I can't be the only one who wore her glasses on the wedding day, right? I briefly considered getting contacts, but remembered how much it sucked when I had them the last time (I have issues with putting things in my eyes) so I decided to just wear glasses. I had a little anxiety over it at first, because I always thought that updo + glasses = schoolmarm, but that is SO not true! I love seeing brides in glasses (OBB did a post about it a while back).

Even if you don't wear glasses, imagine if you did--would you consider wearing them for your wedding? Why or why not?

And as usual, pics are welcomed. :D

    Whoa, I'm on a poll roll today...rofl.

I didn't wear glasses because I don't wear them much but here are some links from the Bee that have some photo inspiration for you!

I plan to wear glasses on my wedding day. I wouldn't feel like myself without them.

@iheartnerds: That was my thing, too. I'd feel weird without them, like I was half-dressed or something. DH has a thing for glasses, too, though he doesn't need them (lucky!).

Thanks! Feeling better about glasses now? ;) I've worn glasses for so long that they're basically part of my face...that, and my eyesight is really for shit so going without them would have been a fantastically bad idea.

@Mrs Grape: haha just a little! I used to always wish for glasses when I was a kid (got what i wished for, huh?) I think I just need to get them properly fitted and I would feel better about them.. they feel so ill-fitted on my face!!

@heatherkristin: It's all about finding the right shape for your face (and, of course, having them fit properly as well, because it's way awkward when they don't). I was skeptical about angular frames until I tried them--in general, I think angular is best for a rounder face and round frames work for narrow faces.

@Mrs Grape: hmm.. thanks for the info! You have inspired me to give glasses another try.. maybe I could find frames that would make me feel comfortable enough w/them! thanks girl!

I was determined to wear contacts by the wedding day until I thought about it more.  I've never worn contacts and I've had my glasses for about 15 years.  I also realized I won't look any less beautiful with my glasses on and as you said, it just fits me better.  I've never worn contacts so I would look nothing like myself if I did on one day just because I felt pressured.  My FI even told me he plans to wear his now too (he doesn't technically have to, he just gets a headache if he doesn't for long enough).

@heatherkristin: No problem! Glad I could help. :)

@mandb122: The pressure thing is what almost did me in, until I realized, like you, that I just wouldn't look right without them. Plus, you don't have to worry about losing a contact from crying if you just wear the glasses, right?

@Mrs Grape: I have horrible vision but I usually just wear my contacts. No way in heck would I have worn my glasses...I just don't like the way they look on me. Certain people can pull them off and just wouldn't be the same w/out them, like you :)

You look amazing in those photos!  I absolutely hate wearing my glasses and rarely wear them out of the house.  So like any other day, I plan on wearing contacts during the wedding day too!

Thanks, all. :) Sometimes I wonder if I'm being a wuss about the finger-to-eye thing, but I also have allergies which makes contacts a little impractical as well (since I rub at my eyes about a million times a day sometimes--baaaad habit, I know).

I was kicking myself at the ceremony because I forgot them on the counter!  lol It was such a hectic start to the day that those just kinda slipped through the cracks.  However I DID remember and wear my glasses for the reception:

For some reason, when I wear my glasses, it is very easy for me to look boyish, and that's not really aligned with my personal style and how I enjoy presenting myself.  I don't wear my glasses out very often, but when I do, it is out of desperation, ie, it's one of those 'my eyes hate me and my contacts refuse to stay in without hurting me or just falling right out' days. I am going to do everything in my power to prevent my wedding day from being one of those days, because I really don't want to wear glasses to my wedding.  I have TERRIBLE vision--like, I can't see five inches in front of me without lenses or glasses (I'm nearsighted), but I would honestly go blind for the day if my choices were blindness or glasses.

Some people pull them off, and they look really cute in them and like how they look with them on.  I am not one of those people.  Mrs Grape, you were adorable and I am jealous that you wear them so well.

I would wear contacts only because having makeup done on me and without being able to see, and then glasses is wierd to me:P plus I think I look funny in them

    @dodgercpkl: I love those pictures--you look beautiful!

@veganglam: Years of practice, I think. I've only recently become comfortable with wearing them, to be honest; a lot of that confidence came from finding a frame that worked with my face shape instead of against it.

@Bellanouva: When I had a makeup trial, the girl doing my makeup would periodically stop and let me slip them on to see how it looked. I think it's easier to do your own makeup with glasses vs. having someone else do it, if only because you can get right up to the mirror and see what you're doing.

I wear glasses on a daily basis but I got contacts specifically for my wedding. I hate being known as a person with glasses and feel like they obstruct my face. I really just dont like the way I look with them even though I like the style of my glasses. Anyways, I wore contacts on my wedding day and felt so much more like myself! Whenever I go out I always wear contacts now. I still wear glasses daily but that's only because my eyes are too sensitive in the morning to put contacts in!

I have two pairs of really cute glasses that I wear about 3 days a week (I wear contacts the rest of the time) and I am NOT wearing glasses for the ceremony. I have a feeling the glasses (should I go for the black ones? Or the red and silver ones?) may make an appearance at the reception though, because I can only wear contacts for 8-9 hours a day without them killing my eyes. We will see.

@blondeeebuckeye: If you have red and/or silver anywhere else in your outfit, I think that pair would be fabulous. :)

@Mrs Grape: ugh..i DON'T! i'm wearing all pearl jewelry and my dress is ivory. i wear the black frames a LOT more than the silver ones (black looks good with my blonde hair), but the silver ones are fancier...who knows! i just really really doubt my contacts can stay in for 12 hours.

@blondeeebuckeye: If your prescription's not hella strong (and therefore expensive to fill), maybe you could find another frame that would go with your ensemble...although I don't think your glasses necessarily have to match. :)

My sight is *much* better with my glasses vs contacts, so I think I'll be wearing the glasses.  I buy glasses from this place called Zenni Optical, and they ROCK.  Frames with RX lenses are really cheap (like, starting at $8), and you can get *SO MANY* styles there!  I've ordered like 6 different pairs (including a Harry Potter pair), and I LURVE them!!
