@Serey:  I actually had one done when I was about 4wks, I didnt even know I was pregnant yet. It didnt seem to affect the baby or anything, if you feel like you dont want to do it you can always wait til after you give birth. However I dont see it being a problem to your pregnancy, Im sure if it was your doctor would recomend not doing it.

I didn’t have one done while I was pregnant but I did have one.  I didn’t think they did these when women were pregnant though really because from my understanding there isn’t much that you can do once you get the results back.  My results showed I had precancerous growths on my cervix and they recommended having a LEEP procedure done.  However, I do not think they recommend doing this while you are pregnant and I think instead advise you to wait until you have given birth to have it done.  So I don’t know what having a colposcopy would do at this stage except to rule out the need for surgery?  I would ask your doctor about this and see what the advantages are of having one done and then decide.  If they have a good reason such as getting a better idea of how severe your case is so they can continue to monitor it throughout your pregnancy I don’t think it would be a problem.  If there aren’t many advantages to doing it now though, I would just wait.

I just had one done last week (not PG though) – I asked them about this as we will be TTC soon. I *think* they said you can still do the colpo and possibly still get a biopsy done (although don’t quote me on the biopsy part) while pregnant. However if anything further needs to be done,as PP said, they probably would wait until after you’ve given birth.

I would not do it, there’s nothing they can do anyway until after the baby’s born. I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t want to do a cone while pg either, there’s a chance it could shorten your cervix. I’ve had a colposcopy and a LEEP, but it was way before I got pregnant. I would get a second opinion if they’re trying to say you need it now. My friend had an abnormal pap come up while she was pg and they waited until after her baby was born to do a colposcopy.
