I love opera and I have my heart set on an opera singer to sing Por Ti Volare by Andrea Bocelli, and/or Nessum dorma like Pavarotti, problem is I live in Manhattan and cant seem to find a single tenor here surrounded by artists where are they? I tried craigslist, I tried the opera group sites, Lincoln center wont let me post on their board it has ot be "Approved"(probably so people like me dont detract from their students education)
Anyone know anyone; I’m willing to pay for 1 or 2 songs but not the full rate or the full hour, I dont need that many songs and I dont want to go over my budget just for this
but it would add a special touch

I’m sorry to tell you this, but you’re probably not going to get a professional tenor. Most high-level performing artists don’t hire themselves out for weddings, and even if they are, their fees would be prohibitive. Students are much more likely to perform at weddings for a more reasonable rate, but you’re better off to try some of the smaller schools rather than Julliard. Also, check with some of the churches with great choirs, which is probably our best bet — you might be able to find someone with professional training who didn’t become a full-time performer.

I actually know a guy who is a semi-professional opera singer. He works a day job and does opera on the side, he and his wife both do. My FI subletted from them one summer. They go out of the country occasionally to perform though. PM me and I can probably find his website. Although I have no idea what he would charge for something like that.

Why don’t you call a university and ask for a singer who would be interested in a gig?
