Yeah we are date twins!!!!  Everything is going great, had a little snafoo when the photographer backed out last week but I have a new one booked so all is well.

All I have left to do is buy a few things like nail polish, hair comb, etc. and I'm done.

How about you?  Are you coasting till the end?

Are you doing a morning, afternoon, or minute before midnight ceremony? Ours is in the morning so everyone has the entire day to celebrate how they want for NYE.

Well, I feel like I have a lot to do yet, but some of it I can't do until the day before the wedding. So we are getting there. I just can't wait until the day of and I can just relax and enjoy the day!

Haha... I just realized I didn't really answer any of your questions.... sorry about that.  We are doing an afternoon ceremony, and a late evening reception.  Things I have to do are finish sewing capes for my bridesmaids, finish my veil, make my centerpieces (these have to be done day before though), buy the stuff to make my centerpieces, haha.  So I'm not quite coasting, but I got most everything done.

Fi is driving me nuts.  He just now decided yesteday what wedding band he wants. I ordered it from the jeweler today, hopefully will be here in time. We're cutting it close!

He still hasn't decided where he wants to have lunch after the ceremony either.  UGH!

    91011Bride    September 10, 2011   Destination wedding

Well, currently I'm a 9/10/11 bride.  However, Mister came across the idea of us doing a New Year's Eve wedding.  I told him it would be pricey given the time of year and that it might be hard to find a venue.  But he is really liking the idea.  So... his idea was to bring in 2011 as husband and wife.  That moves the wedding up 9 months!!!  So, depending on the cost (and the official engagement) I might have to change my name from 91011Bride to 123110Bride or event 1111Bride.  LOL!!!  I do like the wedding date 1/1/11, but that is New Year's Day.  Ummm, I could suggest that.  In any event, New Years Eve Brides, tell me, are you spending more due to the date of your wedding and how hard was it to find a venue?

I LOVE the idea of a NYE wedding.. it's actually the day that M and I decided on at first before i backed off of such much wedding talk... whenever i get the ring i'll announce the new day :D... i think it's a quite common thing to do.  at 91011 bride, please don't change your name!! i'll forget it's you!!! lol!!! i say the sooner you can get the ring and book the better.. most places will still be semi-decorated for christmas... you would probably pay a larger premium but your guest count may be lower which would even out the cost increase.  or you could do a lot of things diy which would save money.

My date is 12/31/11. And let me tell you. Prices are raised so much because of the holiday! Amazingly (or stupidly) enough we didn't think of it when we first started planning. But it's worked fine.

We found some great deals... open bar that night for 5 hours for just $1500! It just takes some shopping around and yes, at that time of year a lot of people won't be able to make it due to Christmas being right before it, but those people who want to be there will be there, it will be great no matter what! I can't wait!

We also thought about doing it New Year's Day 1/1/2010 but for tax purposes it makes sense to just do it one day earlier.

When I was calling about quotes for New Year's Eve, some vendors charged more but most did not.  Maybe because my ceremony is so small.  There were a few officiants that charged $250 more for that day and photographers were generally charging an additional $250-$300 as well.

I am very lucky to have found an officiant and photographer that were sympathetic to our situation (my original photographer backed out recently) and since I'm an officiant as well I'm getting a professional discount.

We ordered M's wedding band yesterday, talk about procrastination!!  It will be here in 3 weeks and boy do I hope it fits!

Not nervous at all.  Just excited to get everything over with!  We wanted New Years because it gave us the absolutely longest time to plan and still get married in 2009!

We haven't had an issue with prices, partly I think, because we're getting married in Toledo Ohio.  We're the only event at our hotel, and we booked in July of this year, if that tells you anything about Toledo's economy!

Yeah we ordered our wedding rings a while ago, but since we bought online, FH didn't want to get measured in a store.  So of course, when they came in, his ring was too small.  I just shipped it back yesterday to get resized, thank god they do free resizing!  But I was a little annoyed, lol.

There are some of our family who won't be coming because they do annual trips, and I have some cousins who are around my age, that would rather spend the night with their friends.  Which is fine with me, we way over-invited, lol.  So I'm trying to keep our numbers down, because our reception is costing us more money than I want to think about.

For the honeymoon, we got a decent deal on a cruise, but our flights are pretty expensive since we're flying out on 1/1/2010.  But it works for us.  I just can't wait till the day is here!  Then maybe I can focus on other things, lol.  I will probably be bored after the wedding, haha.

Wow, roughly 4.5 weeks away!!!  Tomorrow FI will be at work so I can get some running around done without him being bored out of his mind. I bought hair combs on Friday and he seriously was annoyed because it was the only thing I was buying.  Ha ha, men just don't get it.  There's not "one" store that has everything I need.  For now I just need some spanx, nail polish for tips (already have color for toes which is my something blue), strapless bra, and today I'll glue the little beads on the hair combs which match my shoes.

Did you get a garter to wear?  I wanted a purple one to match the flowers but I think it will be visible through my dress I decided against one.  Not to mention, it doesn't at all go with my wedding night attire. LOL  When we walked by Victor's Secret he said he hoped no one got me something frilly for our wedding night. I told him I already bought something a few months ago and it's very non-bride like. He asked why I was bothering at all, he'd be perfectly happy with a nude bride. LOL

Are you planning your wedding from Chicago or is that where you guys will live afterwards?

Chicago is where we live now and where we will live afterwards.  I have bought a few teddy's to wear during the honeymoon.  FH doesn't know about them, I'm not really a teddy person, but I thought it might spice things up a bit, lol.

I did get a garter, but it's the garter my MOH picked up for my bachelorette party this past weekend that she made me wear over my jeans.  She says it cost $1.  I'm wearing it for the wedding because it's all white so it won't show, and that means I don't have to spend $25-$30 on one at a bridal store.  Besides, I don't really want to keep it, it's just for the toss.

I def plan on getting all my crafting done the weekend the FH is at his bachelor party.  A couple of my girlfriends might come up that weekend to help, or my mom and sis might come if the girlfriends can't. I have added another DIY project, lol.  I'm feeling a little panicked at this point over those.

We're still waiting on FH's ring to come in, we had to send it back to get resized.  I was hoping to get some crafting done this week, but FH has committed us to dinner on Wed with his aunt, Thurs with a friend, and Fri we're leaving to go back to Toledo, to have our final meeting with our priest this Sat.  Lol, so this week is a bust.

We had the shower this past weekend.  And on Sunday we got back so late that we just left all the gifts in the car.  So I unloaded last night, but we had a welcome home party/going away party (long story) to attend so they just got piled on the counter.  So tonight, we will have to unpack them all and get them put away and clean out the handme down stuff we have, lol.  Busy week planned.

Are you guys doing a honeymoon?  Where at in Florida are you getting married?  My bro and SIL live in Orlando, we're flying into Orlando for our cruise and leave out of Port Canaveral.

Hello ladies, not NYE here, but New Years Day... and equally excited. :) I've found that most of my vendors are actually cutting deals... a far cry from the insane sky high prices that people warned me about for having a wedding on a holiday.

We were scared at first... that we might inconvenience some guests, but we've had an overwhelming response of people being excited to spend the holiday with us.

Congrats to all of you holiday brides! We are especially lucky because everything is so beautiful this time of year with holiday decorations. :)

Awesome krae!!!  We actually thought about New Year's Day as well but then for tax purposes so we can file married joint 2009 we bumped it one day prior.  It's FI's fave holday anyway.

It will SO easy to remember our anniversaries, that's the best :)

Since we're in FL I'm hoping the weather is a bit warm that day and not raining.  Otherwise I have no backup for indoor .

Me, me, me! I'm NYE, but 2010 and I can hardly wait. @lindsay12.31.10 we are date twins!

Congrats to all of my fellow NYE bees. We are getting married at the same hotel venue as the reception and believe it or not, the hotel booked the other ballroom within days of us booking ours. It's going to be a very "hot" date next year!

Are any of you gals incorporating new year's into the night. If so, what are you planning?

We're planning our New Year's Eve 2010 wedding in Seattle.

We've definitely had some problems with the date. Many of the venues charge a LOT more because of the holiday. They've raised the base rate and if they require staffing (most do) they also pay their staff more on that night. One of the other major problems are that many venues require that we be out and cleaned up by 11 or 12! Some places are extending this but others aren't.

We now have a list of venues in our price range but it's a lot less to choose from than I thought it was going to be. We're trying to take care of locking down the venue and date this weekend, even though it is a year in advance since we really do have so little to choose from (we're also bringing our own caterer which narrows things considerably too--but she's awesome so it's well worth it!).

wow, i'm really surprised (or maybe not) that places are increasing prices. our reception venue is the same as if we were getting married any other day of the year. our photographer is actually discounting $600 for the wedding being in the winter and on a friday (major score!). every other vendor i've contacted (that would need to work on the day of) has indicated there are no additional charges for it being nye - and we've made sure to ask specifically. i guess we're just totally lucking out! :)

I wasn't a New Years Eve bride, but I did get proposed to on NYE! I went to a NYE wedding once, it was super fun. Everyone seemed to be extra pumped up because of it.
