Hello! I'm an Orlando Bride. :-) I'm not getting married until November 2009, so I'm all very new to the planning process!
Another central florida bride here! Brevard County, but I work in Orlando. It is great to see other CFL brides here!
Yay! I'm not the only one!
I'm in Ocala. *yawn* for inspiration, but okay I guess!
How's everyone's wedding planning going in our little section of Florida?
So far we have flowers and cake under control. The guest list is totally out of control! We are going to have to have a bit of a battle with the parents on narrowing things down. I work over 50 hours a week so it makes it hard to plan things. I really need to check the to-do list and get cracking!
What about you ladies? How is the Ocala wedding planning? A good friend of mine got married in Ocala a few years ago, it was really pretty and outdoors.
The only thing I've done so far is set a date! Since it's over a year and a half away, I have been just looking for ideas, especially venues, and trying to figure out what our budget is going to look like.
There are so many options in central florida... a beach wedding, a downtown orlando wedding, a small garden wedding... I'm still at that point where I'm daydreaming about what I want! I think in the next few months we are going to be seriously looking into venues. There are a few spots in Orlando that I love, but I also think that looking outside the city might be a little more budget-friendly.
Hi ladies! I'm already married but a looong time weddingbee reader (yes the addiction doesn't go away=\), excited to see there are ladies from the Central FL area on here! =) Congrats to you all!
thriftsiren- I was on a super tight budget when I got married and had the same concerns you do about venues. I got married at Tanner Hall in Winter Garden. It's right on Lake Apopka and gorgeous at sunset.
Thanks, eugy, I will have to add that to my list of places to check out!

Ocala planning is going really well so far. We're getting married on the beach at my family's lake house (Lake Weir) and reception is on the beach as well.
Went to David's Bridal in Altamonte Springs and had a wonderful shopping experience.
Still searching for the right cake vendor, and I still need to put down my deposit for the photographer, but I'm 204 days away so I have some time yet.
I'm on a tight tight budget. My whole wedding will cost less than $5000, easy. It kind of sucks sometimes because I'd love a big lavish wedding, but I can't see starting our lives together in debt!
We are working under a pretty tight budget too... things add up so fast! Things have been crazy with work, I feel like I will never get a chance to finalize things!
we are thinking of setting our budget at around $5,000-$7,000. i totally agree with the not wanting to go in debt thing. i just love all the budget-friendly tips on weddingbee.. i always figured we'd have to elope to avoid going in debt, but no.. it is possible! woohoo for thrifty central florida brides!
anyone have any good budget friendly tips that have worked for them?
The one thing that really has worked for us is really keeping the floral budget under control. We aren't doing corsages for everyone, huge table top center pieces, etc. We are also doing a cocktail reception vs. a sit down dinner.
Happy Planning

the best things that have helped me with budget trimming is using flowers I bought at Michaels, not real ones. But they are beautifully realistic, even in photos and I can keep them forever!
I also am getting married at a family members property.
I'm doing a bit of DIY including save the dates, invitations, flower bouquets and bouts, bought bulk candles and votive holders and I'm DIY'ing them with ribbons and flowers for centerpieces. Umm.. we are doing a buffett type meal with cookout style food rather than a plated meal with servers. Plus, we are very laid back and we LOVE to cookout ![]()
My best tip though is very obvious, Weddingbee! :P
Hello -
I am a wedding planner in Central Florida, and would love to give out some free advice/answer any questions..Please check out my website-www.kristyrappevents.com
My first wedding was in Orlando (well, at Rollins College in Winter Park).
Super great budget tip - I had all my wedding flowers done by a local tech school floral class (Winter Park Tech) and the total for the whole wedding was under $350. The flowers were gorgeous, too!
If you need any more Orlando/ Winter Park tips, let me know. I'm planning my second wedding here in Atlanta for November :)
