeling the crunch to get my ass into gear.
About two months ago I actually started the routine from the book Miss Mole posted.
I'm running a half marathon two weeks before the wedding... which means 3 weeks from right now... oh no.
@brenda.m.fields: Damn! go girl! The most I have ever done is a 10k and I went home and slept for the rest of the day...LOL...Im pretty much a professional athlete :D
@brenda.m.fields: Good luck!! I'm sure you'll be fine!!
@petitfour: @MrsElopement: LOL, you can do it if you put your mind to it! I used to get asthma after running half a block (not even exaggerating!). Last year, I managed to get up to 8.5 miles nonstop, and did a half marathon in 2 hours and 38 minutes. (and I went home, ate a ton of carbs, ice cream and brownies, and vegged on the couch the rest of the day xD)
Of course, now that I've stopped for 2 months (I can't run in the cold cause of my asthma), I'm probably back to the point where I can't run a mile anymore, either! LOL Once it warms up again, I'm hoping to get back into my running, and breaking the doubt digit mile marker!
Oh yeah. 60 minutes on the treadmill and 30+ minutes of strength training daily. I've lost 15 pounds in the last 3 months. Stay strong girls!
I totally am. My FI and I just joined a gym last week. Better late than never!
My wedding is March 2nd and I have been steady with a personal trainer since November... and now that we are getting closer we have gone from 1 session a week to 2.
I also work out 4 times a week with Wednesday off as a break (and weekends too)...
All in all I have lost about 13 lbs but its more in the inches lost as well... my arms, legs and waist are all smaller.
Definitely recommend a personal trainer if you have the $ or time... WELL worth it!
Success! I actually ran around the park yesterday and it felt so good. I also did a lot of dancing last night at karaoke, so I think I got an extra workout in. And today, I'm going to do the 30 day shred.
And then eat my leftover pizza after, of course.
@twistxofxfate: I'd love to have a trainer but I refuse to spend $40/half hour on one. I have taught myself a lot.
I'm trying to get back into running and doing my zumba dvds for an hour a day..if I stick to it like before I usually see results quick,my dress is corset so I can manage to loose a few inches without worrying to much about alterations:)
Oh always! I'm really hoping to tone up these arms a little. I've lost some weight, but these arms are just too flabby.
Today was the first day in a while that I haven't loathed the elliptical. I will choose to believe that's progress. :)
Phew, did another round of Insanity today. As usual, I feel like dying, but I'm always proud when I manage to not talk myself out of exercising. ;)
@Squishie: Yay, thats awesome! I joined the biggest loser at work and I am determined to beat all of my co-workers :D
I'd done 2 or 3 great weeks at the gym, and then got knocked out last week by a sinus infection. Lame! I get the 'I can only sleep, eat, and drag through school for a week' kind, so I'm worthless. I'd keel over if I tried to do cardio...it's an effort to breathe while I sleep.
I think after tonight though I'll be able to get back in the saddle. I'm waking up ok-ish now, and tomorrow is our first dance lesson. I'm really just looking to tone my arms/upper body, though, I'm pretty ok with my current weight/shape. You marathoning/Insanity/personal trainer gals are impressive!
@littlelucygoose: Totally understand, mine is $30/half hour but my FI said it is worth it and I have seen the results because I Have very low motivation so to have someone spend the time to push me... its amazing!
I even ran for 2km's today which is double what I normally do so I was so proud! Feeling great with 30 days to go!
@Squishie: stick with Insanity. You will see results by week 3. I promise. I started it and went up to week 5 but then the holidys rolled around and i fell off the wagon eating everything in sight. I started again and am on week 2 now ans will finish the day before my wedding. Hang in there. It's worth it.

I started the Insanityi work out last week (I was doing p90x once it got too cold to run...well, until the holidays came along and I took a month and a half break)! After the fit test and the first workout, I was so sore I could hardly bend my knees or get off the couch (and I was sore for like 4 days!).
I've picked it up again, and it still kicks my butt, but at least I can get off the couch by myself now! xD
Anyone else working out hoping to get into better shape in the next month or two? Anyone try out Insanity? What other workouts are you doing?
