I know this is a little late but I am getting married in April in Pulaski Square with the reception at 109 West Liberty (house where the wedding party will be staying as well). I think that many Savannah weddings are destination weddings, like yourself. I actually live here though, but only since July, and none of our family and friends live here so it is a destination for them.
Hi fellow Savannah bride! I live in Los Angeles now but I went to SCAD and lived there for 4 years.
The 109 West Liberty house is awesome! I used to live in Drayton Tower and parked my car at the SCAD lot that is next to the house! They really did a great job fixing up and styling the house.
I'd love to hear more about what you have planned.
@Zusie: I'm using First City Events and a friend of mine used them at her wedding this past September. She was really happy with them and so far I am too.
We have decided to get married on a Friday at the Westin in downtown Savannah and would like to have a party on Saturday evening, maybe on Tybee Island. We want casual, maybe a low country boil. This event would be separate from the reception. Any suggestions on location, caters, etc.?
@sleniseg: I don't know many specifics but you shouldn't have a hard time finding a caterer to do a low-country boil around here. We are going with Delightful Catering just because it was so much cheaper than anyone else. I think she can do the low-country thing but we are doing fried chicken and barbecue. You also may want to look into The Crab Shack, which is on Tybee. I don't know that you can rent it out but they might cater and that is the food they do.
Hey Ladies! Congratulations on your engagments! We are also thinking about having our wedding in savannah next spring. I live in jacksonville florida and was considering getting a wedding planner to help plan it. I'm not to familar with all the venues except the ones adviertised online. We know we want to have a the max 50 people attending the wedding.
Do you happen to know if Tricia Huddas & Co events is any good? Or do you have any suggestions or lessons learned when planning your weddings?
I just am a little cautions picking venues now, because I'm one of the palm valley garden brides that lost there venue because the owner was lying to people and did not have the proper permits.
Thanks for any feedback!

I'm getting married in Savannah next year and this board looks pretty dead. Anyone else out there?
Where are you having your weddings?
Mine will be at the Davenport House Garden and the reception is at Vic's on the River.
