I guess with it being winter where the majority of you bees are from my month won't be so popular on that side of the world! Damn :( I hope somebody pops in here!!

i had a friend that got married in NZ a few years ago in January and i went down for the wedding - SO GORGEOUS, I LOVE YOUR COUNTRY! My DH did not even come with me, but i came back raving and somehow convinced him to move there in a couple of years!

My SO and I are tying the knot on 13 January 2013! We are so excited!
If money is right, it'll be Jan 2013. If not, it'll be December 2013 :P Fingers crossed for us bees!!
YAY January 2013. That is the idea at least. I may come to my whits end and just elope but we will see :D

@cabnolen: How random that I happened to check this board today, I haven't been on here for months! I hope the ground is stable for your wedding too, you should have it in Central Otago our weather is awesome and we don't have earthquakes (touch wood!) :) What venue are you using in Christchurch?
@darkness: We're using Hampton Lea Gardens. It's a new venue but it's just so stunning! If you get a chance you should check it out!
I would have had my wedding outside of chch had 90% of my guests not be living in Chch still :)

@Starqueg: Woohoo, date twin! And on the east coast too! Another inauguration day bride-to-be! Where in NYC are you getting married? I used to live in Brooklyn (FI proposed on the Brooklyn Bridge) :) and I love the city!
Hi we are not sure yet but we are either getting married in Jan, Feb or March 2013, in Auckland!!! I am not a Kiwi but my FI is from there. So cool to find bees who are getting married in NZ.
I am a January 12th 2013 bride! I am so excited!
We have our venue, food and my dress came in today!! I am so excited, it only took like a month and a half. I thought it was going to take a lot longer. I am currently pregnant and due in September. I am quite excited I get to try my dress on pre baby. I am so excited for my Canadian winter wedding! It is going to be beautiful! I am just praying that I can lose my baby fat quick so I can look stunning on my wedding day.
@jlc3: I just happened upon this thread and it look like we are date twins! :) Jan 26, 2013 in Sunny S. Florida. :) I am SO excited!
@dawnandjay: Woot!!! That's so exciting! Yours will be a sunny warm wedding - are you doing it outside or inside? Mine will probably be bitterly cold because it's just outside Toronto...but we love winter so that's partially why we chose January! Haha.

I'm a little late here (first post ever), but my fiance and I are getting married January 19th, 2013!

My fiance and I are getting married January 12, 2013. We live in Wisconsin, but we are excited about having a winter wedding. His career keeps him away from home from March-September, so a winter wedding works for us!
My date is January 19, 2013 in Central Florida. I wanted a warmer month, but my fiance wanted to wait a year from our engagement (1-14-12) and I refuse to wait for the Spring to roll back around. :)

We're getting hitched in San Francisco and bringing in bits of my Aussie roots since it's Australia Day.
I am also January 26th, 2013 in Orlando FL!! Such a wonderful date. I love seeing others with the same date :D

We got engaged on Christmas Eve and had to be engaged for a year (per church). I never wanted a spring wedding. Summers are out as my family runs a season business in a beach town, and well Fall of 2013 was way too far off! Hope your planning is going well!
@abomba & @maddison & @Verita: awesome! what made you decide on this date, an anniversary or just a convenient choice? :)
It was several things for us - we are both big US College Football fans so that eliminated the entire fall. We ended up looking between January and August of 2013, and the church was going to be under construction. So we had January, and when I realized that Australia Day was a Saturday it fit!! My mum's an Aussie and is just tickled at our date.
@jlc3 For us it was more what our venue had available. Since all of 2012 was booked we decided on January 2013 and my FI picked the date from there, I guess he just liked the 26th the best :)
how did you end up picking the 26th?
We knew we wanted a weekend in January, and then we had friends out of the country until the 20th. The 26th is Australia Day here, a public holiday, so I had reservations, but we confirmed it when nothing I wanted worked out more expensive because of it, and it also gives people the long weekend for travelling purposes. =)
FutureMrs.Davis sorry, I just noticed that you responded to my post! We've picked a venue, picked the officiant, and we're interviewing photographers right now. Haven't done a whole lot because I'm finishing grad school and have a full-time internship preoccuping my time. Oh! And I think I've got my dress picked out! How about you?

My fiance and I are getting married Jan. 12, 2013....it's the sixth year to the exact date we went on our first date and we have been inseprable every since! I'm super exited to be marrying my bestest friend. I already have the ceremony and reception venue, wedding party is complete, colors and dresses have been chosen, menus have been selected, but the cake, caterer, photographer, and videographer is still in the air. :(
@Verita: Similar to you, it was a venue thing. Originally we were thinking of an early December wedding just because the first snowfalls of winter are always the prettiest, why not try to schedule then, but our venue was booked for holiday parties so we went for the end of January, once everyone has recovered from travelling during the busy holiday season. Plus other than New Year's nothing exciting happens in January other than snow, lol. Just seemed like we should change that! :)
I am just wondering if any other January Brides received snarky comments about getting married in January?
I think the worst I have heard when asked if we had picked a date and I responded with January was "Eww, what a horrible time of the year why would you want to get married then?" I politely gave my reasons, not that I had to, and the person got very defensive and abruptly ended the conversation anad walked away. Weird.
I have had a couple people turn up their nose a bit at the idea of January. But I haven't heard too many snarky comments. Just a lot of "Why January?" We are just not summer people and winter is our favourite season, so why not I say. People can be weird. I've learned that since we got engaged..people say the weirdest stuff to newly engaged couples, lol.
We also saw our reception venue at the same time this year during a blizzard, and just loved the cozy feel of our hall and seeing the snow outside from the big windows inside.
@jlc3: Aww how awesome that you got to see it in the snow. I thikn that would make for such an amazing day and awesome photos. I won't get my hopes up for it though.
