Okay.... SO. Hear me out before you think I am some looser, okay? Lol

I am in my late 30's....Happily married with children. I really never even wanted to read the stupid damn Twilight books! But there I was one day with no current book going and I had the entire Twilight series on my shelves. (As my mother loved them and sent them to me...lol) So I figured what the hell. The first one was..... Okay, I suppose....But then,

I read all 4 books within a week......

And since then I have been non-stop depressed. I mean like REALLY sad!!! It isn't that I am in love with Edward or Jake.... Or any of that. It is more that I am in love with their universe... With ALL of them. Their whole extended family....And I am completely sad knowing that..... Well, I guess knowing that we are mortal and aging. And that my world just could never compare to the lovelyness of those damn books..... I mean, who the hell wants to do dishs and worry about mortgages and kids and messes..... They don't. LOL They get unlimited youth, wealth, protection and love. I wanna be in that world.

The more I dwell on it, the more ridiculous it is!!!!! And today is just a tad better then yesterday, but I just can't help but drift back into Forks when I am supposed to be doing other things....and start crying all over again.

    This is so..... Ugh....

Okay.... Let me have it. :) I deserve all the "You are being so childish! Get over it!!!" comments. I am super embarassed to post this btw. : / But I was thinking I might not be the only one...

I really liked the books!  I also was extremely skeptical...but the books are actually totally entertaining.

I am depressed that they turned these books into COMPLETELY S*&%TTY MOVIES!!  They are just such a let down. Yell

I just read the first one, but I was really addicted to the Harry Potter books so I know what you mean. I feel sad we don't get to visit their world anymore. And there are so many amazing things about the wizarding world. But at the same time, there is more danger and destruction. And chores, too. It's not like Bella doesn't sometimes have to do the laundry too, or load the dishwasher, she might not just write about it, right? Plus it rains all the time there. Wouldn't you rather be on a beach??

Anyway, you might not have unlimited wealth or youth but you have the protection and love of your FH! Is that not all you need?

My FI refuses to read them again because he went through the same thing. I do it with many different series so i'm used to it. I don't think it's sad. I just think we have to focus on what we have that they don't.... like chocolate. haha.

    @ApplePie:

I'm right there with you, girl! Have you ever heard of fanfiction.net? It is where people can go and write their own versions/interpretations or add onto books. I have to admit I have read quite a few of Twilight fanfiction, and some of them are extremely well written! If you don't want Twilight to end, I seriously suggest you check this sight out! PM me if you want to check it out and have any other questions about it. I'm such a dork lol

Thank you guys for your replies.... Sooo much. LOL I felt so silly posting that! But the depression is just horrible, and I was curious if I was the only crazy...

@MademoiselleL: I really liked them too! I realize it doesn't sound that way in my post, but I was surprised as well. I just wish I had taken them in as just fun entertainment..... I really had NO IDEA I would react this way to some OKAY books. lol

@kerensa: I really liked the Harry Potter books a lot too.... And was a bit sad to be done with them, but they DID NOT effect my mood like this series! I have come to the conclusion that there is a curse on them. lol

@MsPanda: I CAN NOT thank you enough for this reply...... As long as there is hope. lol Did you feel like this?? I am totally sad... that it all.... all of them just don't exist. Silly, I know.... Now I am struggling with the thought of the first breaking dawn movie coming out. I really really want to see it, but I need to put the crack pipe down. lmao Are you going to go?

@Misfit: YES!!!!! THAT is what I need.... Reminders of the little things we've got. Chocolate.... :0) And I completely understand your FI not wanting to re-read them.... I think I might donate my copies. If I can bear it. And did your FI get depressed too??

@rachel3212: OH NOOOOO.... Don't tell me that!!!!!!!!!!!! lol That is the last thing I need..... I need to be strong! I need help just saying NO to the fantasy. (As I fight the temptation to leave here and visit fanfiction.net. haha) Oh, and you are not the dork in this senario.... I AM. A dorky nerd. LOL

Thank you so much again.... And if you have any more great advise to help me get over "my own personal brand of heroin" lmao, PLEASE let me know!! I need help...

@ApplePie: He really did. He was miserable for weeks cause he thought that there was no way that real life could ever live up to this perfect amazing world that they lived in and had. He wont read them at all.

I understand it but I prefer to think of my life as it's own book and just because it hasn't reached it's ending yet (and hopefully wont for many many years) doesn't mean it wont turn out just as good =P

self-proclaimed Twihard here and proud of it!!!!!!  Not so depressed though and i will tell you why!

First off, i am not AT ALL ashamed, embarassed about the fact that i LOVE the books.  And i LOVE the movies. I take the movies for what they are and never expected them to reach the quality of the books, so i am okay with that. and let's face it, Taylor Lautner is hot.

So, i don't think you have to worry, because you are sooooo not alone.  And i totally get what you mean about wishing you were in their world.  That is after all the point of books/movies. an escape!  I do also love Edward and Jacob. I could never pick a team.  Well i am guess i am like Bella, in the end, i always knew I loved Edward, but Jacob made it hard!

But here is why i am not depressed, because i think i was when i first finished them.  And i spread them out. I held off reading the 4th book for almost a year because i didn't want it to end!  But, what i love about the Twilght books is that when i was done, i just read them again!  You think its addictive and hard to put down the first time you are reading it?  It is almost as enjoyable the second and third time!  I even have them all on audiobooks and they are a great way to pass time listening to them when cleaning and doing chores, driving in traffic, exercising.  I listen to a lot of audiobooks, not just these ones! But when i run out of other audiobooks to listen to, i just go back to Twilight!

Oh, and please don't be so ashamed for being a fan!  I just roll my eyes at people who think they are too cool/above liking the Twilght books.  They can be as snobby as they want about it. And in the meantime, i am happily enjoying them to fullest!

I haven't read the books, I hated the first movie. I think it was the stupidest thing ever and and refuse to watch it again. It's beyond cheesy with the super slow shots of Edwards pale ass walking towards Bella, or him staring at her in the Chemistry class. But the last two are awesome! Every single time New moon & Eclipse comes on, I have to watch them. Again, and again. Sometimes twice in day. I freaking loveee them and I can't wait for Breaking Dawn. Urghhh... like really? I'm thirty-freaking-nine years old LOL.

Team Jacob!!! Cause he's way hotter.

Ok I am chiming in here. I read the books before the first movie ever came out. I read them in one weekend. So yes, I am a fast reader. The first movie was crap. It was wooden and cheesy and if there were no books to support it would have never gone any further. The rest are getting better as time goes on.

As for the teams. In the books I am strictly Team Edward. The Edward in the books is a million times better than the one in the movies. As for the movies, I think Taylor is yummy and I am 32 so yes he is jail bait....lol. I don't get the Robert thing, but that is just me. I think his face is shaped wierd.

I am not ashamed to admit that I have read and re-read the books several times. My fav book is Breaking Dawn. I have read that one more than the others. I have always liked supernatural books and have many series that I enjoy

@Storm0075: all I can say is ditto to exactly everything you said!

I thought the films were rubbish, and the books were...okay. the first three, yeah they kept me reading but when edward left,I had to skip that part because reading about bella being depressed, made me so depressed (is that weird lol)But breaking dawn is the only one I will read over and over again. I dread to see the film, I just know theyre going to get reneesme all wrong lol!

My sister was obssessed with these books and being that I really enjoy reading and everyone seemed to be in love with them I jumped right in. I got half way through the 3rd book before I gave up. I simply didn't like the books...no worries though I'm not going to start bashing them :)

That said OP I understand how it is to read a book and just fall in love with the story. I read a 4 book series from Jude Deveraux when I was like 17 and was obsessed myself. I've probably re-read the last book in the series 30 times. It gets better!

@june42011: by the way, i just wanted to clarify about when i said i roll my eyes at people who think they are "too good" for the books.  I don't mean everyone has to like them.  Someone like you clearly gave it a chance and it was not your taste.  I have met people IRL though who won't even consider reading them because they are a fad - those are the people i roll my eyes at!

@kimbo89: It was funny I loaned the books to my best friend because we both love to read the same type of books. We were both trying to find replacements for certain characters in the series.I am sure that some of the new characters will be like wtf??? (and for the record I think James is hotter than Edward!!!) Cam Gigandet is yum!

Actually this reminds me I might have to do a spinoff on this on another series....

@PurpleUnicorn: I didn't read your comment, so I wasn't directly anything at you. Embarassed

Just went back and read it and I'm actually going to agree with that last part. I don't like the books but even I get irritated when people act like they are "too good" for them, but I'm like that about mostly anything. If its something you enjoy who cares what other people think.

@Storm0075: i have a friend who after the movie told me James was definitely more her taste!   oh and i also don;t get the Rob Pattison thing. sometimes he still looks like Cedric Diggory to me!  he has his hot moments though. Not like Taylor Lautner who is always hot.  But since i love Edward in the books, i let it translate to the movies as well.  And i did like Rob Pattinson in "Remember Me" (awesome movie).

oh oh, and as for us 30-something ladies being "too old" to legally like Taylor Lautner - NOT TRUE!  We are NOT attracted to a 17 year old boy.  As indicated in the books when he becomes a werewolf, his body matures to its peak, so he actually looks like a 25 year old man.  Taylor Lautner had to play the the part, so he went workout/buff up crazy IRL.  So he really does *not* look like your average 17 year old boy.  He beefed up to look the part and he did a good job of it.  This does, in my "rationalizing my attraction" opinion NOT make us cradle robbers!!

@Storm0075:Cam Gigandet is my new love!!! I wasnt that impressed by his AS James but lordy when he was in The Roommate & Burlesque! OMG! I bought Burlesque just to watch him over & over!!!!

I LOVE the Twilight books and I was one of those eye rolling people to begin with! My brother and his FI lvoed them and I made fun of them so bad for liking Vampire books! LoL I have NO imagination and want to read about REAL things... I HAD to do a unit on Twilight for a highschool girl at work and I had to read it! 2 chapters into Twilight I was hooked and read them all in a week, now own the collectors copy of each, each movie and the illustrated guide! haha Ive read each like 7times! I will read Breaking Dawn again before November

I HATE HATE the movie Twilight; I do like the rest. They are getting better! Edward in the movies makes me ill! I love RPATz in Remember Me; but him and Kristin Stewart are the WORST Bella & Edward ever! The rest of the characters fit to a T for me.... I love Taylor Lautner he is yummy however I think my yum factor lies in Kellan Lutz and the kid that plays Paul! LoL

I did not want to leave the Twilight universe at all; the books to me really pull you into that world, its a huge escape! So when Im missing it; I just re-read! THey get better each time I read them! LoL I even re-read The Short Second Life of Bre Tanner..... I wish theyd make a little movie or something out of that!

Im HOPING HOPING HOPING that Stephenie Meyer still finishes Midnight Sun! I think it would be amazing... I want her to do each book from Edwards perspective... itd give me more to read along with more insight into the characters! Read the Illustrated Guide... I read it on the plane to our Honeymoon and its cool to get into Stephenie Meyers head about the books!

@kimbo89: The little girl that is playing Renesme is GORGEOUS! Mackenzie Foy is her name! I think she will do pretty good!

I feel like this about Harry Potter.  I'm jealous of the Weasley family and the magic and of course Hogwarts.  It seriously depresses me sometimes.  I just try not to think of it too often.

@emersynsmommy35: i totally loved the Bree Tanner book too! i think i will reread one of it these days!  And i pray for a complete Midnight Sun as well!  I assume you read what was there though?  i LOVED it more than Twilight if that is possible.  I fell so in love with Edward after the first 2 books that i considered reading them over again as a way to "spend time with Edward" (yes, i am crazy, i admit it!).  So reading Midnight was like "holy crap, i can't get much closer to Edward than being in his head!"  Much better than only seeing him through Bella's eyes and being with him only when Bella was!  LOL.

I felt a little like that after finishing the Harry Potter series for the first time. At first I was just disapointed that there was no more left to read, and then that made me aware of the contrast between Harry's exciting world and my oridinary one. Reading the books let me escape inside a fantasy world full of magic, adventure and real heros. It was kind of sad to snap back in to reality where there isn't actually a Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry somewhere out there, lol.

I read all four books because I am an avid reader and I really wanted to be able to have a valid view on them. I really hated them, I felt like it was just page after page of people brooding and mooning over each other without doing or saying anything interesting. Just not my taste.

It was soooo much fun to start off my wedding trip by reading through Bella and Edward's wedding, what a treat that was!

@ApplePie: That's why the books got so popular... everyone loves to escape reality... coming back to Earth is hard to do. I think I was most depressed when the final book came out... because that was the end. I want to know more I could read about their life and daughter and family for years to come.

@rachgirl82:  lol, i think that's why i read it too!

i always remember reading on Stephenie Meyer's website that she recommends we read New Moon a second time. She said the first time we will be rushing through it, panicking and wanting to know if and when Edward is coming back.  Second time we will appreciate Jacob sooo much more!  She was totally right!  So i wonder if reading Bree Tanner book a second time will make me appreciate some things about it i didn't the first time around.

@PurpleUnicorn: Rpatz as he goes by has never done it for me. And I agree about the Cedric thing. I tried to feel him from the books, but it just wasn't there for me. And good rationalization on the Taylor thing...lol.

@emersynsmommy35: Cam was so yummy in Burlesque. I had to watch it once i knew he was in it. It was just a good movie, if you like that sort of thing...and I do...lol.

@HappilyEverAfter54: I think that is the hard part about the ending of a series. When you feel like you need to know what happens to the next generation. I would love to have another Twi book come out in 10 years with Renesmee's story.
