Hi! Just wondering who else met their SO on match? I had been on and off the site (and other dating sites) for about 4 years. Then that catfish show started on MTV and I decided maybe online dating isn’t the best and went to cancel my account…of course I had to have one more look around and there he was! A profile that was only a week old with my cute boyfriend and his dog in their hunting gear (drool! haha). We only talked for a little over a week before we met, but what can I say, I HAD to meet him!
Anyway who else met on match (or another dating site?) How long did you talk before you met? When did you know he was the one and lastly…how long before you were engaged?
I feel like a lot of online relationships move a lot faster…I feel like its because you can weed out people fast and you can get through all the very important must haves before even meeting in person…you pretty much know if your personalities mesh before you even meet…and after that it is all about having an in person connection to back up what you have already developed.

@Tatertot2003: My husband and I are a match.com couple. 🙂 We emailed and talked on the phone for about a month before we met. We were engaged two years after that and just got married in March.
It’s funny because he never seemed to answer my questions in emails so I kind of wrote him off that he wasn’t interested in me. Then we talked on the phone for the first time and it ended up being a four hour conversation. We did move pretty fast after that (even though we weren’t engaged until two years in). But after our first date, we saw each other 4-5 times a week. We hit the ground running and never looked back.
That’s awesome that you saw your boyfriend’s profile just when you were about to cancel–it must be fate! 😉

I signed up for a one month subscription, went on a few dud dates, and then decided to take a break from the online dating scene and did not continue my paid subscription. Curiosity got the best of me and I still checked my profile for any “winks”. My fiance had sent me a wink and after reading his profile, I thought he sounded a lot like me (he also had an attractive photo of him with his dog). I searched the internet for him based on what I knew about him, and came up with nothing. Finally I came up with the idea to sign up for three day free trial so I could read the message he sent me. We did not spend much time exchanging messages; we set up a date right away and met that weekend. Our four year anniversary of that first date is today! 🙂
He proposed really soon into our relationship…five months in, without a ring. I said yes, because I knew he was a keeper. He proposed again a little over a year into our relationship.
