Hello Hive!
I am just wondering if anyone else out there is obsessively planning a July 2010 wedding. My family thinks that I am crazy for already starting to nail things down, and I am starting to wonder if I really am losing my sanity. Anyone else in the same boat?
I'm July 2009, but as someone halfway through the process, I have to say you're lucky to be starting so early!!! You can get the best photographer, venue, etc. If you want to talk to someone else planning a long engagement HumarockBride is planning for 2010.
Welcome to the Hive!!
We are getting married March 5, 2010 - and we are 90% DONE! everything is planned, venue deposit down, photog picked, dress purchased, game plan down pat, and its sooo much better! We can focus on paying eveything off and go into 2010 w/ minimal worries! I live by lists and planning, so I know my own limits, and I know for my own anxity level, it's better I act now and let everythig fall into place next year!
Even later...August 2010! I'm personally loving it. Gives you so much extra time to plan with minimal stress!
Yes! I'm a July 2010 bride. We're teachers & prefer to do it in the summer. Since we are just barely engaged, this summer is too early so - voila! - July 2010. It's great to have longer to save $$, too.
As far as I'm concerned, it's never too early to start planning--especially since several of the venues I've called are already booked for a few weekends of that month. Add in the 9 months or so to get a dress made, and there you go!
Mitla, the fact that I am a teacher is exactly what influenced our decision to hold off until summer 2010 as well! I am glad to hear that we are not the only ones!
We actually got engaged on July 3, 2010 and everyone I knew thought we were crazy for waiting two years! But I have found it sooo much less stressful!! We are just taking one thing at a time and booking it. We had the Church and Reception hall booked by August 2008. Then we booked the photographer by December 2008. We booked our DJ in January 2009, and we just booked our videographer in February 2009! Next we are looking at limos! We wanted to book everything that required a person to be there so we would have the biggest selection and not come across someone we loved but couldnt use because they were already booked!
It's nice having all the time cause you don't have to do a million things at once! I love it!
So if your crazy, I'm crazy! haha
I'm another teacher, too and that really made a difference when deciding on dates. We had originally thought of June, but when none of the weekends worked out, we came to July!
We have our venue already becuase we want to get married in our college town. It's a popular choice for allumni, so we needed to start early!
We are July 17, 2010, and I, too, am a teacher! We got engaged LAST christmas (December 2007) and wanted to wait until I was done with graduate school. I will graduate in September 2009, so July 2010 it is.
I started planning back when we got engaged, then threw all of those ideas out, now Im blending the original ideas with new ones. Aye aye aye. Its the worst, because Im an indecisive person, but I guess all this flip flopping will lead me to decisions that I really really love, I sure can take my time!
My FH thinks Im a little crazy every time (which is VERY VERY OFTEN) I bring up wedding stuff. He's a good sport, but tells me I wont remember any of this months from now, cause we've got so much time.
I think these things take time to plan, and everyone tells me Im so lucky to have so much time, so Im taking advantage of it!
We are getting married July 2010. We have been engaged for over a year already so I was able to book any vendor I wanted because they were all available so far in advance. Even with a 2.5 year engagement, I am sure when it comes down to it, I will still be rushing to get things done the last week like most other brides!
This topic is a bit old, but we are intending to get married in July 2010, due to my dad's schedule and the weather in this beautiful state (who am I kidding, it could still snow in July in Montana). I'm already antsy because: 1) enter lack of engagement ring here; 2) I'm not sure how into planning I can get without said left hand ring; 3) I'm worried that if we don't have 18 months (too late now!) all of the venues we want and can afford will be booked. So I've got a lot of ideas, photos and bullet-point lists, but nothing actually planned. GAH! 16 months away- way too little time for someone who has the word "planner" on her business card!
I'm also a July 2010 bride - hoping for July 31, 2010...it will all depend on vendors! We aren't teachers but love the summer weather and couldn't imagine a better time to get married! So glad to know I'm not crazy and planning this early is not uncommon! :)
CHK, I totally understand, I was where you are!
I originally wanted June 2010, but once we finally got engaged (I started planning in sept, but he didn't propose until NYE) our weekend was booked. I was disappoitned at first, but it ended up being a good thing. It was like I had to re-vamp or ditch all of the ideas I had before we were engaged.... a fresh start.
I have my venue booked now, but Boy and I are kind of unsure what we're supposed to be doing next. What are you ladies doing to pass the time?
@sezzy: Did you end up using the same venue on a later date, or have to go with a whole new venue? We've got a pretty decent idea of what we want, but I'm afraid I won't *love* the venues on our list. I've already been to a lot of other people's weddings at them!
Literally, the only argument in our relationsihp is where to get married.![]()
We're getting married July 10, 2010, and we've been engaged since September. My fiance is away with the Marine Corps and I'm in college, so I'm taking advantage of the long engagement to plan at a leisurely pace! So far I've only booked the venue and the photographer (plus the caterer is included with the venue), and I don't feel a ton of pressure to book everything else right this minute. I have, however, looked at about a million pictures of flowers, dresses, centerpieces, etc. I'm really glad that we have this extra time, because the things that I like now are totally different than the things I liked when we first got engaged.
We ended up using the same venue at a later date, so it ended up being no big deal. I'm sorry that it has been such a problem for you! I understand the not being the dream venue issue- we had that problem as well. The venue that we wanted is a grand ballroom, but it turns out that the hotel only rents it out to weddings of 200 plus people (that was not the case when I worked there), so I did throw a private, minor temper tantrum over that fact.
I try to focus on the people that will be there and all of the fun things I can do to make our space our own!
Miss Berry, I am getting married July 10th, 2010 too! I think that the date has such a nice ring to it, and I am hoping that it doesn't get too hot here (Ontario).
Hello Hive!
Our date is set for July 23, 2010. We already have the ceremony/reception venue, the DJ and possibly the photographer. I'm glad I'm not the only one that's getting married so far away! All my friends think I'm crazy for planning already, but I like to get things done ahead of time. Oh... and I'm a teacher too. I guess July is a magic month for us!
Hi there July brides! I'm one too and SO EXCITED! I'm marrying a teacher, guess its the perfect teacher month! :)
You ladies are all making me feel way behind my game now - I don't even have a ring yet, so we are doing some preliminary planning but haven't reserved anything yet. Now I'm stressed that we have to get a move on!!
Im an August 2010 bride and I am in the same boat as you. No I don't think that it is too early to start planning and nailing stuff down. Less stress and hassle that way.
I'm not a July 2010 bride... I'm a November 2010 bride! =) I don't think you are crazy at all for starting early. I have already booked our photographer, videography, reception venue and ceremony site. In my case, a lot of vendors said they are raising their prices in 2010 but since I'm booking early, they were giving me 2009 pricing plus a discount because of the economy!
With that said, I think it's great that you're starting your planning early. Hopefully you will be getting some good deals too! =)
We have an appointment thsi weekend to book our venue for July 10, 2010. I don't think it is too early to be planning. Heck, half of the venue we called were already booked up for the month of July 2010, so I definitely don't think it is too early. Plus, you get your first choice venue, photographer, etcs. :)
Yay for July 2010 brides!! :)
Hey girls!
We are busy starting to plan a July 10/17 2010 wedding, we are both excited for candy buffet, lots of desserts and a tented outdoor evening/night reception.
We have been doing lots of research/conceptualizing, but can't get too much planning done because we are trying to buy/build a house for summer 2009, so we are busy little bees here.
I am looking forward to getting the house done and moved into so I can get the wedding plans into gear!
Hello everyone! I'm so glad there is more of me out there :) I have recently started contacting venus for my wedding on July 17th 2010! I'm so excited and can't wait to get everything organized so I can just relax and enjoy the rest of the year. If anyone has any ideas for color schemes or anything related to wedding decore' let me know! I have been going through a bunch of different colors and I'm not sure what I want to settle with :)
Hello July 2010 Brides! I am one as well! We are still picking our exact date, but we are 99% sure it will be in July. We have been looking at venues for the past few months and we have narrowed it down to 2 now. I am enjoying having over a year to plan because it eliminates some of the stress!
We're another set of teachers planning our July 2010 wedding! There was just no way we were going to have it during the school year since it'll be my first year teaching and I'll have enough on my mind about that! We found our venue last month and by the time we asked about availability they only had 2 DATES available for the entire summer of 2010!! We quickly snatched up 7-11. Besides, it'll be easy to remember for anniversaries :)
Ms Mini - we are also buying a house this summer but I'd rather get as much done with the wedding now so we can spend more time later this summer fixing up the house. Such fun stuff!! :)
Oh! anaguajuel you're stressing me out with the info that there were only 2 dates left available for July 2010! I wish I could send that to Boyfriend as a not-so-subtle hint as to why he should pop the question LIKE NOW.
Ugh. angst over getting a date.
OH! Sorry...this should make you feel better...out of the dozen or so places we looked at, that was the only one that was completely booked. There was only one other place that was like half-way booked and the rest only had a few dates already booked (this was in April/May). I'm thinking that the reason being is that the place we went to is pretty new and well-known around town. I'm sure you'll be fine!! Don't stress. If he still hasn't asked you in September though? Well...I'm sure there are plenty of hints that you can send his way :)
Oh, and I COMPLETELY feel you on being antsy for him to pop the question. He sent me a flyer for a bridal show (yes, HE sent ME) in October, we picked out a ring in December, and didn't ask me until April. Hang in there :)
I'm another July 17, 2010 bride--I'm hoping to finish up grad school in June, then get married before I (with luck) start a job! :)
We're getting married July 10, 2010! I went to the restaurant where we want to have our reception & he was almost completely booked for July 2010 (and he was booked my date). It's the best restaurant in town... so I should have figured he'd be booked. Luckily I've made cakes for events he's catered before so he made an exception I got my date from 8am-430pm. At first I wasn't sold on a morning wedding, but it would feel so weird having anyone but Marcel cater it! His food is the best in the city. It's amazing.... I'm literally drooling thinking about it lol. sorry.
We've decided (because we will have a lot of OOT guests) we're going to make it a weekend wedding. Welcome BBQ/rehearsal on the Friday night, 11am wedding & luncheon to follow on the saturday, & sightseeing w/ a picnic in downtown Vancouver.
Now I have to figure out how to make a morning wedding happen. Also, I'm concerned about getting a photographer. I won't need an 8 hour package... so am I really "worth it" in the eyes of the photographer?! Eekk.. thank goodness I have a year! Thats the best part of a 2010 wedding... time! lol
July 10, 2010! Just went to visit our likely venue today and it has put me in full wedding plan mode! Before I had a visual as to what our location would look like I felt a little silly trying to figure out colors and themes and whatnot, but now that I can mentally picture it, it's all engines go!
I'm uber excited! I really want to dress shop but I feel like it's a little early to do so?
Think it's jumping the gun?
We're getting married July 31st, 2010 at our campsite. I've already got my dress, underthings, veil & headpiece done. Invitations are underway and the material for the men's ties is bought.
The way I see it is if once we move in together in September we can have everything done by March, we'll be okay for last minute things.
I'm a 7/17/10 bride, too!! We booked our venue and photographer back in April, and haven't done much other than gather inspiration since then. Our venue is full service, so I don't really have many other vendors to book, and the ones I do need to book our venue can find for us if we choose.
Hey girls. I am a July 31st, 2010 bride. I am actually very excited about planning everything this summer. I am a teacher, so I am getting things together, before school starts. I have the cerermony, reception venues, the dress, and picked the colors for the wedding. I have a few more things to get done and then I can enjoy the rest of the jouney
I'm a July 24th, 2010 bride, and a teacher too! Summer just suits the wedding and honeymoon situation better with work. I pretty much have everything done, just have to order my dress, limos, and choose a honeymoon spot!
I'm also a 7-17-10 bride. We have our venue nailed down, but that's all we've done vendor-wise. We were originally planning on 6-19-10, but we are getting married in Oregon and the owners of our venue advised us that we'd be more likely to get rained on in June, so we pushed the date back a month. I know a tent would be the more obvious solution, but the venue is a gorgeous grove of oak trees and we felt a tent would ruin the beauty of the place.
On an odd side note, I prefer the number 17 anyway.
I feel so behind... I'm also a teacher, I have the color, venue, and date (July 3, 2010) picked out. I wanted to have all of this done by Jan. 2010. I am a little worried... and lost. Trying to get everything together during the school year is going to be CRAZY! Oh my... what a trip this will be. Wish me luck!
