no, I didnt'...but its very funny/creative how you tell people you met through Tom. LOL
I met my FI on MySpace! I don't think it's awkward at all when people ask how we met! Meeting people online seems to be a pretty common thing these days!
We met on MySpace.
I was looking at an old friend's page as we were just getting back in touch, and sometime after graduation, this old friend met my fiance and they became good friend. My fiance was in his Top Friends and I saw his profile was private, so I sent him a message telling him he was cute. :)
Sometimes it is a little weird telling people how we met, but I think most people our age don't see a problem with it. :)
It's not that either of us have a problem with it....it's just awkward when we are talking to older people who don't know what Myspace is....we get some confused looks sometimes.
WE MET ON MYSPACE TO!!
We don't care bout telling people either.
bluebutterfly: Oh no, I know what you mean.. :) It makes me feel a little silly sometimes when I tell people we met on MySpace. We usually just say we met through a mutual friend. I think sometimes, when talking with older people, there's still this sense of skepticism about meeting someone online, so I always worry that someone might downplay the importance of our relationship by chalking it up to the fact that we met through MySpace, but most people seem to consider it the norm now. :)
BAHAHAH WE DID TOO! And I try not to tell ANYONE because I'm embarassed... not really bc of the myspace but because I feel like a creeper since I messaged him!
@kjpugs hahaha I love the term creeper....guess my FI was the creeper in our case since he found me....it's strange how when you aren't looking for something it finds you. I know it's not too strange to have met him on Myspace..I just cracked up soo much when they referred to Myspace as the new booty call on "He's Just Not that Into You"
LOL! Yea neither of us were on it to meet people... but I had moved to a new place and was bored so I was browsing ppl from my new city! And saw he was into Chuck Norris so I just messaged him a Chuck Norris joke. It took off from there! His mom says we should say we met in a Chuck Norris Fan Group!
hahaha he friended me cuz he thought I was cute....then he left me a comment about a cat I had named David Hasselhoff...it pretty much let to more comments and convo..(Don't ask me why how I came to owning a cat named David Hasselhoff, I am not sure I even know the answer to that story)
My FH and I met on myspace...I wasn't looking for anything serious at the time and he messaged me saying that he thought I was cute and he was interested. So I messaged him back and we talked on AIM for hours and hours. Finally we decided to meet up at a coffee house in public ( I was scared!) It's funny because he is a police officer so we met while he was on duty! (HOT!) He actually asked me for my license so he could verify that I was older than 18. Weirdo! We eventually met up when he was off duty and have been together since!
I find it very awkward telling people we met on myspace because the first questions that always arise are "Where did you meet him?" "Were you alone?" "Wern't you scared that he was going to be someone that he wasn't?" Yeah yeah yeah whatever! I just tell people "Hey, if it wasn't for the internet I wouldn't have found my soul mate" and that shuts them up hahahaha :)
We didn't "meet" on Myspace but it played a huge role in getting us together. I knew him for years and years, but I never had his email address. I wanted to write to him when he was in Iraq and I turned to Myspace. We went back and forth for 9 months on Myspace before we exchanged email addresses. I haven't been back on that site since he got back nearly two years ago, but we have a special place in our hearts for it.
We met on myspace!! I had just moved to town and he added me as a friend and then didn't talk to me for a month. When he finally got up the nerve to message me we talked online for a few weeks then I gave him my number. We eventually met up and went out for coffee. So we tell our older relatives who don't quite understand the online thing that we met at a coffee shop.
We didn't exactly "meet" on myspace, but we got to know each other through myspace! :)
Yes! He's freely admitted that he was looking for hot girls who went to our college. He saw my pic, messaged me, and the rest is history! I definitely don't like telling people how we met. Usually I tell them we met at school. And technically we did "meet" in person for the first time at school. Lol...MySpace is so creepy.
My fiance and I met on MySpace- and whenever we tell people they think it's hilarious. Neither of us are on it anymore either which is sort of ironic I guess.
I had pen pals online that I met in person back before there ever was the internet, so I've never really thought there was anything weird about it. They weren't serial killers- they were normal teenagers that liked college basketball like I did. You shouldn't be embarrassed to tell anyone- it's 2009 and it's no weirder to meet someone online than it is to meet them after a night of drinking in a bar!

Just out of curiosity, I am wondering how many other Bees have found their SO unexpectedly through Myspace. Is it as awkward for you as it is for me to answer the easy question of how you met? We always joke around and say we met through our mutual friend Tom. It doesn't really bother us to tell people we know well, it's just strange when it's someone we don't know well (i.e. our Jeweler, event coordinator, etc.) Just trying to find other gals to relate to and share stories on how it all went down.
