yes, i will turn 38 soon and FI will turn 30 a few days before the wedding...it's our one and only wedding/marriage and I am his one and only girlfriend...late bloomers /waited on God's timing...Can u believe it? We work with kids so we're very young at heart and  still act like 25 year olds (mature ones!).

Yay for us!  808bride, that's beautiful about you guys!!

    I do beat you guys a little bit - I'll be 39!

And let me say for the record for everyone out there who is um "older" that there's nothing wrong with not saying yes to the first one that asks and/or waiting for the right guy or girl.

Well, you just made my day!  Guess it's all that moderation I've practiced in my life.  "Everything in moderation, including moderation..."

Younger fiance just shows how young you are at heart ;)

I'm not quite 35--will be 34 in November--but I definitely feel like a grown-up bride and not like a dewy 20-something. :) FI is 40, I"m 33 and this will be our first marriage. We've been together for 10 years.

It is funny dealing with wedding vendors who expect you to be 22 and desirous of being nothing more than a princess on your wedding day... :)

I'm 38 and FH will be 33 by wedding time. First (hopefully only) marriage for both. I wanted nothing more than to get married when I was younger, then I got over it. I really did. A few years later -- poof! The right man can change everything :-)

I'll be 36 by the time we tie the knot next year, and my FH will be 37, first marriage for both of us.

to be honest, i can't imagine having got married earlier - I spent my twenties travelling and living in lots of different places, then have kind of settled down a bit in the last couple of years.

I am a first time bride at 36, FI is 39 (this will be his second -- and last -- marriage).

I was having entirely too much fun in my 20s and early 30s to ever settle down. But the right guy has come along and I am extremely happy to be getting married! And a bit scared, it feels like "grown-up" life will be starting soon.

Both my FH and I are 40.  He was married once and has a beautiful 5 year old daughter.  I was going to get married before but luckily, I dodged that bullet!  I waited until the right guy came around and voila! Here he is!

I always joke that my mom and his brother met up in heaven and told each other about us and decided to get us together because we're the perfect fit.  :)

I am glad that I had those years of living on my own to really develop who I was as a person and experience life.  Otherwise, I might have some regret now if I never got out there and traveled as much as I did.  I tell everyone who is younger not to jump into things just because society deems that we have to be married in our 20's, ideally.  Live life, experience as much as you can so you can bring your experiences to your future marriage.

I am 35 now, will be 36 when we get married and FI is 33.  This will be my first and only marriage, it is his second and last marriage!!

I truly thought for years that I would never find the right man!  I had started to give up hope and then I received a message from yahoo personals stating somebody had sent me a message.  So I paid the $60 for membership just to get the message and the rest is history!!  Never thought you could find true love from an online ad, but again I was wrong and am proof that you can!!  That was in April of 2008 and became engaged in October of 2008 and will be married on October 3rd. 2009.  Might be a little fast for some people, but when you know you've found the "ONE" there is no need to wait!!  We have so much fun together and enjoy being with one another!  We both know what we want in life and with each other, I think before we met, neither one of us was quite ready to settle down.  I'm glad and thankful we met later in life and now know where we are headed!

I'm 35 now and will be 36 when we get married. It is a first marriage for both of us. We met online also.   I had just about given up on finding some one, when I found FI. One thing that is very true is that we are more mature and know what we what out of life, but at the same time I know it's going to be difficult for us to merge our lives together as we have both lived alone for a while. Him for 4 years and myself for almost ten.  It would be neat to have an older brides board. PErhaps 30 plus?

So, I'm winning sometning!  Well, FI will be 47 then.  He has 2 sons--one is now 21 and the other is 18.  He wanted to wait until the child support was almost over.  It's been interesting since sometimes we have to treat the 21 yo like a 5 yo.

Thanks everyone for sharing your stories!!!  Keep em coming!

kayakgirl73, I really like the idea of an older brides board!  Can that happen?  How?  Or even a blog for um, older (I do hate the word older, maybe over 30?) brides?  Maybe I'll think about starting one.

I'm a few months shy of 35, and FI is 6 months younger -  it's the first marriage for the both of us.

While I agonized having to wait (I was one of the "will it ever happen to me?!" type girls) - I can definitely appreciate being an older bride and I wouldn't change anything in the world (easy to say NOW!!!)

I think a board for older brides would be SO wonderful!  I think there is definitely a different perspective.  It's funny having my friends who got married right out of college now give me advice on wedding planning - I find myself saying "not going to do that, it doesn't really matter" A LOT more than I thought I would.  :)

I'm so glad you started this thread -- yay!  My husband and I were married in May -- I'm 37, he's 40.  I was a first-time bride, and he was a second-time groom.  Our wedding was just perfect and being a newlywed is even better!!

I'm a first time bride and I'll be a month and a half shy of 44 on the big day.  I too, didn't think that it was in the cards for me, was even ok with that, and then "there he was!"

I have so many hilarious stories about wedding planning as an "older" bride......the looks from the sales people in the bridal salons....... the invitation people who thought that I was planning my daughters wedding.......dress shopping and the "you mean that you're looking for a dress like these".......I could write a book!

Okay now I am convinced - we need an older brides board!  How do we get one?? who are the powers that bee (hahaha)?

Hvae you guys (speaking of hilarious stories) ever seen what some of the wesbites magazine want um "mature" brides to wear? Mature is my 96 year old grandma and she'd never wear half of that stuff.

btw what's everyone wearing?  i'm wearing a very slinky, fitted and sexy dress.  not a princess style (but I'd totally rock a princess dress if that is what I wanted - nothing to do with age!) at all but also defintely not a "mature" bride dress!!!

@baffled111-about vendors expecting you to be 22: I'm 32 but I look like I'm probably 22-24 and the lady from our venue told my dad I look too young to get married! Boy was she shocked when my dad told her I was 32-she wanted to see my drivers license.

@wildstyle-there is a Weddingbee Ideas link in the right-hand column. If you want to suggest an Over 30 Board, that would be a great place to do it!

Hey Mrs. DJ we're almost the same I am 39 my fiance is 27; my friends call me a cougar-I dont like that term; first time for both of us and last time too; funny they think he looks older than me hehe

oh well I cant help it if younger men dig me, I take it as a compliment

ever since I hit 28 I've been dating younger and younger men; to be honest they are more attractive than older guys, older guys are stable yes but they dont quite take care of themselves

Not 35 yet but getting closer all the time!  I'm 32 and I'll be 32 when we get married.  FI is 34 and will be 35 when we get married.  We met when I was 29 and he was 31 and I am so thankful he came into my life when he did.  I don't think I would have been ready for him or appreciated him as much when I was 25 or 26.

I voted on the idea for a board for brides over 30 but I couldn't think of a creative name for the board so if anyone wants to go to the link above and vote for the idea AND think of a name for it we might see it appear someday!

I was very right in my post six months ago that it would be a hard transition since we had both lived alone for so long. It has not been easy.

First time bride that will be 40 when I get married. FI will turn 30 the weekend before we get married and it's his first time too. Thankfully, none of my friends have used the "cougar" word. Then again, it helps that most of them think he's older than he is! :D

I will be 38 when I get married. Gosh! I hate saying that! This will be my first marriage and Howard's 2nd. He first married fresh out of high school. He will be 39 on our wedding day. I'm so glad he has NO children!

Hello Sisters! I'm 36 and finally getting married. I"ve been in my relationship for many years, but I just was not ready to be legally bound to anyone. At 36, and a mortgage with my FI, it seems more functional to make it legal. Now, I'm enjoying the promise of a beautiful ceremony.
