I went to Pilates once and although it made me feel great after physically I also felt off. So I opted to wait. I’m still on the fence if I will go back because it’s a group session and they do a lot of on your back exercises which is not good after first tri.

I did a bit of prenatal yoga on Saturday but it left me feeling really dizzy afterwards.

So I think my body is just not ready for it all. When the work day allows it I do try to take a walk around the block. When I get home, forget about it, way too drained.

I think it’s more important to listen to your body. I gave exercise a go at certain intervals and my body was not happy about it! I wouldn’t say not do it all, just do short intervals. If you don’t feel good today try again in a couple days.

Me! I bleed after long walks or excercise, so I haven’t been able to do it at all. I do walk to work and home (10 blocks each way) and living in NYC, I probably walk a bit more than the average person, but if I walk longer than an hour, I start to bleed. The doctor can’t find any reason for the bleeding, nor are we concerned, I am just aware of what does and does not cause it. I will say however that I am petite (5’4 and 120 pounds pre-pregnancy) and have gained 21 pounds to date (i’m 25 w 2 d today), and I probably would not have gained that much weight if I was able to incorporate some exercise into my day. That being said, eating a box of cheese-its a night, or can of pringles ALSO isn’t helping. If it doesn’t make you feel good to exercise, or there are issues surrounding it, don’t. Your body will let you know what is best.

@eupenmalmody: I also started bleeding after physical activity, as well as severe cramps.

It first started when I went to the car races to watch my hubby. I heard his car start up, so I sprinted up the grand stands to make sure I didn’t miss him. After I had been sitting down for 30 seconds, I started having horrendous cramps and later noticed I was spotting.

Ever since then it has been pretty hard to do anything other than walk. I am hoping that things will change as soon as I finish my first trimester. I want to stay fit, and I am terrified of my arms getting flabby!

I also agree that your body knows best. If you feel horrible during or after exercise, you shouldn’t do it!

I have been in constant pain for over 4 months that even walking causes. So the only exercise I have done is in the pool. Once i had problems getting in and out of the pool I was done with that too…lol.

I’m going to start doing yoga tomorrow. I’ve never really done it before, but I’ve done some pilates before the wedding and enjoyed it. I bough a video from wal-mart online. They have a pretty decent selection to choose from specifically for pregnancy so I though I’d give it a shot.

I’m just too exhausted by the end of the day to do anything.  That gym membership is going to such great use, ugh.  I’m hoping to be able to start getting some more walks in in the next few weeks but right now my only exercise is trips to the bathroom.

@sunny-day73: I’ve been interested in trying out some prenatal yoga.  Let us know how you like your DVD

My sister in law has been doing water aerobics.  She says it is amazing!

@kiddosc: I will! Another bee has been using the same DVD, and she said she really likes it, so hopefully I will too!

I haven’t done too much at all. I think I got more exercise in walking this past weekend while oot in San Antonio (the Riverwalk) than I have in the last 4 months combined.

The first 2mths of my preg here we were in 100+ temps ALL day EVERY day, so the thought of even walking to my car was a no-go…

And since I’ve just been too tired by the time I get home to do anything.

I do REALLY want to start doing something though b/c i know that exercise will help in my labor.. expecially being all natural.

Just don’t do anything crazy and listen to your body… even if you’re just going to start walking, start small and then go farther/longer as you get used to it.

@MissDareDevil: I hope you don’t have to experience bleeding any further. I can tell you that as I am only a few days away from the 3rd trimester, my bleeding/spotting has been consistent whenever I do physical activity the entire time. Hopefully yours isn’t like that!

I had to stop exercising due to the m/s. I also hurt my foot so I can’t even take long walks right now, which sucks. When I do feel up for it I do some free weights, very light to stay toned but not increase my heartrate.
